Fraid not Suz. This lady eventually had a much bigger hit than any of Barbara's Barbara Mills

Sorry Webby. Not sandy...

Depends on whether you like a bit of harmless fun or prefer to concentrate on the old belly button fluff Actually, yes. It's a fine tradition
-
"knock up"??? Nah - she didn't have a two word hit. She did have a hit though, although later in her career than when this pic was taken.

Apologies for being a bit tardy. Had to knock up a presentation for work and running a tad late. Staying with the tradition of using performers not usually thought of a soul artists - here's this weeks. There are a couple of questions that I won't answer this time as I think it might give it away to easily Feel free to have a random guess. It all adds to the fun

Sorted with this now. Thanks to all who contacted me and a big cheers to okehdokeh for his wonderfully generous gesture. My mate Carl will be over the moon to add this to his jukebox. I love this site Paul -
Chandlers Boot Needed - Your Love Makes Me Lonely
Godzilla replied to Godzilla's topic in Record Wants
Nice one Ken. Let's sort details out by PM Cheers Paul -
Anybody got a boot of this going spare? In the 80s I was involved in a Soul band that played a lot of Northern. We had a get together last night and it looks like a reformation is on the cards. More of this later though. The guitarist was really young at the time and he reminded me that I did loads of tapes for him and told me that he now has jukebox full of Northern Soul. One of the tapes ended with The Chandlers - Your Love Makes Me Lonely, but it cut out half way through the song and he'd guessed the next word was "appreciate" but it's taken him 14 years to get confirmation. He was mightily chuffed as you can imagine! I've sent him an MP3 this morning but thought it might be nice to post him a 45 for his jukebox as a surprise. Can anyone help please? I'll pay a reasonable 'booty' price. Please contact me by PM or email to: mistergodzilla@yahoo.com Cheers Paul

Update: I've been contacted by several people asking asking why I can't sell 'Tom Brown's' armchair collection (or Ken and 'James' records for the matter) on a website. The simple answer is this: I live in a little village called Tidmordon. It's a beautiful spot but the drawback is that it's situated on a time rift and history runs backwards. Consequently although the internet was invented in some 20 years time, it has no longer been and so I can't use it. Also I'm busy writing a book about my passion for zoos. It's a further sign of my good character however, and proof that I'm not a slipperry eel. Certainly not a cheetah.

Sofa so good Rod. I think I need to Couch this deal in terms that encourages members on here to have a punt. I've had interest from a Rocker but he's not the type we're trying to attract. Bit of a Barstool in fact. Maybe I should include that free record offer to Cushion the blow. Perhaps I'll offer Ken's copy of The Chesterfields to the first person who signs up as an introductory offer. Come in folks, chance an Arm. This chair scheme has got Legs.

He did have actually but after a short course of penicilin and a dab of stain remover he was right as rain.

Update: I have now sourced a third partner. He is another anonymous dealer who is willing to participate. As I can't mention his name either I'll refer to him as 'Tom Brown'. Tom has been an armchair collector for more years than most people on this forum can remember. In that time he's amassed a magnificent collection of armchairs which are not for sale but can be bought through me at the right price. Of course there is a risk that the bottom will drop out of the fragile armchair economy but that's chance we 'll have to take. We're sure that your money will safe with us but as an extra insurance policy, my associate Ken will be heavily investing in footstools as a failsafe Once again I'll be offering shares in this operation. Join with confidence.

Might be one Mark...

That clip sounds like the breaks they used to add to 12 inch versions of disco songs to stretch them out an extra three or four minutes

You certainly need to be in on this, Steve. The best way is to buy shares. Meet me round the back of the bike sheds after RE and have your phone number ready, written on the back of a £50 note. In fact make it two just to be safe. You'll be embroiled in this foolproof scheme before you know it. A small deposit and regular payments of no more than your annual salary will entitle you to a share of all profits (after expenses, set up costs, consultation fees and Ken's royalty for initiating the scam project. That fee gets paid to me initially anyway and I sort out out the taxes). Told you it was foolproof. Oh and while I remember... You go through ME if you want any of Ken's gear Rod. OK? Ken has been an armchair philosopher for as long as I remember and wants to remain completely anonymous. However I have also been in touch with another Ken who I can't name but for the sake of anonymity I'll call him James. He'd have to look at his watch to tell you how long he's been a philosopher, or so I've read. He does have some fine shelves however and I am his chosen broker. Same deal as above if you want in and I'll also throw in a free record with all purchases because his are all rubbish of course. We're all going to be rich boys and girls!
-
So you're saying I should go directly to the source and buy them off you? Then I can get Ken to sell for me and we can both bid on them! I see it now, it all makes sense: We keep our records Ken gets his commission off both of us (twice!) and we make money selling the records through our broker. Everyone wins!!!
-
Hang on a minute. I thought it was my collection Ken was hawking on here! Just what sort off game are playing Ken you slippery eel? And if I'm not bidding against myself on my own records, just who's damn records am I bidding on??? Something not right here methinks
-
That's me - I'm bidding against myself
-
Ignore him. They're my records really but Ken's just selling them to make a profit because I don't come on here and would like higher prices than eBay fetches but without going through Manship

Odd. A post of mine seems to have disappeared. Just before I PM'd you Rod, I posted this pic from popsike: Since then I've seen the single in question mentioned on various 'Krautrock' websites and found these pics of the single. I suppose hearing the German vocal would provide the definitive answer?

I know you're not the same. It was a little joke based on the fact that you both have a posting style that comes across as a bit pompous and superior. Never mind. Not sure about you thinking about me masturbating though Guilty plea to the charge of childish humour though. Another fault of mine is that I feel the need to respond when people decide they are cleverer than everyone else. Which reminds me... ...got to address this post you made in member's feedback and it is relevant to this topic, given that you're throwing about the word discrimination: Wow! You're smarter than most of the UK!!! I have to say that I'm with the remainder of the UK - and my job revolves around anti-discriminatory / anti-oppressive practice. I know what 'indirect discrimination' means: for instance if you advertise a job by leafleting but omit the estate where there's a significant black population. You're not directly discriminating by not hiring a black applicant who can do the job, you're discriminating indirectly by making it harder for that applicant to find out about the job. As for 'indeliberate discrimination', a brief search yielded only a single academic reference - and doesn't mean what you think it does I also understand that someone can cause offence through ignorance for example, although that's different to discrimination. However, you are suggesting Trouble was consciously acting in a discriminatory fashion. I think you need to a bit more explicit and quote the bit of law which says what you claim it does
