  1. Yep - sure has. Got my eye on the ultra-mega rare "Comb and Paper kazoo solo" copy though. Godz
  2. Does this sometimes get called "Rare with sax break" as well or am I getting mixed up? Godz
  3. Heh heh - thought that'd get a reply Seriously though, cheers for that Adey - I was gonna go at about £50 so maybe I was underestimating? Hey - guess what - Mine's a rare one too Godz
  4. Exactly. Which is why I was after some guidance on Lou Courtney. Still, if no one on here knows... Godz
  5. Queen of the Minstrels was on a free Studio One CD with the March issue of Mojo magazine. I'd never heard it before and I was stunned at the soulfulness of the singing. I must have played it seven or eight times on the trot and I can't remember the last time a tune had that effect on me. Sublime and superb Godz
  6. Can any kind soul please tell me current value for Lou Courtney - I watched You Slowly Slip Away on Philips Promo? While we're at it, this copy is probably VG in that there are numerous scratches and scuffs but it plays with little to no background noise. I reckon that should make it half price. I've seen some sellers who don't reduce items by anywhere near 50% however. Do we have a consensus on here about what the right thing to do? Godz
  7. Put ten bob in the meter Godz
  8. In the words of the late John Peel "More of the same please" Godz ps need a copy of Melodians - Come On Little Girl if you have a spare knocking about.
  9. There used to ba a fan site with audio clips but I think it was taken down quite some time ago. Sorry - this is not much use really is it? (doh!) Godz
  10. My mum bought me a "Star Jumper" after seeing Wigan's Ovation on TOTP saying "this is what they all wear at that place you go to isn't it?". Managed to swop it for a barathea blazer thank God! Godz
  11. Definately. Mind you Susan Barrett IS white isn't she? Godz
  12. yep top version. Nice go at "Brand New Me" too - in fact i think I prefer it to Aretha's. Godz
  13. Todmorden might have been a slightly more apt venue if memory serves Godz
  14. It's a cover of the Sandpebbles isn't it? Not bad as I remember, but I actually prefer her doing the more midtempo tunes like the stuff mentioned earlier. Mind you she did do a rousing version of Gloria Jones "Heartbeat" for a BBC session that was pretty exciting. Godz
  15. Just listened to "Take me to A Higher Level" As iTunes is my default player and I've got it on random with a bit of crossfade, the track just segued into Particle Man by They Might Be Giants Looks like it's gonna be a bit of an odd day Godz
  16. Worth picking up original issue of "EV'RYTHING'S COMING UP DUSTY' too. as well as Long After Tonight, Oh No! Not My Baby,That's How Heartaches Are Made and some other fine covers there's a tune that's a bit of a stomper called "If It Don't Work Out' - written by Rod Argent of all people (Is there a Zombies version?). The Lp is a superb package that opens up as a 12" gatefold album with some great colour shots of Dusty singing. "WHERE AM I GOING" is another winner. in fact here's the track listing: Bring Him Back Don't Let Me Lose This Dream I Can't Wait Until I See My Baby's Face Take Me For A Little While Chained To A Memory Sunny They Long To Be Close To You Welcome Home Come Back To Me If You Go Away Broken Blossoms Where Am I Going can you tell I'm a bit of a fan Godz
  17. oops ya beat me to it, Ken Godz
  18. Don't let Me Lose This Dream I Can't Wait Until I see My Baby's Face The best soul singer the UK ever produced. Godz
  19. To my ears it sounds a bit rhythm and gospel (R&G anybody ...) If you can't fiond yours PM me and I'll send you a clip - although one may have been posted last time we talked about this subject. Godz
  20. And if we did - did we talk about Lisa Taylor - Did You Pray Today? What a top tune! Godz
  21. Salem Travellers - Give me liberty or Death - Checker Didn't we do this a short while ago ? Godz
  22. Was Round and Round a UK thing on EMI? I think I remember RW playing it at Wigan. Pretty sure it was shite of the highest order too. I also remember Ginger getting mixed up once and announcing "Burning Bush" by the Gems - cue excitable teenager running round shouting "gimme a pen!! " Godz
  23. Good pont, Dave. Although you don't really know if they sell or not do you. Also, I remember from the pre eBay days, when I used the magazine, set sale stuff always shifted better than auction. Not being greedy - just clueless at pricing this sort of stuff. Godz
  24. I have some early UK released Tamla Motown LPs that I could do with selling so that i can continue to spend "far to much" (TM Mrs Godz) money on 45s. I'm not sure about putting this sort of stuff on eBay as I've never done really well with LPs there. Is there a better place to try to flog Motown? Cheers peeps Godz
  25. Me Too, No 40 is now The Wailers. Has Pete just bought the Ken Boothe track and shuffled the numbers up? Godz
