  1. I was offered £350 for my VG+ copy last year but decided against selling: I like it because it's unusual and I'd have a tough time replacing it if I changed my mind later.
  2. OG means original Mouldie.
  3. Sorry - don't believe this. There's got to be a thousand things to invest in that would give a better return and be less volatile than the vinyl record market. And people who don't know anything about the subject investing? Fantasy I'm afraid. Now, how are my shares in that jam butty mine doing...?
  4. I think the Paul Leka connection with 'You Are The One I Love' (which definitely sounds like a Bubblegum song) made lots of people assume they must a white group. I did.
  5. Just listened Bob. It's nice for sure but I guess I've lived with the Kelly Brothers for quite some years now...
  6. Kelly Brothers on Excello for me on that song. Loved it since I heard it on the Kent "Uptown Down South" compilation
  7. Sorry - was a bit tired when I posted last night. We've had this booked for ages as it's a chance to get there when 100 Club is on. It's so ingrained in my brain that I didn't even mention it in original post - it was as though everyone was supposed to know! We managed to lose our 100 Club virginity in February this year when we got to a night with a bunch of soul, mod and R&B bands and that was great but this will be our first 100 Club allnighter. To say we're excited and, to be honest, a bit nervous, would be an understatement. Tips given so far are exactly the sort of thing we're after, so big thanks and, as we're taking the ipad, keep 'em coming! Cheers Paul
  8. Mrs Godzilla and I will be in London from tomorrow teatime until Tuesday morning. When I asked for tips re Glasgow I got a fantastic response - Stavaigin in particular was a real winner and somewhere I hope to eat again real soon. We've got a few things lined up but are always happy for advice from Sourcers so let's have it: Pubs (character and good choice of beer rather than trendiness), eateries, record shops, exhibitions, unusual buildings, anything worth mentioning really. We're on a bit of a budget and won't get round everything but can always save good ideas for next time. Over to you...
  9. Tennessee Ernie Ford - 16 Tons - Capitol - 1965 Go Go Version Really nice copy of Ernie's updated 60s version of his hit. Current in-demand play on Popcorn and R&B scenes. Please contact me for shipping elsewhere. PM to reserve Excellent condition copies of this version regularly go for $80 - 100+ as can be seen on popsike: https://www.popsike.c...humbs=&currsel= Here's Ernie lip-synching to the Go Go Version
  10. I'd be really grateful if someone based in the US was prepared to take delivery of a record and forward to me. I'll pay shipping to UK and a little on top for your trouble. Naturally, I'd prefer someone who has used the forum for a while. Please PM to get in touch. Thanks in advance and here's hoping! Paul Sorted now. Huge thanks to those who got in touch. I love Soul Source!
  11. Nothing like making a snap judgement based on very little information is there
  12. Your spins are sort of the exception to rule as far as this thread goes really though, Mark. In fact I'll be surprised if this topic doesn't end up looking like one your set lists
  13. Teen Turbans - We Need to Be Love. I remember when I was desperate for a copy as a wide eyed teenager around 1976. Not really meaty enough sounding for today I suspect.
  14. Just a bit of fun mate
  15. They're all on Bisco demand though. Soulscene is looking for 1st issue on Bolumbia. (that's enough 'B"s for now. ed.)
  16. No it's Wayne Bibson like he said. The record is actually called "Under My Bum" too.
  17. Just googled and found this obvious boot. Is this like yours?
  18. Debate's healthy though innit? Cheers chaps
  19. I see your answers are becoming a bit more brusque and a bit less friendly. Hope it's nothing I've said as I don't intend to cause offence. Final question though: seems like you're suggesting that the NS rule re OVO (which, for what it's worth, I support in principle) actually extends to anyone playing vinyl of any kind at any kind of event. How's that one gonna be policed then and who's volunteering?
  20. Ahem. I've got Johnny Harris on 45 US and UK (for Footprints rather than Lulu of course) and I've got the LP too. And I've got plenty of original library stuff but just not everything I want yet. Also I don't think anyone will truly care on that night. I'll ask someone else on here who will be playing some tunes on the night just to check of course. Meanwhile my slightly tongue in cheek post seems to have taken on a surreal life of it's own though, where I can't tell who's joking and who's being serious. Maybe quite an apt metaphor for the whole debate...
  21. You're serious aren't you? wow.
  22. Blimey - I'm more confused now Wiggy. Original post said " do you play r&b,funk, latin, northern, rare soul, ska reggae/whatever..." so didn't seem to be talking exclusively about NS nights. Also, what if some of my NS mates come to the night - how should they feel about the reissues? Yikes! Ta for the compliment about the music mix, mind
  23. You misunderstand me Chalky. I said probably not a good example - was just trying to (clumsily maybe) say that there are shades between 'life and death' vs 'don't care'. Mind you I had forgotten that a lot of people on here see things in very black and white terms.
  24. I'm organising an event for November in a little club in my home town. It's not aimed at any particular group of people and certainly not a NS crowd. It's an excuse for some mates to DJ and some mates to party in a cool cellar bar. I'll be playing a mixture of soul, funk, reggae and library tunes. Amongst the originals will be some selections from KPM/De Wolfe reissue LPs, a couple of Jazzman 45s and maybe the odd track from a recent compilation of french soundtracks. Should I be ashamed or should I have a good time?
