  1. That Fred Perry looks like you've worn it work for sure - in fact it looks filthy!
  2. Don't like this terrific soul/funk album? Perhaps this is more your cuppa?
  3. Like I say though Pete, in recent years there have been tons of copies found in the US with the printed sticker. With the benefit of current knowledge it seems less likely that any repress was specifically for the UK.
  4. A lot of these records appear to be peoples favourites rather than exemplifying a specific music driven British youth cult. With all respect to the posters, the Don Covey 45 just sounds like an (admittedly fine) Stax recording from my perspective, while the Brothers "Are You Ready For This" exemplifies (again, to my ears) the sort of sounds you'd hear at my local Cats Whiskers disco in the mid 70s, rather than those associated with a pretty unique subculture.
  5. That's the point though - they are NOT stickers. The so called sticker is actually a printed part of the album cover made to look like a sticker. It's not over-printed either as you can't see the dark cover underneath it. I think it's more realistic to suggest a second run with the amended cover - and it was these copies that were eventually deleted and appeared as cut outs in the US and UK. I struggle to believe that someone would go to the trouble of printing a brand new cover for an album already deleted and would then put them back in the cut out bin. Surely it's more reasonable to think that either the label had caught on to the fact that it was getting played in the UK or, as Mike Lofthouse and I have already suggested, some radio play somewhere in the states and printed a new cover to reflect that...
  6. However, if you check Popsike you'll see that the majority of original copies with the printed sticker have come from the US. Also, I'm fairly sure the Bostocks copies with sticker were also cut outs. Is anyone in contact with any members of the group? It'd be interesting to find out if 'Pimp' was a radio hit somewhere.
  7. Brivinyl is absolutely correct. They were definitely available in Manchester late 70s with the 'printed on' sticker.
  8. I rest my case.
  9. Well done for translating that!
  10. Didn't things get bad enough without some of these!
  11. So possibly some Martian copies too - can't be too sure
  12. There's a few on Popsike mate - some cheaper than that too. Good luck!
  13. One sold here: https://www.popsike.com/The-Artistics-Im-Gonna-Miss-You-Brunswick-55301-Northern-Soul-Promo-VG/200661553182.html
  14. Not really - I just know to use a search tool Mind you - if you're thinking of playing stuff like Lucky Charms I'm glad I only visit London occasionally
  15. I was kidding originally - but now I think you should just stay in!
  16. You should get out for a walk sometime - it's lovely!
  17. I'd guess you're listening to them at home rather than in a large room over a big PA? My computer sounds great playing youtube clips through the hi-fi at home, but I know it would sound pretty poor out of the house. I was playing with a couple of (non-soul) DJs last weekend and one of them was playing MP3s from a laptop in a room that held about 500. Sounded diabolical next to vinyl. Same at an annual event I do with people playing all formats - we have hell on getting the laptop guys to sound decent if they're playing MP3s
  18. Someone played it at Wakefield Unity - Ginger maybe?
  19. I'm not disputing that Pete, but it'll have been compressed when you made an MP3 of it and then more info will be lost when it's cut to a carver - far from the best vinyl format in itself. It's one thing having acetates cut from vinyl, by first recording as a high quality WAV or AIFF file (which are not completely lossless anyway) but cutting a carver from an MP3 is going to result in something sounding inferior to your acetate, I'd wager.
  20. Personally, I've never been so affronted. I think you should be banned from this site and have all your records smashed!
  21. Because it would sound dreadful?
  22. In roughly the last three weeks, not counting any legit Kent/Outasite releases we've had lookalike boots of: Billy Arnell (Holly) Marie Knight You Lie / treat a girl (Musicor) Shane Martin / Lynne Randell (Epic) Milton Wright (Alston) Magnetics (Bonnie) Lucky Charms (Sugar Hill) Certainly more than one a month...
  23. My dad used to be a barber. In the 50s when blokes came in asking for 'Tony Curtis' he used to get the clippers out and give them a No 2 cut. When (inevitably) they'd protest "That's not how Tony Curtis has his hair cut," dad would reply: "He does if he comes in here..."
  24. There's difference between reputable (for example someone who has a good rep on here but still likely to be a hobbyist in terms of buying/selling) and being a pro-seller, who - as you rightly say - might be more expected to offer card payment options.
  25. As far as Soul Source sales go I think it's deal between individuals and therefore the details are up to them. I usually ask for family and friends payment and point out that I'm known on here and have a solid rep. However I usually take the approach that it's not a deal breaker. and if someone is really uncomfortable with FF I'll take the hit on charges.
