  1. Will this keep you going? Gigi on the left. Godz
  2. Have you heard 'My Heart would sing"? It's a bizarre little ditty - starts off like a fairly twee pop song then goes kind of funky garage. It's miles less commercial than Hey Little Way Out Girl, and as it's the official 'A' side it's no wonder it didn't sell on release. Unmistakeably the same band though. White or not I really like the lead voice and the girly back-up is sweet. Godz
  3. All sold now Ta! Godz
  4. Thanks Pete. I can probably do it as easily be altering the kbps rate on Audio Catalyst which (as a mac user) I normaly use to encode. Reckon I was just to lazy to look up preferred bit rate and assumed a minute at 160kbps would be ok. Obviously not. If anybody wants clips I can still attach MP3s the old fashioned way and PM them. But not till I get home this afternoon. Ohio Players LP on hold by the way.
  5. Clip didn't appear here! Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe they are just to big. Ah well. PM me if you'd like an MP3 clip of any of the tracks highlighted above. Worth a listen if you're not familiar with any of them. Cheers Godz

  8. How much unissued Motown left. Hang on I'll just have a look Godz
  9. I think there must have been a number of groups called The Fuller Brothers. There was one (white) with Jerry Fuller in it and I think Bobby Fuller was also in a band of the same name before Bobby Fuller Four. Wonder if the pic is either of those? Freddie Hughes mentions what I assume is the black group: Freddie described those early days in the Bay Area; "I was under age but the people had talent shows at various clubs. I was able to get in and sign up for the talent show and sing these songs which a couple of DJ's liked. They called me the "Male Little Aretha Franklin". I did one talent show singing "Talk To Me" by Little Willie John - I was about 14-15 years old and I won the talent shows at the Showcase and Sportsman Club. I was up against Wylie Trass, The Fuller Brothers, Johnny Talbot and the Thing, Marvin Holmes and the Uptights etc. I know Edwin Hawkins and his brothers personally and I sang in their group when I was coming up because we went to the same church. I worked with Eugene Blacknell for years in San Francisco at the Ghetto Club. John Turk and the 3rd Street Annexe I worked with them for years." Godz
  10. I always thought he was white. Turns out it was more of a yellowy colour... Godz
  11. Manchester Sports Guild. (Long Millgate? ) Near the cathedral. Godz
  12. Not really mate, I think he just grabbed the one off Amazon. Gene also listed some rare UK Rock & Roll 45s, but I think that if this does turn out to have any value it will be as a UK produced 45 - as opposed to US productions issued over here. Godz
  13. Charles Diamond has a pic of the reissue on his site: https://www.charlesdiamond.indiegroup.com/photo.html Mind you the Sunlovers pic ooks pretty iffy too. you could always contact him through the site for more info. Godz
  14. Well the thick plottens... I contacted respected Rockin' collector Tom Ingram, as advised by Mischief on here and this is what Tom had to say: Paul Here's one response I got... It's one of the rarest of British rock & roll 45's, Roy Williams used to DJ with a copy back in the 80's, it's a bit sappy vocal wise but has a great guitar break, I think Mark Jones (Lamarr) also has a copy, as does Bob Thomas, I think it was a one off release from that label, & I seem to remember that it was owned by an Elecrical repair shop (or something like that) I don't think anyone ever found out who skip was!! Tom Dammit. Maybe I should have grabbed that second copy before Gene got his mitts on it. Have to say I didn't know Mark Lamarr's name was jones either! Godz
  15. Sounds like you should invest in some decent carpet mate Godz
  16. 1210s are great for DJing but for a home Hi-Fi you wanna be looking at a decent belt drive turntable. Agree with you about having a mixer to tweak recordings though, Steve. And the diddy missions are great entry level speakers. I have some in the dining room that must be nearly 20 years old and still sound nice. Godz
  17. These are nice and red... Godz
  18. ...and as Col bangs in the final nail... Godz
  19. Ah well. An afternoon's fun anyway. Besides, Scarborough is lovely at Christmas Godz
  20. I've only seen a starlight repress thing from the 80s but yes, it did look similar. As for letting you know, don't worry Toby - If it's a winner you see wants a plenty appearing on here. Unless Mrs G gets her way of course, in which case it's Christmas in Paris Godz
  21. Been looked after too - probably just because it wasn't played much. I got it years ago in a huge job lot that included lots of London and Brunswick label rock 'n roll and doo wop. Nearly all the good stuff was trashed though. Godz
  22. Here we go then. Pretty unusual label for UK at that time. looks legit and not a private press as it has all the standard copyright stuff around the edge. I know there's some jolly well amazing knowledge on this site so maybe someone can shed some light. Skip Madison and the Rockomatics - "Rockin Home" / Wory No More" Cosmo (UK ) CMD 1 Cheers Godz
  23. OK ta, will do. It's from 1961 though, actually. And I've just realised I haven't mentioned what it is yet. Not being mysterious - I'll chuck a couple of scans up in a moment so that people can go - "I know that - it's only worth ten bob" Godz
  24. just phoned Mike and he hasn't heard of it so maybe that's not such a good sign. But who knows? he suggested I try Deke - which I will do. I've also tried to email Record Collector but you have to fill in a form and I keep getting a failure notice. Looks like a Mac vs PC thing. Exciting though! Godz The one that recorded on Bell then....? Godz
