  1. Looks like the right era, Roger. Not Mitch though...
  2. Just tried to post this but it disappeared. I'll have another go and hope it doesn't duplicate. As usual our mystery person is an artist who has had at least one tune played on the Northern Soul scene but not really a soul singer. I'll take questions to which I can answer 'yes' or 'no' - and will provide more clues as we go along. All depends on people joining in but judging by previous weeks there are loads of good sports on here. Last week we had Curtis Lee whose tune still (rightfully) gets played. This time it's one from the dark days when anything with the right beat was acceptable... who is the guy singing here?
  3. I've had one on hold since 3rd September for member 'Baronsofsoul'. Doesn't look like he's actually going to pay so if you want let me know. £35 + £1.80 postage. I pay paypal charges. PM me if you're interested. Cheers Paul (Godz)
  4. Which one Marc - Gladys Knight?
  5. The information is invaluable but you may find syntax troubling.
  6. Sorry - obviously I made it too easy this week. Got a nice one lined up for next Sunday though
  7. Just to clarify the clues: Both hits covered in the UK by Rock 'n Roll revivalists Showaddywaddy. No relation to Curtis Lee and KCPs who did "Everybody's Going Wild" A Northern side that's pretty unusual due to its prominent yodelling.
  8. Bingo! Well done. Curtis Lee (born 28 October 1941, Yuma, Arizona, U.S.[1]) is an American singer of the early 1960s and, twice over, one of the beneficiaries of 1961 productions by Phil Spector. These were "Pretty Little Angel Eyes" (U.S. #7) and "Under the Moon of Love" (U.S. #46). and of course this... Nice and quick this week. Ta for joining in everyone Another next week if you like.
  9. ok recap. Here he is again Rock and Roll singer with some doo wop influence on the hits. Two pretty big hits in his time and pretty much zilch afterwards. He did pop into the studio to cut a storming Northern Soul tune however. Here's a couple of clues: 1. You may know his hits by someone else. 2. There's an artist with the same name who had a somewhat unusual Northern record - but they're different people.
  10. A bit earlier Suz. Interesting guess though..
  11. Our man is a singer - not so sure about Bob?
  12. Mickey looked far cooler...
  13. A little less 'teen' than Bobby Vee, Sandi, but good guess. You're all thinking along pretty much the right lines though. With the exception of my old pal Webby, naturally...
  14. Not Jerry either... Great album cover though!
  15. Too Jazzy is our Bobby, Ken
  16. To late for him Mike. Like I mentioned, Doo Wop influenced Rock n Roll on the hits.
  17. You know how your post is number 28? Have a look at 27
  18. No mate. This guy is more rock and roll with a bit of doo wop. On the hits anyway...
  19. I believe he is Chris. Can't be still performing though as it's hard to find pics of him despite the hits.
  20. No !!
  21. Nope - did sometimes sound like Elvis I gather. Not obvious on his hits though and certainly not on any relevant to this site
  22. You mean Jimmy?
  23. Denied in post 9 Tabs
  24. See where you're coming from Joe - but fraid it's not Jimmy
  25. Not Tommy Sands - and Webby, glad to see you're dependable as ever - Nope! Not Charlie Gracie.
