Sorry mate, you're not having mine
Yup, she was impressed indeed - the Beeb were using it several months back on a TV trail, and as you know, it's one of those that kinda gets inside your head!
Hippo.
even better...received a nice demo 10" through the post the other day without realising what it was; put it on the decks and the female on the couch says "That's the one I was asking you about..."
Surefire Top 5 hitbound matey, I'd say!
Hippo.
Never realised it was played at t'Casino...found it on the US album on top of my racks a couple of years back and thought it might be worth a spin - maybe I'll get round to it one day!
Released a bit later than you thought though...
LAWS, ELOISE IF I DON'T WATCH OUT 1980 US LIBERTY LT-1083 LP ISSUE
Hippo.
Thanks for that Pete - somebody obviously had a bit of fun doing that, probably makes a change from knocking out fake Mona Lisa prints
Just out of interest though Livesey, does it play at the speed it was meant to when first recorded, or at the speed that we know from "Suspicion", i.e. plus a fair bit on the old 1210's? That would be a dead giveaway!
Hippo.
Doesn't it?! However, it looks to me as if the cover-up title was written before "Baby have mercy"! At least the date's done in US style, but without a scan of the "proper" acetate, are the numbers similar? And who went to all that trouble?
Hippo.
Thanks for the offer Simon, several people have had goes at it and got good guesses, but it's the "official" lyrics I'm after.
It's for a showband in Gloucester who do quite a few NS songs - Gloucestershire nutters & Sarries regulars will know Tanya, she's their lead singer.

Just clean up that clip of "Footsee" at t'Casino that Pete put up the other day and play it loud at the JJB as the home team run out - scare any opposition ****less, that would
Hippo.
He didn't plug into the decks, just put the mike under them, not even near the speakers, so the quality was laughably bad - even so, Clarky was quite rightly somewhat upset!
Hippo.
Think it was "of its time" mate - like the Jewels. Just wouldn't be the same now, you had to be there. Although we've all matured a bit I must admit to having goosebumps listening to that clip. Thanks Pete!
Hippo.
No disputing that Sebastian - when I bought mine some years back it was from a well known UK dealer who had a stack of them (and I'll bet he wasn't the only one), and it became a bit of an in-joke that we'd turn it from a five pound tune into an in-demand ten pound tune . Looks like several other people had the same idea!
Hippo.
Just in case I don't get a chance...have a great time everyone, a happy Christmas to all the SS crew, and members - see some of you at the Saracens bash no doubt.....
Yup, Soul Bowl bought the entire remaining stock - and as we know it was the proverbial "cheapie". however they gradually disappeared into collections and it was a classic case of supply and demand when someone finally reactivated it, no one wanted to sell (that's until they found out what people were offering! ). Good thing is that if you buy one in the UK chances are they'll be in good nick, as Stone Soul says the few that I've seen from US sources have been somewhat unluv'd!
Hippo.
.......ah, but there's more than one! - versions with and without backing vocals on each label, although I can't remember ever hearing a copy of the Golden Triangle release with said b/vs.
inferior? no. Different, yes!
