  1. The Girth Devon Show on StompRadio.com, back for my first show of the new decade......and a sad time to remember two who passed away this week. Sandra Wright and of course the legend that was Teddy Pendergrass. The 2nd hour of the show will be dedicated to their music.......lots of TP classics & faves lined up. If you were planning to have a little Teddy session yourself, log onto www.stompradio.com @ 8pm and let me play some for you...... Kicking off at 7pm for some usual soul goodies - rounding off at 9pm Cheers Girth
  2. Thats a bit of an understatement John if ever there was an advert for the LP over the 45 it might be that album Girf
  3. Thanks for all the replies guys.....i'd seen all the french issues etc, but not this one any where near as often, and still up the air as to whether this is a proper US copy ????? Surely any bootleggers would have copied this one rather than the busier french label ??? Cheers Girth

Nice show Niki & Nelly, bit heavy on the philly....had to play some Stranglers after to wash the philly down Meant to send in a request, but I was out & about and couldn't for the life of me remember the title - well it was MFSB - Sunnin' & Funnin' - lovin' this one recently. So stick me down for that one next year......see ya on Sunday, oh dear.... Loves ya Girf

  10. Sold @ £25 which I was happy with.....def not one of the French copies tho' Mark. You can clearly see the difference if you look at this copy on popsike.....https://www.popsike.com/GIL-SCOTT-HERON-The-bottle-7-NORTHERN-SOUL-latin-HEAR/360057258420.html I've handled both issues numerous times at Crazy Beat, but just had a niggling feeling that the ones that state they are US - not all are kosher ??? Cheers Girth
  11. Thanks for the replied people......now sold, one happy customer....... Got the LP Dave, a fave artist - although the Bottle has never been in particular......single wise I prefer the UK Phillips 45 - backing Lady Day with When You Are Who You Are..... Cheers Gareth
  12. Bout £500/£600 I think Mark........ Cheers Girth
  13. Hey knowledgeable people.......can someone have a quick look at this copy of The Bottle and tell me if its a pressing or original......you can view the exact copy here on discogs...... https://www.discogs.com/Gil-Scott-Heron-Brian-Jackson-The-Bottle/release/1946914 Sure its obvious to many coming from the northern scene, but coming from the jazz funk scene like I do, I have never thought of it as a bootlegable record. And I seem to recall that the french 45s are original issues and that US ones are / are not ??? Got a buyer waiting, just wanted to confirm before I offer it...... and a going rate ???? Cheers Gareth
  14. PM'd you......cheers Girth
  15. This is one that has eluded me for an age.......Gary sold a copy of this in Crazy Beat years ago and it perked my ears up at the time - oddball intro but settles into a reet nice groove - top vocal. Made a mental note to pick one up myself, only to find that every copy I saw / played sounded nothing like I remembered. To the point where I thought I must have dreamt it or been seriously mistaken. Soon as I clicked on the link it all came flooding back..... Cheers for clearing that up..... Girf PS - there is another 45 that I have had a similar problem with, but for the like of me I can't remember what it was.....i'll get back to ya.....
  16. Cheers Brett........it all comes around again so soon ;o)) Been digging deep this week for some choice soul & jazz for the Girth Devon Show this evening on StompRadio.com. 18. The Chiefs is a Salsoul tune - Montana Sextet is on US Philly Sound Works tho'.....still a Vince Montana classic and almost a Salsoul tune Girf
  19. Certainly would have been £25 or under a decade ago.......i'd have seen and sold copies at around 1998 to 2004 when I was at Crazy Beat......this really started to rise in value after that time. I think the last copy I had I sold for around £30 - and that would have been about 2005.....my own copy came out of a collection I bought and would have cost me about £2 I think !!! Hope you get some of those records back Stefan......a sorry situation for you...... Cheers Gareth
  20. Most of my faves on the label already mentioned I think......this one tho' is one I go back to time & time again......love it..... Girf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeVZxUtJdBA
  21. Not sure if i've seen a vinyl reissue, but certainly most, if not all tracks have appeared on CD......as Bobby Patterson, rather than 'Story'......not sure on the value now, but its always been a tough one to locate in the states. Alot of copies that come up for sale are out of collections..... Peach of an album of course..... Cheers Girf
  22. PM'd you - any ideas on the going rate for this now ??? Gareth
  23. While i'm at it i've just stuck up a clip of a Jamaican thing i've been given.......again not gonna set the world on fire but I could see it working in some places..... Girf
  24. Soundfile up Mark.......the top side is a full on synthy boogie tune - think thats the side that is creating interest in Europe. This is my prefered side, altho' not 100% loving it Cheers Girth
  25. STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP .....to a Marching tune....... Yes - its Thursday again.....seems to come at least once a week - join me on STOMPRADIO.COM for two hours of soul goodies between 7-9pm for The Girth Devon Show........major technical problems with the computers in the studio this week so you can text shouts & requests to 07906 200052..... ....Cheers Girth
