  1. We had a Chinese version called Wok Steady too... Godz
  2. Cheers Baz I put it down to the red wine. You'd have loved it round our campfire at Glasto last week when, at 4am, we realised we need to hear some Mexican Ska and promptly Christened it " Skariachi" (n Music containing elements of Jamaican Ska and Mexican Mariachi) ..or maybe you had to be there... Godz
  3. How about nice and easy does it? I just asked him a question about the Joy Division item: Hi, Can you hear the faint whistle of a skeedle from the studio tape on the last few seconds of the run out groove on this pressing? Crikey - I just invented the word "Skeedle" Let's see if he bites - I'll keep you posted Godz
  4. Nobody has bought anything from him though... and those pics seem to have come from a variety of scanners and cameras Godz
  5. I thought it was just a straight re-release. Mind you - just back from last day at work drinkies Godz
  6. I'm not knocking Garage music Kenny Just saying in this case the soul versions came after. And you're not missing much with Thelma's version. It's from the early 80s so naturally it's rubbish Godz
  7. Hang on a mo Ken, 96 Tears is a Garage tune originally (? and the Mysterians) There are a few soul covers though. Big Maybelle and Thelma Houston for starters. Godz
  8. It's just there - next to that lamp... Godz
  9. Still waiting for a CD full of reggae MP3s from a couple of moths ago that you refused to let me pay for Pete. Not hassling like, but, y'know, hungry to hear 'em. Godz
  10. One of my favourite lyrics of all time. From Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy: "If you had me in your blood, you wouldn't be so ugly" Godz
  11. I buy loads of old tosh from Car Boots and Chazzer shops. Here's an example of why Mrs G tries to keep me indoors.... Godz
  12. Interesting first post akauk. And your favourite soul record is...? Godz
  13. Van Der Valk wasn't comedy! TV drama series starring Barry Foster as the dutch detective, actually filmed in Amsterdam. The theme tune "Eye Level" by the Simon Park Orchestra was a UK No1 for a few weeks - either Parlophone or Columbia if I remember rightly. In our house we played the B side more. Can't remember the title (Distant Hills maybe?) but it was the theme tune to ITV lunchtime drama series Crown Court. They had a jury made up of real members of the public (Reality TV anyone?) and filmed to different endings. The one shown would depend on the verdict. If you're gonna play a comedy theme how about Benny Hill's? Yakketty Sax was a US Hit for Boots Randolph - of Take A Letter Maria fame - so there's you Northern Soul connection. Climbs out of own bum and heads for work Godz ps First episode of Van Der Valk was titled "One Herring's Not Enough" Now that is funny
  14. Couldn't decide which section to reply to On The Scenes message. As others have posted here this will do. Posting the same message in every section is behaviour of utmost Twattism and you should be put against a wall and shot. Yours tolerantly Godz
  15. I downloaded it using "Straight-to-Trash" which moves it straight to your wastebasket so you don't have to bother listening to it. Godz
  16. Good for you lad! Did you hear the one about the... ...nah - forget it. Godz
  17. I agree completely Christian. Just checking you still had your sense of humour. Did it hurt when they removed it Nice scatalogical theme ya got going there too Love, Godz
  18. It's the way I growls 'em Godz
  19. No they don't Christian, they're all Divs. Except you Godz
  20. Old enought to remember Godz
  21. Don't think I could whittle it down to three. As well as those already mentioned there's people like Ollie Mcloughlin, Jimmy Wisner, Robert Banks, HB Barnum, all that Chicago stuff from Carl Davis and Willie Henderson... And then there are the Arrangers too. Think about the contribution to this thing we call Northern Soul by guys like Arthur Wright and the kickass sound of Miles Grayson. That's just a few from the top of my head. good thread though Godz
  22. I've only got a pink one at the moment (oops, sorry mother! ) but I've held the two together before and they were identical. I've had both pink and yellow copies from the States well before eBay days so deffo not boots. I've had a pink and a yellow copy from Canada too so that doesn't make things any clearer. So are we saying they are about the same rarity and pricewise nowadays? Godz
  23. I've seen a couple of copies of Living Color's "Thank the Lord for Love" on sale recently that were described as "rarer yellow copy" It was one of my faves at the old Wig and I must have bought and sold over a dozen copies over the years and I have definately seen more yellow than pink ones. The pink issue was definately the one to have in the 70s. Has this changed? What does the panel think? Godz
  24. Don't know if everyones aware of this but I just glanced at the obit page page in todays Guardian. Very sad news. Got to leave just now - maybe someone can do a link to Guardian's website? Godz
  25. Or if you really wanna scare 'em: https://shop.store.yahoo.com/stylinonline/godzilla1.html Godz
