No His friend is confused as to How they sound on Thanks for alittle lovin (which imo sounds black) and The Big parade which sounds totally white and sounds like it was made for the 60s surf /beach scene. Please listen to both and see what you think. regards Steve

Ok here I come with Bull in a china shop approach! The Northern scene has never said it was a black soul music genre only as you could list hundreds of records that move people sang by white folks or white folks whose intention was not to sing soul - eg; The Rainbows - help me if you can - This was never intended as a soul record but a beach record but hey it fitted the criteria of Northern soul in the 70s. So did the Rainbows move me - yes it did - to get up and dance like a lunatic. Made me feel happy inside! If you want an artist that sings from the soul and the words and lyrics move you - It doesnt have to be soul music. Example - Francis Dunnery(Formerly of Rock indie band -It Bites) solo Lp Fearless - There are 2 songs on that album I want playing at my funeral because I feel great affinity with the songs and want someone to remember me through those tracks at what will be an emotional time. Many soul records move me with my favourites being by Ernie Andrews - Who else! and on the whole its soul records that form the majority of tunes that move me in one way or another. But its a slim majoirty!

Help Needed - Easy Baby, Adventurers...authentic Or Not?
Ernie Andrews replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
seems ok to me Jules Used to get the odd one that was Reddish writing rather than the standard Brown. Not sure how many times its been booted People were very wary of boot Compass demos cos they did look like the originals at first galnce so If you have an issue its the safest thing to have and the price is no different from the demo. This record has never really gone up in price in recent years - Still hovers around the £100 mark for an mint minus one. -
She was singing it on some TV programme the other night - Think it was the lottery programme - Nice and the record aint bad either

Once upon a time I djd at the Band on the Wall - one of the goups on were the Frantic elevators (I remember one of the others being A certain ratio) Obviously I played maily indi discs but slotted in the odd Northern record. I played the Instigations version of I dont wanna discuss it! Mick Hucknall came up to me and asked if it was Little Richard to which I said no and showed him the record. WE then had brief discussion about uptempo soul records which he said he had great admiration for! So if a musician of his standing wants to do something like that 30 years after who are we to judge. Nobody complained about Mike McDonald doin the Motown album. I am sure he will do a credible job. I think Look at me now off the first Simply red album was based on an old Northern tune but cannot rember which

January 1980 - Take my large box to Wigan as I had just started as a student nurse and was fed up of the Drugs involved in the scene. Out of the records I sold was all the compass stuff on issue & demo and the Ohio players test press. Del larks (Got £62 for that) Most of the Canadian epic stuff Oh God it would take too long - Surfice to say I got just under £1900 in one night and was left with 6 records including Pete Warner which I sold to Pete S in 2000 The other 5 which included touch of venus on awhite Champion demo i swapped for a couple of Rock lps in a second hand record shop in reading. I still have nightmares of what it is all worth now. I could never attain the same level of rarity /cost factor today. What did I spen the money on? A brand new Motorcycle / leathers helmet The lot and had a holiday and bought some clothes and a fish tank

This was the standard way the Americans kept records in the 60s and early 70s as they would take them to parties to play. Some of these cases are very rare with logos on them of record companies and even Beatles ones etc- They go for quite abit. Even Motown had their logo on some.

What is this all about- If Motherfunk owns the rights then he is a fool for giving anyone the master unleess he has in writing that the person who he gave it to must not divulge the content to a wide audience other than personal listening eg Him & His mates! If Motherfunk doesnt own the rights then its got nothing to do with him and is just sour grapes. P.S Motherfunk dont use the common phrase of I got 1000 witnesses because in reality everyone only has a very few friends who are willing to stand in a court to support you! JT smack on the Bottom if you knowingly betrayed a confidence. If Not Post the F**king thing up again as I missed it!

Cheers Wiganer- How about we tot up on Tuesday?
-
Pmd you mate! oooooh baby I believe Im losing you!
-
Shall we have alittle bet on this then for amusement sake. Whoever loses has to send the other a record (Own choice of the sender) Game on ? I have a sneaky suspicion I might do a Rangers and win it on penalties

Fabulous record but I can understand when people say they have heard it too many times- Yes the Gasher has one but Ive heard it thousands of times-WHY? Because the Gasher had it as his Ring tone and it drove me bloody crazy! Dont know what his ring tone is now but I can guess its either the Limelights or the NU-Rons. or it soon will be! Mind you he must be fed up of hearing my ring tone - Jeanette White - Music

just made an arse of myself in the sales section by querying the price of a record I thought was £20 The seller is selling for 3x that- I wanted to know how the price had shifted so much in the space of months. I got interesting reactions but it begs the question is any record worth any price and do guides actually have any relevance given the above. Could we not have a section called " Curret price" and list a record with 4 price options eg: 10-30 30-75 over 100 & over 300 or similar prices based on known recent sales. Then get everyone or whoever does to vote on it therefore creating a poll! This is what they do on Rivals.net which is about football It would also give an indication of peoples views on the value of a particular record. We could then query why has a record gone up so much in price or down so much (Validation) Am I just off my head or does anyone think this could be trialled for a couple of months to see how it goes?
