  1. I got caught decades ago with this, looks OK but it's a boot, they copied the matrix details as best they could...well, 3am at a dark niter, how was I to know...:-) "counterfeited as a blue stock copy using very flexible VINYL (you can do a Rolf Harris impression with it) and copying DELTA # 59636 and lots of other very unconvincing squiggles and numbers etc. "
  2. Yes, that's got to be Yate...is that Stella Reuter ( later Prince) as well?
  3. Apologies if it's been done before, but I couldn't see it for the tears of laughter - but doesn't "ripe for reactivation" mean "I've got a few copies of this to shift"?
  4. This was another reissue from around the same time...
  5. ...and I'm sure I've said it before, but "In the pocket" blasting out is one of my favourite Stafford memories :-)
  6. 1. Quite probably, it was played at various venues IIRC... 2. Not really...:-)
  7. Nor I, there always seemed to be loads of copies going cheap here in the UK as well!
  8. Yes, along with "a missing number from the Impact label"...think it was from an article in New Soul Time...
  9. For some reason the Smith Brothers never really clicked with me at the time it was being played out...better late than never, I suppose...
  10. The mag was done by Tony Berry, AKA Tony Lott, a DJ and collector here in Gloucestershire, kept the flame alive in that period but was out of the scene by the time it really took off big time. he later worked in A&R for Arista but passed away some years ago now....
  11. I seem to remember Dave Thorley telling me that Doc Kyle's son had both the boots done - wonder where he got that muffled bongo-led mix from?
  12. Big Boris "Devils Drive" was played at the Torch as a new release...
  13. Luv "Crazy changes" and Rimshots "Do what you feel" - both new release spins at various venues including t'Casino...Marva Hicks "Looking over my shoulder" played from new as well...
  14. Can't ever remember any racism at all - we were all in it for the scene, and to escape reality anyway...:-)...but it reminded me of this pic Dave Thorley took of us after Yate...
  15. Ah, the Brinsleys and the infamous Famepushers hype...my best friend and his girlfriend were on the New York/Fillmore trip as prizewinners...alcohol all the way and spliffs in the limos... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brinsley_Schwarz
  16. Interesting that the Hesitations "I'm not built that way" 70's vinyl boot also uses a different suffix...K-10443-4, with K-10441-4 on the flip...
  17. Never had a problem with Anoraks Corner - he brings the records round personally every Christmas...only trouble is he takes them back with him after a cuppa! Evening Son!
  18. No change there then...bless him... I have to admit, before now if I've been on just before Sam I've dropped the master levels back a bit during the last track in my set - more in hope than expectation mind...
  19. Not as far as I know, unless there's a recent one...
  20. Confession time...my big sister bought the Invitations on Stateside as a new release - now what stupid 16 year old would "liberate" it in order to buy a flagon of Cider? - not one of my better moves! She never lets me forget it every time I play my Dynovoice demo, and has only just given up waiting and bought herself a replacement Stateside issue 47 years later!
  21. Our local club in the 60's had an extensive library, most of the soul releases, however over the years it got split up or raided....when they refitted to go more "upmarket" in 1967 I rescued the Sue white label LP from beneath a pile of builders rubble! As DJ's started to use their own 45's the rest were stuck in a cupboard, so when I heard P P Arnold at the Torch in 1973 I had a furtle through the following night, and found it there! I've ended up with their copy of The Ikettes - "What'cha gonna do" on London, various Red Atlantics etc. as well...
  22. 70's pressing...Monarch scratched matrix is delta 103691...:-)
  23. Inspirations - "Your wish is my command" - how often do you see that up for sale these days?
  24. There's another 70's boot, can't lay my hands on it at the moment, but IIRC it's orange, has his "If the shoe fits" on the flip, but is labelled as Jimmy Bee "Wanting you"! PS I used to play "I don't wanna lose you" from the LP back then, covered up as Danny Wagner ;-)
  25. ...and yet a couple of clicks and I found three copies at 20 quid each! Still, I'll bet there's someone stupid enough...
