  1. I'll get my Northern wallet reinforced....
  2. Thanks - that's helpful!
  3. Not sure which section to post so please feel free to move mods… We’re considering getting tickets to see Georgie Fame at the above venue. I gather it’s essentially a jazz venue and lots of the ticket options include a meal. We’re ok either way, but it’s hard to visualise the seating options from the descriptions provided. Anybody have any experience of the venue please? Advice on best options / best avoided would be very welcome. Thanks in advance folks
  4. I assumed Dave Newman was probably Dave (David) Nunez. He still plays with The Freddie Chavez Foundation as far as I know. Am I wrong with this?
  5. This sentence seems to me to nicely encapsulate the issue: if people really believe that if they don't know a record it's no good, then that's a massive barrier to any DJ or venue daring to divert from the true and tested sounds.
  6. The people making the records may just want a sample - but the ones at the top of their game have always sought out lesser known (to a degree) stuff to use. That in turn drives a collectors market for people chasing original copies of the sampled tracks. Wu Tang Clan's sample of Wendy Rene's "After Laughter" drove that record from being a relative cheapie to a $2/300 45 for example.
  7. I know very few members on here in the real world. Shute and I joined the same year however and he always struck me as an interesting and informed member when he posted. Much respect to you sir. RIP.
  8. Update! They're on the RSD Black Friday list - 26th November https://recordstoreday.co.uk/black-friday-list/
  9. No mainstream music 7 inchers get demo releases these days. Draw your own conclusions...

  11. I'm intrigued as to why you think there's demand for this record. However, I just dug my copy out and checked to verify it's the same as the OP. It is. As this is the second time it's been played and was originally bought as New Old Stock I'd confidently grade it as Mint- Feel free to make an offer....
  12. I've got one of these somewhere. Never thought of it as anything more than an oddity/mistake and I've certainly never regarded it as having any significant value. Pretty sure it's been mentioned on here a couple of times before too, which suggests it's not uncommon....
  13. Pam Sawyer and Lori Burton so it's possibly another name for The Whyte Boots. Phillips promoted them as a trio of singers in the Shangri Las style but the record was actually produced and sung by Sawyer and Burton. http://spectropop.com/WhyteBoots/index.htm
  14. Please note: if you've ordered and paid your record is in the post. If you've ordered and not paid we won't be able to ship until next week as I won't be communicating with the shop on my holiday except for emergencies! Cheers!
  15. Candi Staton - Trouble, Heartaches And Sadness (The Lost Fame Sessions Masters) THE RSD release as far as we were concerned! 16. Ah, I get it now. Any remaining RSD stock gets offered no non-RSD retailers one week later. Juno clearly haven’t been informed that it’s been withdrawn
  17. Our Universal rep told us that that the two CP titles have been put back to RSD 2022. Can't see Juno getting it before RSD shops...

  20. This is an absolutely fantasic gesture and true to Bob's generous nature. My wife and I were lucky enough to meet him on a trip to Chicago in 2013. He was keen to take us to and explain the aspects of the city that, although not famous, were places he felt were culturally important. His passing was a huge shock and I still miss his contributions to Soul Source. Much respect to Bob's family for making this happen.
  21. You got a good price for that Albert Ross 45 for sure...
  22. There are old threads about City Skies on here. John Manship used to rate it at £1K and says he accidentally broke a copy of the "right version" and has never seen another...
  23. Hi John Apologies for any confusion: some people were saying this didn't exist on 45 and I was just commenting on the quality of the UMG Japanese pressings. I have a couple by Pointer Sisters (Don't It Drive You Crazy) and Odyssey (Battened Ships / Our Lives). I don't have the one you want I'm afraid. Cheers! Paul Godz)
  24. Those Universal Japanese 45s are fantastic. Feel like a brick and sound amazing.
  25. Vinyl isn’t cut Ed - It’s pressed from lumps of raw vinyl called pucks. More to the point, the vast majority of vinyl releases are pressed and warehoused in Europe. Hundreds of indie stores in the UK had orders cancelled by a major label in early January when a load of lorries were turned back on the way to Calais.
