  1. Unless my memory's totally shot, the lift was right at the back of the main room, by the loos...
  2. Thank you Alan - it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
  3. Duke Browner! Right on the beat...awe inspiring!
  4. .... I honestly can't remember that at all Mickey - I CAN see why the DJ side of me would have bought it though...maybe it's my memory that's shot then! Regards Jeff
  5. Asked a mate Webbys original question at the weekend, and this is the tune he came back with immediately!
  6. Whoa there Michael - a slur on my name! Think your memory must finally be shot - I've NEVER (to my knowledge) had a copy of Muriel Day!!! And the only 45 I can really remember having nicked was my April Stevens issue at Worcester Racecourse on a Monday night...and I've never yet gone public with my suspicions:no: ...we'll have to discuss this further over a beer!
  7. Late seventies reissue...
  8. Off the top of my head, Dave Kilworth, Dave Thorley, Steve Snook, Baz Ryley and Danny Everard all scratched their names in the runout of 45's now in my collection...
  9. This is what Mikey wrote... I collected together a whole load of tracks people on here associated with Yate about this time last year. If I get a chance to hunt out the file at Lunchtime I will stick them on here. We may even get a few more to add to the list. list compiled thanks to: Hippo, Pete french, Martinsbox, Dave Greenfield, Steve C, Russ Vickers, Dayo, Johnny and Ali One Trout, Shute, Enchantedrhythm Ady C and Paul R Ady C had his arm twisted on here to maybe get a Kent compilation tribute to Yate...so any more arm twisting might have the desired rewards. Found it ;-) hope this works: Larry Allen Cant we talk it Over Green Dolphin Rufus Lumley Stronger than me RCA Marva Hicks Looking over my shoulder Infinity Elbie Parker Please keep away from me Veep Bobby Kline Say something nice to me M.B. 10. Pete, on the long Yate thread there's a big list that Mikey did, should give you an idea...
  11. Can't remember the Drifters (doen't mean it didn't happen though! )...but deffo remember Edwin there with Chris King pushing me out onto the stage...and on another night compering Jr Walker, Marv Johnson and Jimmy Ruffin on the same bill...still got the backstage pass stuck on the lid of my big record box!
  12. Paula Parfitt - Love is wonderful Beverly Ann - He's coming home Derek and Ray - Interplay OR... Sam Williams - Love slipped through my fingers Joanne Courcy - I got the power Herb ward - Strange Change
  13. Seconded...IMHO nothing could better Shawn Robinsons version...
  14. ...Dee Dee Phillips "Hey little girl" playing on the coach - or was that you singing it? Apart from that Webby, you nailed it with your first two!
  15. IIRC released for two different areas of the States, don't know if theye were simultaneous though...
  16. Virgil Murray "I still care" - dug out my Airtown copy with an open mind yesterday, but oh dear, hasn't dated well!
  17. Of course - grab 'em by the bits and don't let go! Starting low tempo? Noooo...
  18. Brilliant!!! ...bless him...
  19. Yes, Mike Jemison "Hold on, he's coming"...
  20. Going to be contrary and spin "It's time for change" on the show right now, and do a twofer with the A-side and Sharon Ridley tomorrow. Quality stuff, well done lads!
  21. Teddy Vann - Theme from the Colored Man...pity no-one ever plays the spoken intro on the other side!
  22. Oh yes...been banging on for decades about how under-rated this is. Pure stomper!!!
  23. Also came out on an Era re-issue in 1969, delta no. 78516, other side of "I'll make it easy"...
  24. Was very sad to hear the news on Sunday night, only chatted to Max once, at Soulfusion last summer, but remember sweating and stomping to his tunes many times at the Cats. My deepest sympathies Hippo.
  25. The album was called "Vixen"...and the remake of Tainted Love on it was dire if I remember correctly - certainly not worth the effort of burrowing in the depths of my wardrobe to find it anyway!
