  1. The point I was trying to make is that just because something isn't Northern, doesn't mean that there aren't places outside of the Northern scene where it would be perfectly acceptable to play it. I've dropped it in psych/garage sets next to stuff like The Countdown 5 and the Hallmarks and I think it's fitted in perfectly well. Like I said before, if it didn't share an artist/backing track with a record that's been played on the Northern scene, it wouldn't have been discussed on here at all. Nobody is claiming this to be a Northern Soul record but some folks can't judge a record outside of those parameters, unfortunately.
  2. Spoken as a garage/psych aficionado I presume?
  3. The link isn't the easiest thing to read but the key sentence is when the author says that the video includes " Mickey Lee Lane giving me the most unique acetate and possible only known copy of his own "Your Mind" " Like it or not, not a made up track. And 100% not released for the Northern Soul scene as it's clearly not a Northern Soul record, regardless of the backing track's history.
  4. Worth a read... https://lunch-wagon.com/video/lqFbbYJ7q7g/MICKEY-LEE-LANE-RONNIE-DAWSON-RARE-INTERVIEW-PART-ONE-HEMSBY-ROCK-N-ROLL-WEEKENDERS.html#.U-0DbkhVrLI
  5. I'm in the minority. Cool! Actually if it had a similar sound but different artist and backing track we wouldn't be discussing it on here. Can't see this release being aimed at the soul scene...
  6. How do you know JM put it out? It's been available for a while from a number of outlets. The Test Pressing for sale on Ebay has this write up: (please note the spelling of 'night' as 'nite' has f*ck all to do with me and I'd like to distance myself from it as far as possible). ............................. This PINK VINYL ADVANCE TEST PRESSING is ''1 of Only 5 COPIES pressed'' for the forecoming ' FTM Vinyl Series' Released on FLATTOP RECORDS, Mixed & Mastered By FLATTOP MARK. The A SIDE is taken from the UNRELEASED ACETATE of 'Your Mind' by The Sounds of Mickey Lee Lane'. This track has never previously been released and was only Pressed on the RARE BELL STUDIO ACETATE . The track has the back line Beat of ''Tracks to Your Mind'' by ''Sounds of Lane'' and a completely different vocal and lyrics to "HEY SAH-LO-NEY" by ''Mickey Lee Lane''. It has a fantastic sound and will fill any Dance floor, either in Rockin' Clubs or Northern Soul Nites across europe, it crosses over on both Scenes perfectly. It was previously only released on The Flattop Brothers ''One for the Girls Part 7'' (500 Press CD) in 2008 and has never before been pressed on Vinyl. The B SIDE to this Test Pressing is the Fantastic ''Wondrous Place'' By ''The Cherokees'' taken from their RARE MGM DEMO Released in the States & Produced by Micky Most. This track is an Uptempo Version made famous by BILLY FURY and is at the Moment being Highly Played on The Rockin' Scene's most Popular Radio Show ''Forest FM''. Hosted By STEVE STACK OF WAX ' on Wednesday Nites.
  7. With a typeface that looks absolutely nothing like the actual one
  8. Check your PMs please John. Cheers.
  9. Jamaican?
  10. You've left one of your Human League records in it, Benji
  11. I thought that too. Uncredited though if I recall?
  12. Why not just stop reading if you're getting lost..
  13. I can see what you're getting at, but to be precise you can't record from vinyl with 'higher fidelity'. Fidelity is a term used to refer to how faithful a copy is to the original source ie how much a record sounds like the original recording. You can re EQ the recording, by boosting base frequencies and/or enhancing the volume before having a carver or acetate cut to make it sound more aesthetically pleasing, but unless you have the master tapes to a badly pressed LP or 45 and really know what you're doing, you're certainly not producing a more accurate copy.
  14. I think that you may be thinking of 12 inch singles actually, Joe
  15. Might this help..?
  16. edit.
  17. I believe that's just how Lou Courtney and Robert Bateman billed themselves as producers on the record.
  18. I try not to post the familiar "how much???" posts on here but that Elijah and Ebonites price is genuinely astounding! £15 tops?
  19. Nice one Chris. I'll mail Monday morning. Cheers! Paul

  21. I could do that and I wasn't even there...
  22. Sharon Jones is an absolute force of nature, but seeing Saun and Starr open with Hot Shot really made my hair tingle. That Sugarman 3 version of Dirty Water was a killer too. No wonder I've had a limp this week
  23. I said to Mrs G "who the f*ck here is playing The Soul Rockers...?" Makes sense now Great tunes, John and the Revue was astonishing live. My sets in the Deluxe Diner generally over-ran so I was really relieved that I got to see whole show. We felt like we didn't need to see anything else afterwards We did though, of course)
  24. It's clear that the OP edited his post and removed the info. Maybe he should lock the thread too?
