  1. That's it!! - I forgot all about the LPs. Just checked and it is indeed of that cheapo Philly LP. I think I even posted a question on here about it. Must have dragged it out while deep in drink. I feel even dafter now but at least I can sleep tonight. Cheers Chalky Paul
  2. Any ideas then? There have been a fair few listens by the looks of it, but no suggestions as yet. I know it's hardly the most important tune in the world but it's really doing my napper in. Can't be that tricky if I've got it. Just been through a few hundred 45s with no joy
  3. Cheers Mick. I don't think it can be that unknown or I'd know that I had it - if that makes sense I keep thinking it must be a b side to something that we just flipped on the night thought was ok. I feel a right idiot, but maybe a bit less so now as no one has jumped in and said "it's so-and so you pillock!" Someone must be able to put me out of my misery. Maybe I should just get psst again... Paul

  5. Well, a couple of weeks ago Mrs G was away on training and my pal's wife was also away, so we got some beers in and had a 'record night'. Now it's fair to say that we drank more than the government guidelines recommend, and I ended up digging out all kinds of stuff and we recorded some of it onto a memory stick for my mate. This weekend I get an email saying "what's that thing that sounds like Paula Durante?" I ask him what on earth he's on about and he sends this track back and I can't for the life of me think what it is - and it's obviously on of my records! Had a shufty through the stuff I put away recently and am none the wiser. Anybody help a codger losing his brain cells? Track in next post
  6. PM sented
  7. Actually I doubt it now. I posted same time as yours about the push out middle. Not likely to be European then. Mind you I've just spotted your user name - it's not an Australian copy is it?
  8. Also European issues on Tamla Motown. Most of then come in pic sleeves too.
  9. The very white Dobie Gray ">
  10. You know what it's like - you hold it for a month then they post on here but won't answer your PMs. Ah well. Nice, tough white promo of this all time fave. Reckoned on this site to book around £40, here's a copy with wax that's as close to M as you'll get - and for only £30. Recorded delivery to UK is £1.80 and paypal is preferred. feel free to PM questions or email: mistergodzilla@yahoo.com Cheers Paul
  11. Thanks chaps but I really would like to hear for myself. I know a lot of people are very happy with them but others have said there's a marked loss of quality and the comments that they are a bit "middley" fill me with dread. Also I struggle to see how you won't lose some quality a) during transfer and using a medium that's designed to be carved into rather than just the best material reproduction wise. And I'm a bit picky too Think I'll probably just take a punt and put down to experience if I'm not happy.
  12. Not sure if this should be here or in wants - so mods, feel free to move. I'm thinking of maybe having a couple of unissued gospel sides cut for a gig I have in a few weeks time. Now, I've seen the debate and it appears opinion as to the sound quality is pretty much evenly split, so I wondered if anybody might be able to help me to decide for myself. Anyone out there got a carver of a track available on CD that they can record to MP3. If so, how about sending me both versions by PM or email so I can have a listen. Obviously, both tracks will have to be recorded at the same bitrate etc so that a fair comparison can be made. Actually I've just realised that might be a bit of tall order so I'm fully prepared to be underwhelmed with responses Off to post office so I'll check to see if anyone's up for it in about 40 mins. Cheers Paul
  13. Ok it's not a 45 but they're out there. I'm just too lazy to look.
  14. What's the score on this album? Apart from the three obvious Supremes covers and "Jumping at the Go Go", are the rest original tunes? And come to think of it, which came first - Jumping ATGG or the Four Larks Groovin' at the Go Go? Oh yeah, and of course the obvious: Current value? Paul

VG+ shows some wear but no real discernible loss of sound quality. label might have a little wear or flaking. VG++ looks played, odd mark but sounds close to mint. 16. I got eyes mate I've also got ears and I don't think he's Chris Rainbow either
  17. Actually it's even clearer on the other side. Pink as owt
  18. I don't think the Mickey Moonshine ever had an inverted Matrix at all. I do however know how to tell the difference. I used to collect the Decca label in the mid/late 70s - both US and UK - much to the amusement of pals due to having dodgy Dave Berry cover versions and so on in my box. But I digress. Anyway, I took a particular interest in the reissues as I had originals of John E Paul and Micky Moonshine. Here's what I spotted: When the first issue of NIYGI came out Decca was still using 60s style paper. If you looked closely around the push out centre, or scratched the surface of the paper you'd see it was black underneath. By the time of the reissue the backing or none print side of the label was pink and if you examine carefully you can see it around the centre. I'm going to add a scan of the John E Paul reissue. Zoom in bigly around the centre and you'll see it. At the time of the reissue I worked in a record shop as my Saturday job. I confirmed the pink under-paper theory with represses of Rolling Stones and other Decca records that were kept on catalogue and always stocked by the shop. Original John E Paul did have inverted matrix too of course. Did mention this a few years ago I think. Paul
  19. I feel like I'm in a weird film. Anyway they are doing violins on Antiques Roadshow now so I'm off to watch that again. Cheers for all the info Proffy - not that I'm much clearer apart from the fact we agree that the Monarch stamp makes it around the right date. I'll be seeing lizards eating cats with large and small writing in my sleep now though. TTFN Paul
  20. Yes it's a styrene WD. Maybe your vinyl boot was owned by a hedgehog
  21. That's an issue! I thought we were talking about two different promos
  22. Sorry mate - Antiques Roadshow It's got the Monarch delta 85954 as well as Lizard 1010 - all scratched in. That number makes it early 70s doesn't it? Which is about right I'd have thought. Paul
  23. Sort your priorities out mate So have you seen them with print larger or smaller than the scan I posted. Which is not a reissue btw you cheeky monkey...
  24. As I seem to have been left dangling by the profonics (ahem!) I've just stuck it in sales at £30 anyway.
