  1. Isn't it Hargrave? This one ain't in the book though... Godz
  2. Cheers guys. I'll try both of those and let you know if it turns out any cop Godz
  3. I have a 45 that I can't find any info on. The only online referrence I have seen is a post on a rock 'n roll forum from 2001. The poster says he's heard a rumour of the discovery of the rarest UK rock 'n roll 45 and he was asking for verification. He got no replies. I've emailed him through the site but he hasn't got back to me as yet. I need to contact someone who knows about rock 'n roll to find out if I have the holy grail or a whole crock. Obviously I'm not counting chickens and all that but it would be nice to find out. Any ideas team? Godz
  4. As Malc says Road to Ruin has the sound efect from Saxie Russell on the intro and at the mid-way break. The main body of the tiune though is a big chunk of Bernard Purdie's Testifyin' looped twice. It's from the Soul drums LP which got a UK release on Direction, as well as the US Date issue. Some great funk breaks on thatt album if you like that sort of stuff. Godz
  5. His Blues & Soul column was crucial reading if you needed to compare the pie prices across various venues. Godz
  6. Now ask me one about pop music Godz
  7. Sounds like Jack Jones. Or Mel Torme but I'm more inclined towards Jack... Godz
  8. And he should be called Howard... Godz
  9. Here's one in a little more detail Godz
  10. Yup. Rainbows - Help Me If You Can on Capitol - booted as Detroit Shakers - Help Me on Soul Cat. Even more frantic than the 'Beinz. Feckin' barmy record these days but as a fifteen year old stamping about in the youth club... Godz
  11. Isn't Geoff referring to the acetate of "You're Ready Now" as scanned in his post? Godz
  12. Any decent ones? I'm setting off in 10 mins so be quick Infrequent Godz (c. Simsy 2006)
  13. intentionalized! Jebus Baz you're rumbled. You are really George Bush and I claim my ten pounds!! Infrequent Godz (c. Simsy 2006)
  14. I think Ken means Nicole Willis and, although I quite liked 'If This Ain't Love" I saw her and the band live a few weeks ago and was really disapointed. Give me Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings live (or on record) any day of the week. And I don't mean "what condition" either. Infrequent Godz (c. Simsy 2006)
  15. Simon, Huang Chung is what Huang Chung were called before they were called Wang Chung. But after they were called Scabby Harry - or was that Intellektuals? Bet this post gets a few on here scratching their heads Huang/Wang Chung were a bunch of Quernts anyway but it makes a change from the oldies debate. Infrequent Godz (c. Simsy 2006)
  16. Haven't we had this topic before? If so I may have posted these before - Argentinian I think:
  17. Posted this on the funk forum where I thought I was more likely to get a result but it all went a bit Mike Oxlong so having a go on here. If anyone can help out with Billy Garner - Brand New Girl on BGP I would be very grateful. Will pay up to £30. Cheers Godz
  18. Cruelty beyond belief What next - "baggy" nappies? Godz
  19. Ahh - but was it the Betty Lavette version or the Kenny Rogers and New Edition version? Probably heresy to say on here but I think the Kenny Rogers version is miles better than any of the covers Godz
  20. Sounds about right. I remembered it from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Amazing read. Postman's been but nothing from you as yet. I'll probably get it tomorrow and as I'm off all this week week I'll be able to mail the tune same day. I'll keep you posted mate (ouch!) Godz
  21. Yeah, I think people were moaning because they couldn't go into their local shop and order it for a quid - they would have had to pay £1.25 from a dealer instead Agree about Babylon copies being tougher so it must have shifted a fair few copies here in the UK. Mind you, whoever said Babylon sound qaulty was spot on. I've had a couple lately and they were both noisy styrene. Godz
  22. How about adrenochrome? Don't you have to bite someone in the back of the neck to get to the good stuff? Man, I gotta try some of that! Godz
  23. Seem to remember Searling got some stick in Blues & Soul letters pages over this. He was accused of deliberately waiting until the record had been deleted before starting to play it. Godz
  24. Anybody got any spoode? Godz
  25. Russ used to play Mari Wilson's "If That's What You Want" - B side of her first release. Love Man on GTO. Think I still have a pic sleeve copy of this somewhere Can post a clip if you like but not until after Monday when I get back from Big Chill. Godz
