yes ............... especially when they're announcing the raffle winners
  2. the one that gets me is "plays mint" ..... which often means it looks like a bag of shit but sounds ok. generally i find US sellers gradings to be more reliable than UK ones.

mid-tempo???? .............. we call it "giffer" down here nice track ..... more of a sunday afternoon laying on the sofa track for me though.
  4. yes i found it a bit odd too ................. my first reaction (without trying to insult anyone) was "get a life". if you can't play an big fat oldie like that on nye without criticism i think its a little sad. just my very humble opinion of course ... and i love to hear the well known stuff anyway.

no good if you trod in dog shit with that tread though ........ lolly stick time!
  6. bring that on .... please.
  7. its like that old saying ... "you can't please all the people etc etc". if people want to attend these events whats the problem? and i'm sure some people do. not my cup of tea but everyone to their own.
  8. yes .............. i've got the billy joe royal one too.prefer cilla though.
  9. i love john andrews "its just love". also like cilla doing a track called "yo yo" .... very upbeat.
  10. personally, i can't wait for a total ban either. smokers are a dying breed anyway
  11. oops .... my spelling. having a blank moment, i thought it looked strange.
  12. its like a visit to the optitians

i found it quite amusing watching the 2 "ladies" kicking off to frank wilson at the end, it sorted of fitted the "action" ................ and in my defence i should say i stumbled across the programme flicking channels and was drawn in by 7 days too long that was played just before frank wilson.
  14. yes ... good programme. i caught a bit of it today ..... recommended by my nan!!
  15. i've bought a fair bit of stuff from craig moerer over the years and i've got to say he's probably given the best service at usually reasonable prices. his grading is fantastic ... i've had vg+ stuff from him that is in better shape than mint stuff from some uk dealers. he packs his records well, they are clean (without the grit and dust i often get with some, but not all, uk dealers) and they arrive quickly. and if he's getting dear ... well, i don't mind paying a bit extra for the peace of mind of knowing i'm going to get a record in great condition.
  16. love the latin down here, many of those mentioned plus ............: pucho - got myself a good man mongo santamaria - shotgun, cloud 9, can't get next to you.
  17. oooo ........... nasty business that hip hop DJ-ing!
  18. i've never been a fan of the rubber mats myself .... slipmats make it easier to bring the track in on a beat ... or to miss out a long intro if needed.
  19. I'll drink to that ............. and talking of sound, we've been using a cheapish Gemini mixer for about 6 years with no problems but it was getting a bit old so I bought a more expensive Allen & Heath one ..... sound improvements are great. Better sound and can go louder with no distortion at all. Well worth the money .... and costs less than the price of one 45 for some people I'd guess.
  20. we change our needles too often probably but better safe than sorry. If i DJ anywhere else or on anyone elses decks I always put our cartridges on ........... i even use my own headphones too as i've come across some pretty bad ones elsewhere.
  21. as has been said ............... you can't go wrong with a nice heavy duty one. i've got a couple, a 200 and a hernia inducing 600. rivets and holes for padlocks ..... no problems so far and if i swing them around whatever i am swinging them near wil come off worse. as i remember the 200 was about £70 and the 600 about £110. money well spent. and what was money equally well spent was £45 on one of these trolleys to cart the bloody 600 one around on: https://www.nuloop.com/details_dj_e.php?art=31423
  22. i like the sound of that ..... a continually busy dancefloor (and i love me and baby brother too). most of the northern soul nights i've been to have had very erratic dancefloors. busy (ish) one minute ... empty the next, which i always find a little strange ......... but, i am a southerner i suppose
