Enjoyed the programme and I know there's only so much you can cover in 90 minutes, but I think they missed a trick by not including any reference to exotica/lounge music. Not a single mention of Esquivel or Martin Denny and that feels like a significant omission to me. Did feel jealous of Bob Stanley's Schweppes crate collection though

Hard to think of anyone who could match him in terms of originality, innovation and creativity. I hope that his death is marked as the significant loss to contemporary culture that it truly is. Rest in Peace Gil.

I was already aware of course about the music, that it was scene that included collectors, DJs, and dancers, That there were iconic venues and records covered up to make them exclusive. What really resonated with me though, was when they were talking about how long the scene had left, with that mixture of hopeful optimism and realism: "our music will continue to exist for a few more years I hope..." Says it all really

Those 60s recordings epitomise the sound that turned many people of my generation onto soul music. Lorraine Chandler's records in particular just ooze a class and quality that is exceptionally rare. It's a genuine honour to have you aboard.

Any idea of the 1978 ones? The 1979 ones start at 45/79 1001 so your info would suggest that there are some 45/78 numbers. As for the person responsible - can we play 'Animal, Vegetable or Mineral'....? Nice one. That was the missing SF 45/79 1004 number. Now added it in to the list. Keep 'em coming amigos.

Richard Searling had an acetate with Eddie Parker - "I'm Gone" on one side and the slowed down version of Peace Pipe credited as "Star Odyssey" by Luther Ingram on the flip. It was uncovered pretty quickly.

That bright green one in your pick is definitely styrene Steve.There's also a deep blue vinyl one that is vinyl and really heavy. As work is driving me nuts at the moment I've indulged in some escapism and collated all the Soul Fox 45s I can find too. Will post up in a moment.

I believe that there's now an operation whereby you can have those decorative ears removed and a replaced with a real, fully functioning set Here's a link from 2009.
