  1. Depends what you're playing. I virtually always cue up with headphones. Makes for a more dynamic set I think. I acknowledge that I'm in the minority here though and I suppose a big part of it is that I don't really play sets that are exclusively Northern these days.
  2. There are often tales of bad practice and untrustworthy sellers on the forum, so I just thought I'd share a tale of people working together to the benefit of all. I was going to list a 45 in sales last night but say that Lenny H had already posted one the same day. Didn't want to spoil his sale so I hung on. This morning, after seeing he'd sold the record I contacted Lenny, told him what I'd done and asked if he'd had much interest. Lenny was kind enough to let me know that three others had wanted the 45 and I subsequently contacted all three and offered the record. Result: two of the three got back and I agreed a sale with the first one to get in touch. All done with cooperation and friendliness between all parties. Just shows it can be done. Cheers again Lenny Godz

  4. Don't think the previous discussion mentioned that it's actually a Jeff "War of the Worlds" Wayne composition. He's actually done some cracking theme tunes and advertising music. If you spot a 45 of his version of "Apes Shuffle" from Planet of the Apes grab it. Totally whups the original version by Lalo Schifrin.
  5. So answer me this then James? Just who are these remixes aimed at? Have they ever been played in Happy Hardcore clubs? Have they? Have they? Name just one if they have. And how are you defining Happy Hardcore? Come on give me your definition? Is that records have been played in HH clubs? Is it? Have any of yours? Which ones then? Name one - go on. And while we're on about it - what happened to your huge haul of obscure Gabba from Matalan? What records were in it? Give us an example. What mighty bouncy techno classics are going to set the HH scene alight and restore your rightful place as the King of Hardcore? Name one, just one. You can't can you? Oh yeah. What about those packs of bouncy techno 12s you keep plugging. More than a million pounds worth of records you said. Whart's in them. Come on COME ON. I heard people have been very disapointed. They've been full of old crappy chart techno and uk rereleases of Prodigy covers haven't they? Happy Hardcore? My arse.
  6. Nah, Just haven't been on the thread since I skulked off and fancied a bit of trouble causing. Failed miserably really
  7. Who's this Marvin feller???
  8. Works fine for me. Mind you only takes you to Juno's MP3 link. You have to pay if you want the whole track. Agree with you about the show: Fantastic Telly. Thought you only watched it for the suits though!
  9. Actually I've figured how they do it now.
  10. Do I have to everything for you Trev! Link for lazy sods Paul
  11. You never, ever, see them in the same room at the same time. What does that tell you?
  12. Amazon link
  13. The pot can't talk about the kettle / Gossip don't worry me ~ BLUE STAR 79 (1964) from Sir Shambling's deep soul site. On a Deep City album/CD too I think
  14. You bin at the donk?
  15. Helene Smith
  16. Ahhh. Better wait until the New Untouchables come back to town then
  17. It's essentially a Soul Galore record - even though it says Super Sound. Same as Rita Da Costa. None of them are really rare, although I suppose some like The Inticers and Fabulous Jades are a tad less common as they weren't as popular as stuff like Four Perfections and Jimmy Mack.
  18. There's a scooter run to Scarborough this Easter and I wondered if there would be any point going there with a box of records to sell? Never actually been to any of the bashes before, although I usually go and have a gander at the machines. So, is there any point or would I be wasting my time? And if it is worth doing when's the best time? Daytime or when the evening club nights are on? If anybody can give me a bit of advice I'd be very grateful Godz
  19. I can believe it but it used to be a very common record. I used to fall over them at Shudehill Market in Manchester but I guess there was little demand for it in those days. I understand there's some unissued stuff by her in MGM's vaults. Wonder if it's all show tunes like her version of "My Funny Valentine" or if there's anything else remotely like "Slipping Away".
  20. Mamie Lee mate I'd say about £40 but seen it quite a bit higher.
  21. I think the first stage in grading is to look at the thing. Picture tells a thousand words too Otherwise grade separately. Failing that you need to give a really detailed description but you certainly can't say "Mint but damaged label". That's like saying there's a thousand quid only £400 is missing...
  22. I had a few copies which I knocked out or swapped at £25/30. Found it virtually impossible to sell for the Two Timin' side but plenty of funk collectors go for "I'm Not Ready for Love". Rightly so too - much better tune IMO.
  23. Cheers Joe Wasn't a mile out if that's the case then. Have you noticed that they often keep the US or European cat numbers so some of them start with 45...
  24. Been meaning to ask this related question: why do some South American 7 inch singles play at 33rpm. Argentina springs to mind. If I was to hazard a guess I'd plump for the availability of cheap record players that only play at one speed. Doesn't really sound right though - anybody got a better answer? Godz
