  1. Not really a comment on excessive shipping costs. But can anyone tell me why I've had to pay customs duty on a record (more than the cost of the record). Been buying records off dealers in the US for a while but was charged equivalent of £14 recently....can I claim this back and how ????
  2. Changing track a bit here....just noticed your sign off line Gaz...re Empty Bottles in July...line up looks great and I will try and get there before Burnley next nite. But leads nicely onto sign offs....what a great way to promote a nite. Sorry just thought I'd throw that thought into the discussion....slap my wrists if I've gone too far off track !!!
  3. Alfie always wiling to sit down and chat dates etc....it's about time everyone pulled together for the good of the scene. After all there's only a limited number of folk down here that are remotely interested in NS. Thing is tho, SITS is not just a local event, and our main priority is not to clash with allniters. Seems local promoters do not bother to look at the allniter calender when planning their nites which is a great pity. I would probably attend more local soul nites if they did.
  4. Some great tunes there Des. Was so sorry you felt under the weather....but great to see you and thanks for your support.
  5. That says a lot about where parts of the scene are going!!! Playlists are great to give a feel of what is played at a venue, especially for those that are not familiar with the djs and maybe want to travel further afield. Personally I don't really bother looking at playlists, unless it's for a new venue that I haven't heard of, but for those that maybe thinking of broadening their horizons then it can only be a good thing. The more folk we can get interested the better for the scene in the long run.
  6. Surely it's about djs having a passion for the music and then putting together an imaginative set, not just relying on the same old tunes to fill the floor. I love to hear tunes that are new to my ears and think Karl Heard managed to pull this off magnificently at Burnley.
  7. The thrill of finding a new tune....bidding on it when no one else seems to be interested...and then receiving it a while later in the post... and putting it on the turntable. Always gives me a buzz.
  8. Don't quite get that obsessional behaviour thing. Sure we are obsessed with the music but with regards to other obsessive behaviour, I don't know any that fit into that bracket, unless of course record collecting counts as an obsession. But don't see that leading to premature death. Just think most of us that are still into the allniter scene tend to look after ourselves, you don't see many obese folk at these events or piss heads either. So let's just keep on keeping on....
  9. Dave I want that Fredrick Knight......pretty please !!!!
  10. A few of my plays in no particular order... Tommy Rodgers - Pass the Word Irene & the Scots - Stuck on my Baby Sonny Rhodes - You Better Stop Victoria Williams & JD Ledbetter - Show Some Sign Wess & the Airedales - Crazy Billy Wade & the 3rd Degrees - Tear It Up Henry Moore - You Really Grab Me 7 Days Unlimited - Got To Get Away Staple Singers - Power of Love Ebonystic - Aint it Good to You Roy Redmond - Aint that Terrible Leo McCorkle - On Top of the World Oliver Joy - Keep Love Growing
  11. Tis a great feeling when they arrive...all neatly packaged...just waiting to be ripped open and put on the deck !!! What is not so nice is receiving a customs bill before the record can be delivered, only to find that the cost of customs is more than the cost of the record. Will deffo not be buying from that seller in the US again !!!
  12. Count me in too....was a late comer to Burnley...probably cos it's 300 miles for me....but would love to hear some of the earlier stuff.
  13. There were some great tunes played...look forward to seeing further playlists !!!
