  1. Those with eyes not quite as keen as Chris's will notice that bloody great print used on the title, although spread over two lines on both Canadian and boots, splits them differently: Boot says A Lil Lovin' Sometimes Canadian says: A Lil Lovin' Sometimes ...and that's with my crappy eyes...
  2. These are good tips. I'd add John L Jackson's 'A House on Fire' for the Philly scene and Rob Bowman's 'Soulsville USA' (Stax). Also, Ken Emerson's 'Always Magic in the Air', which is all about the Brill Building team, so not exclusively soul, but covers Bacharach and David, Pomus and Shuman, Leiber and Stoller, Goffin and King, Greenwich and Barry and therefore the Coasters, Drifters, Dixie Cups, Shirelles, Bessie Banks etc.
  3. There are about a dozen of us from North Yorkshire and North East England coming over. My second Stomp and I can't wait!
  4. I guess there's a lot of competition these days with Facebook etc, but for me Soul Source has always been the yardstick by which Soul Music forums (and arguably music forums of any kind) are measured. Long may it remain so thanks to the often unsung hard work from Mike and the team. Many happy returns Soul Source.
  5. Hope the DJs who entertained you back then weren't quite as cynical or as disparaging about their audience
  6. Apologies. There was nothing in post above when I added the auction result. Now redundant so deleted the post.
  7. That was exactly the point I was making. Second time round I sold my 45 for £550 in less than an hour and it was paid for immediately. No commission, no fees and it went to someone who really wanted it. I'm really glad I didn't go down the high profile auction route in the end.
  8. I associate Eddie Garrigan with Sam (Johnny Moore c/u). Not saying Richard didn't play it mind. Bloody impossible record to sell nowadays
  9. I assume you've seen your guy's neutrals, Chris? Had to return item, £9.00 out of pocket, not such a great experience.Buyer:g***t ( 4860) During past month Reply by e_i_addy_o (Aug-24-15 06:35):THIS BUYER WILL GIVE EBAY A BAD NAME. 10. There was one on ebay just over a week ago I think. Clearly listed as a repress - by the current seller at least. What happens next depends on who bought it I guess...

  12. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. In the end I stuck with advertising the 45 I had in mind myself. The golden lesson for me was that a lot of folk miss things so it's worth persevering. First time listed not a sniff. Second time sold within an hour and comments about what a hard record it is, wish I'd seen it etc.
  13. Didn't Paul Kyser do a repress from original plates with virtually identical labels?
  14. Is it really that tough on Action?
  15. That's handy to know - ta mate
  16. Thanks Randy. Any know about Tim/Anglo? Cheers!
  17. So I've been wondering, when people send records for auction with the likes John Manship and Tim Brown, what percentage commission do the dealers charge? Cheers
  18. That's ok - I take money too...
  19. Got one - any decent trades? PM me if you like
  20. The same article suggests another up an coming look. Maybe they're expecting a late 70s period Mecca revival too...
  21. I can't tell if you're being serious but just in case you are, nobody has said the the blue print original is anything but that.
  22. Wasn't aimed at you mate - just a general comment about how pointless all the hand-wringing is
  23. Time everyone stopped bellyaching about all this stuff and just embraced it. It's f*cking hilarious actually
  24. Just had a look and the Anglo one has the later 2309 Holman address for the label - as opposed to the 3602 Dowling on the original. It also credits the writer as (Anton) Valier, rather than Collins on the blue text copies. Everything suggests it was cut after the original. In fact I can't see anything to suggest that it wasn't pressed at the same time as the acknowledged reissue... edit: looked back through previous discussions and people with copies of the reissue confirm it's vinyl, not styrene (like Hammie said above). Exactly like Anglo's therefore. My copy bought before it was re-pressed Current auction copy
