Big Update! Northern For Funk, Library, Soundtrack 45S
Godzilla replied to Godzilla's topic in Record Sales
I think the KPM demand is mostly LP based to be honest Dave. Hopefully I've made it clear in my post that I'm not trying to get bargains by hoodwinking people who are naive about markets other than Northern Soul. I just want to do fair deals where I can exchange Northern 45s for funk/library and soundtrack 45s of a similar value. I'll be updating the list later tonight too as some items have been exchanged already and I have more to add. Big thanks to all who've contacted me and for the deals done so far. If you're awaiting a response you'll get one tonight. Cheers Paul (now updated - see above) -
They were based in Manchester in the mid/late 70s. One of them (Alan?) used to sometimes drink in my local, the Hunt Lane Tavern, Chadderton, Oldham. Always in the lounge bar though - never the vault...

Agreed Ashley. I'm afraid the genie is out of the bottle now though. Reminds me of a post I made a couple of years ago regarding a massive want of mine. I decided not to announce the title as it's never been mentioned on here and I didn't want to draw attention to a 45 that should be obtainable without paying the earth. It's still not been discussed on the site however, so clearly I need to stick to my guns - although I've not had a sniff of the record either, so it could be argued that my cunning plan offers limited success... (edit for typos - left glasses at work again - better go get 'em)

Quite probably Rod

Something really weird has happened to this topic? Anyway it looks like I can still reply to the original version which went like this: Anyway it looks like a bunch of people now want this tune. Bugger - once the Northern crowd latch on to a record they inevitably chuck far to much money at it and push up the established and settled price. Wish I'd kept my gob shut now
-
Stop is a well known pop stomper and is pretty pants - especially compared to reviewing - which was also a single on Pye and which is not Northern in the slightest but is a superb record. Horses for courses and all that though, of course

**New additions added 21st Sept half way down list** All records are original first issue unless stated. All are good strong Ex unless otherwise noted and many are Mint - more details available on request Feel free to also ask for scans, clips, deadwax markings etc and I'll happily provide them. Ask me anything in fact - although I'm a bit crap with sports questions if I'm honest. I'm interested in trading for hard funk, library/soundtrack 45s, funky gospel or even folk/funk - NOT any of the stuff that's currently called 'funky northern' and I'm not after crossover, modern soul, boogie or disco. *** see bottom of post for examples** I'd prefer like for like swaps price-wise rather than being offered lots of cheaper stuff for £20+ records, although I won't rule anything out. Let me know what you have. I'll also take offers on these 45s but trade is my preference so no trying to cherry pick please. Sorted now. Hi all I'm after a decent play copy of Hot Wheels - Badder Than Evil - Buddah 389 Either Promo or Issue is fine. Ideally I'd like to trade and I'll do a good deal on a Northern oldie/collectable that would turn a profit if re-sold. Cash isn't out of the question though. PM please or email: mistergodzilla (at - replace with symbol) yahoo.com I'm going to be out until about 10pm tonight but will reply as soon as I'm back. After that I'm away from home between midday Monday and Wednesday afternoon (maybe Thursday if the weather's ok...) and I'll respond as soon as I return. Maybe sooner depending on wi-fi coverage in bits of North Wales Cheers in advance Paul (Godz)

Price / Rarity Re The Cleggy Stompers Thread In Look At Your Box
Godzilla replied to Soulman's topic in Look At Your Box
If you're a massive fan of Wayne Wadhams' work you should check out some of the Fifth Estate's 1960s psych/garage/baroque-ish pop stuff, although if I'm honest I have a real soft spot for post Wadhams 'Time Tunnel' album. I guess you might like their version of "It's Waiting There for You" as cut by Reparata and the Delrons. If I was a betting man, though, I'd wager you're not really interested in anything other than TSOB, right? (edit to sort out out late night apostrophe error...) -
We usually have similar tastes mate but this time this is right â" “

The horror, the horror...

Astral Trip has a kind of twisted logic that's completely absent from the Libra record. And just to put the top hat on, it sounds like it's about to go into "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus". Terrible.

.. and he's got all the gear on....

Not to mention being almost completely unrepresentative of "all of the recorded music in the world" as is the stated aim according to the topic starter. Think I'm going to build an archive of all the different types of bank notes in the world currently in circulation - heavy on large denomination notes would be a plus. Nice, crisps copies please! Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance.

Maybe be a bit more explicit about Rufus Wood being a reissue too?

Played briefly at Wigan and (I think) Wakefield Unity. Don't know the Charlie Rich song but I kinda doubt it's the same. This is a mad 100mph thing, probably trading on the Jetson name but nothing to do with HB productions as far as I know. It's on Pumkin records - but they're not barking ones like Frank Zappa's label....
