  1. oh - isn't any of those two either. No hits of any kinbd as far as I can tell so gals like Toni are right out. Bernadette Peters has been in Ugly Betty. There's speculations she has had 'work' as she was born in 1948

Hey - was only kidding about the spelling - just saw the irony given it was the word accurately. No argument with your statement about those jazz tracks that you like. Might beg to differ regarding Miles though. There are far more squiddly dudes and his Porgy and Bess album is essential Sunday morning listening round these parts. Don't tell the naysayers though
  3. Youve gone back to the UK She's American Goddammit!
  4. Peggy was a blonde and had a successful career as pop singer
  5. AS? NFC
  6. Not Nikke Blu or April Stevens. Played later than those two I think. Not as well known as April either. Well done for having a go though
  7. Muriel Day was Irish and Nita Rossi English, although of Italian descent. You know that other continent I mentioned? I meant not Europe - including the British Isles Nita Rossi did some good stuff though, didn't she?
  8. Sunny sang back up on 20th Century Boy. And also sang with Dusty, Mott The Hoople, Joe Cocker, Love Affair LINK Like I said though - not from UK so not Paper Dolls either, mate.
  9. No embarrassment in having a punt folks. I'll take questions to which I can give yes / no answers if you like. No actual clues until we've had a few more guesses though.
  10. Nope. This singer never sang with T Rex. Wrong continent in fact.
  11. Nope. But I can see why you might think so
  12. Turned into a jpeg so it shows in post
  13. Maybe a bit late for this but worth a go: Just found this when cleaning up the desk top. Who's this blue eyed lady that had a Northern Soul played in the 70s then? (edit: See next post for pic)

    Jazz

Not surprised you weren't sure what I was saying Sutty - some strange editing error ran loads of my words together. I think you more or less got my meaning, although I would suggest some people sometimes use a sort of lazy shorthand. Some folks simply say "I don't like jazz" rather than digging a bit deeper and separating out the stuff they really dislike from the sort of jazz that doesn't generate such strong feelings or (the horror!) they might even like

    Jazz

No - but I can spell 'accurately' accurately Seriously though, Jazz is such a wide genre can you really say your emperor's new clothes statement applies to all of it? There's Jazz that's referred to as "squiddly jazz" in our house, which is not our cup of tea, but that doesn't mean we apply a blanket dislike of all jazz. Plenty of Jazz tunes have been played on the scene too: from oldies like Cal Tjader's 'Soul Sauce' and Ramsey Lewis' 'Wade in the Water', through records such as Terry Calliers's Ordinary Joe to modern stuff like 'This is What You Are' by Mario Biondi. Are they all over rated pretentious tunes? And if they are, is it because you don't like them or does the fact that they are jazz tunes automatically make you dislike them? Not aiming this question specifically at you, Cod. Applies to anyone who says "all jazz is crap"and I'd be interested to know what makes tunes like the above so rubbish. Without any falling out of course
  17. He did a cracking version of the old Ides of March song "Vehicle" that came out on a Soundway 45 a couple of years ago or so.
  18. I was just gonna say Helen Shapiro...
  19. Doesn't seem to be working does it? Still posts appearing titled 'wanted' or 'just a cheap one'. I've never understood the logic behind making it appear like a guessing game. If people genuinely feel their post stands out more by giving it an (ahem!) original title like 'Anyone got one of these?' why don't they use the subtitle line to state what it is they're actually after? I guess like most things there will be a reason why people prefer to make you click on the post but I'm durned if I can suss it. Any offers?

There's a copy on my trades list which is on here. I think I have it listed about £15 for a decent playing VG promo. Godz
  23. Thanks Paul, I'll give you a shout to discuss details in the morning. Cheers Paul
  24. Except it wasn't ever played...
  25. Thanks Paul, that's very helpful. Not sure if I made myself clear, but I wanted advice on paying sales tax or VAT twice. One of the UK companies I contacted has already quoted me a price for mastering over here and then getting the 45 pressed in Europe. Just wanted to be able to compare prices in order to help make the decision. As you rightly suggest it gets complicated when you're trying to negotiate an one off deal by yourself so it looks like a broker such as the company I mentioned is the way to go. To be honest I've never even contemplated getting the record pressed in the States. Don't understand what the advantage is in getting them done that far away. As for Royalties, that will be incorporated into costings and I understand we do that through MCPS. Only one side will be liable so that shouldn't impact too much. Thanks again for the advice, Paul (Godz)
