  1. Never heard that before. Bobbins version of the Billy Joe Royal track I see.
  2. I think it's a great idea. Maybe break it up with a couple of stomping pop instrumentals to really get peoples' backs up
  3. PM sent Patto
  4. What's the difference Jocko?
  5. Bridlington Spa has undergone a massive restoration and is now a beautiful concert venue. 1 x ticket to see The Specials on Monday 02/11/09 going spare. I Will accept face value of £32.50 and I'll pay for Special Delivery to ensure it arrives in time. PM or email to: mistergodzilla@yahoo.com Ta Paul Dammit - just seen the news about a further three day postal strike. Guess I'll have to try and sell it outside the venue
  6. Crikey - there are boots everywhere advertised for more than that. Fair enough though, can't imagine huge demand these days. Good job it cost next to nothing. Cheers gents ps - maybe if add the tagline "reactivated by Butch at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch...?
  7. No need to discuss how unfashionable instrumentals are these days, or how there's no soul content. There are generally a couple of threads permanently running on thiose subjects Anybody give the going rate for an Original Sound stamped vinyl issue please? Cheers Godz
  8. That was my copy. Just posted to Russia
  9. Boot I'm sure Steve. Diamond promos usually have the white 'gem facets' outline same as the issues.
  10. Translation anyone?

  12. If you're referring to my comment, that's not the case. I thought it was rubbish at the time and that's nothing to do with selective memory. I enoyed my share of poppy stompers like most at the time and still have a copy of Harry Betts "Fantastic Plastic Machine" for example. Loads of people think that's a crap record too, so it's clearly not a matter of trying to look cool in hindsight. Just because some records were huge at Wigan doesn't mean that everyone liked them. Some just preferred different pop records.. I've also collected pop records since I was about 11 years old but still don't rate "Nine times out of Ten" at all, so it seems that it is possible that someone can say it's not a good pop record. It's not a good pop record. There. Said it.
  13. Would have made no difference whatsoever. The reason it attracts such derision is it's complete and utter bobbins. And that's coming from a member that recently got told off by Jocko on here for defending good white pop records Ever tried these, Mark...
  14. Nice version by Maxine Brown too. On her commonwealth LP or, if you're lucky, four track promo EP with pic sleeve shot same as the album.
  15. Well done Chris! Don't know which clue it was but congratulations on working it out. Thought I was gonna have to spill the beans this week. Janie Grant. Real name: Rose Marie Casilli First hit triangle on Caprice in 1961 made US top 30 Last 45 "My Heart Your Heart" Parkway 1966 Couple of records came out on Pye UK but none charted 'Tell Me Mama' was covered by Leeds girl, Christine Quaite Once again well done Big Chris and a massive thanks to everyone who took part. This is a great way to end the weekend and I really appreciate all the forum members who get in the spirit and have a knock Goodnight all Godz https://www.youtube.c...h?v=TnS8Y52xi68 and for comparison, her '61 hit - Triangle
  16. Do you mean her US hit or the big Northern tune? I think the hit got a reissue or two including one on Startdust. Her Northern tune was definitely booted though. And there are a couple of label comps on CD and I'm sure they are boots too.
  17. Sorry Suz - getting hard to keep up due to amount of guesses vs drinks consumed. Much bigger Wigan tune. Bloody monster in 70s.
  18. Right. Her Northern tune as I've already said is on a label with loads of Northern stuff. At least two of the guesses so far are on the label. I can tell you where the label is from I think, unlike some of our previous quizes, It may not be immediately obvious that she's white. I'm sure I hadn't sussed it at Wigan, although with retrospect you can tell easily.
  19. Hits, Gary! Hits! Right you lot. Stop just naming random white girl singers and read the clues - or ask more questions. Here's another clue for you (need to stop soon, I'm knackered). Her last recording is the Northern one. It's from 1966 and unlike her first 45 is on a label with loads of Northern Soul tunes on it.
  20. Nah - too blonde
  21. Not Debbie
  22. Heeeeeeer's Bernie! Yikes! Nope!
  23. Teach Me Tiger! Unfortunately not
  24. My favourite pic of her - I like this better than the groovy 60s stuff. Not her though.
