  4. Ok I'll put it back - guess away! Paul
  5. Anybody up for a bit of fun with this? I've put up an MP3 mix of 12 diferent versions of well known tunes. They range from dead easy to rock hard (I reckon!) and all except the last one are 45s. See how many you can guess. It's only a bit of Sunday afternoon entertainment so don't take it to seriously and feel free to have a punt. Alternatively you might just fancy listening to some nice tunes There's Jazz, blues, funk, easy, even something a bit countryish but not much in the way of Northern so best not download it if that's all you're into. The file is about 34 MB so you might struggle with dial up. I've scanned all the labels and will post them up after any correct guesses. Here's the list of songs and the link. Good luck Ode To Billy Joe Son Of A Preacher Man Jim Dandy It Was a Very Good Year You Don't Love Me Watermelon Man Wichita Lineman Bang Bang California Soul The Beat Goes On Am I The Same Girl Woodstock https://www.zen108856.zen.co.uk/images/A1%2...%20Familiar.mp3
  6. Sorry if I've posted this before. My memory's like a.. errr... thing with holes in at the moment. Can anyone point me towards any info on this. Despite the size of the writing I once read that LD was actually the artist - suggesting Ivy Joe Hunter and Mack Rice were the respective writers. Nice credits though with production by Johhny Mae Matthews and arrangement by ADC band (ex-Black Nasty) Godz
  7. Tac Taylor - Cut You Loose - Rosebud Any idea on current price / any demand for this? Googled it and saw a couple around £60 but that was a while ago. Any help appreciated. Cheers Godz
  8. Is this the same song that Chris farlowe recorded on Decca? Godz
  9. post deleted
  10. OK Cheers.
  11. Are you the same Indiana Funk that uses that eBay name?
  12. There are at least two other 45s on Pre-Vue: Sweet Marjorine / My Song 002 and Come / Prima / You Give Me Life 117, but I think they're just teen type things. By sheer coincidence I googled him on Saturday. There is also an Album on Kent which rather frustratingly has the flip to "seven Days" on it - "You Really Know How To Hurt Somebody" - not sure if it's the same recording as the Pre-Vue cut though. "Seven Days of loving You" is a damn good record whether it's soul or not Godz
  13. Could the seller be using Record Collector Magazine's grading system? GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. Godz
  14. That one about weeing in the snow... Godz
  15. Is that like Brown and Bitter...
  16. Cheers Mel Was it Sam? or were a few people playing it? I've just remembered that I had a record with a blank label that I stuck a Letraset Action Transfer of a blue shark on and stuck it in my sales box for a laugh. Loads of people were like "is that the blue sharks - how much?" What an idiot I used to be Godz
  17. When was that Mel? I remember someone (Sam?) playing it in the late 70s, probably at Wakefield Unity if memory serves. Godz
  18. - I'm cute!............... Or so Mrs G tells me anyway. Mind you she says I ain't put much weight on too...
  19. Agreed Ken. What on earth is it about this record that's causing people to be rude to strangers, use "angry face" emoticons and so on? Strange. Godz
  20. Can't tell who your replying to. If it's my comment, well I am real and I said it's a nice version - not better. I just think it's a nice version and the fact that it's rare is a bonus. It'd still be a nice version if it was a tenner. Are you seriously saying it sounds like Muriel Day though? Godz
  21. Ignore them Mark, it's a great version. Any chance of a scan please? Godz
  22. We did this back in 2005. My memory ain't ususally that good but it stuck in my mind because it's one of my all time faves /index.p...mode=linearplus Godz
  23. Old Keith Minshull spin... .... Gotcha! Godz
  24. Come to think of it I think the Shakers on ABC were actually Cashman, Pistilli and West (aka The Buchanan Brothers) They cut at least one LP for ABC and there's a connection with Jim Croce too. I guess most of their stuff would be in a country rock vein with little to interest us. Godz
