  1. Diddn't really pay attention. I think it's to do with ebay not allowing sellers to accept offer cash as a payment option. There's other people calling them gestapo in bits of the site other than records.
  2. Just thought I'd resurrect this thread with some new info. Even if we Brits don't think the Blue Sharks are Italian, the Italians do. A quick google search shows that Stelvio Cipriani did indeed put out library music as Blue Sharks amongst others. Interesting that the seller of this one doesn't know about "These Things..." though.

  6. Well I lived in Manchester at the time - maybe we were just determined to believe they were Scousers in that case
  7. I was always led to believe they were Scousers. Probably a bit of misinformation but you never know. Record's a complete load of balls anyway.
  8. This one's better though.
  9. Just came across this. Not the best quality unfortunately and apologies if it's been posted before.
  10. What's your criteria for evaluating the responses? Come to think of it, what's your qualification for passing judgment in the first place?
  11. got·cha play_w2("G0205050") (gch)interj. Used to indicate understanding or to signal the fact of having caught or defeated another. Nah, just messing mate. Couldn't resist. Sorry
  12. So what does that make my maroon Pye Nixa issue then?
  13. I think they're still making the second press... ...
  14. That's what I thought. I appreciate a seller may be trying to provide as much info as possible but I think rather than write "Plays VG+ on intro, EX-/VG+ after that, EX- after that" as I've seen today, I'd just put a sound clip up
  15. I've just seen a case where different parts of the records are grading separately i.e. vg at the beginning, ex in the middle and so on. Seems a bit odd to me as I'd have thought the usual way was to give an overall grade then mention any particular flaws like a couple of pops, cue burn 5 seconds etc. To mind doing anything else defeats the point of grading. Am out out of step here?
  16. We Almost Lost Detroit. Stunning song about the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant partial core meltdown. Damn scary stuff!
  17. I have the opposite problem. I just start to scroll and it shoots away and won't stop. Never tried this scrooling though. Do you have to be over 18?
  18. Exactly. And to take that a step further, even if you argue it's not Northern sounding and just a nice dancey Garage /Frat 45 - does that automatically make it rubbish?
  19. fraid not mate. Well beyond my Kraft.
  20. oh - b. 1950s btw
  21. But surely the definition has changed? This subject has been debated over and over and a lot of people accept the definition that if it's been played in a Northern soul club it's Northern Soul. That's a theme that links traditional Motown sounding soul, pop stompers with the right beat, 70s, instrumentals, Latin, modern, UK cover versions, Beat ballads and so on and so on. I bet Mel Britt and Billy Woods wouldn't have gone in that "Uptempo Motown" sounding box for a start. What about NF Porter's "Keep On Keeping On"? Played at Torch and about as un-Motown as you can get. And those examples are off the top of my head. I think some of your own original spins completely dispel the argument that only Motownesque sounds are Northern Soul. Finally, people set out to make Jazz, reggae, techno etc. I think you'd be hard pushed to say that there were many US artists responsible for what we call call Northern Soul records who deliberately made them to appeal to record buyers in the North of England.
  22. No more puns - I camembert them!
