  1. No - ask me if it's on a well known label next... and I didn't say it was big - although it was popular enough to get booted and came out on a CD comp. That's loads of clues!
  2. Nope Nope Nope First clue: There's another version of this (maybe the first?) from 1969 on a major label. This other version is a group and someone has already suggested the first word in the groups name when they had a guess.
  3. Are you two in the same room? That's poppy enough but not her. I have a feeling you'll get her now you're on the right lines. as long as Webby doesn't say Mary Wells or something like...
  4. Cheers ken - good idea. Not Joanie though. In fact I've revised my guess about her and I think she's a bit more of a Wanda Jackson type rock n roller, rather than a teener like Joanie
  5. That's getting closer in poppyness Wendy. Maybe the closest so far? Don't put too much weight on that though, as I don't really know anything about Susan Coleman apart from her doing age of the Wolf. As an aside I have my X-Ray Specs on and I can see who the anonymous members watching this thread are. Wish they'd join in and have a go but I bet they don't...
  6. I like 'Music' and I really like the flip "No Sunshine". This is a much worse tune and played a little later, Ken. As a matter of fact I've just googled her as I haven't for a while and it seems her other record isn't as obscure as I initially thought. In fact it's appeared on some Rock 'n Roll compilations
  7. Obscure enough I reckon but Judy's tune is too good. Remember I said it was only played a short while in the bad old years and I'm pretty sure it's never been reactivated.
  8. I been laughing at him all night and it's sure not de nobody. But it ain't de somebody...
  9. Didn't say anything - I only have the photo I posted to go on and I thought she looked white. Certainly sounds white anyway. Ace records have just put out a mighty fine comp of Sugarpie's work and she had hits in the US and singles released in the UK and Europe so she ain't obscure.
  10. I think she's been in films. Not her anyway
  11. The one in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? Far too famous mate
  12. Didn't she have a hit with a version of Doug Sahm's "S/he's about a Mover" ? Not Dottie either way.
  13. Rita had quite a reputation as a jazz singer I believe. Her Northern record is far better than this gal's too.
  14. None of those but you're all getting warmer - or was until Sheldon's Jackie De Shannon (nothing personal!) She had an amazingly successful career if you count the stuff she's written. I'm still willing to answer questions with 'yes' or 'no' answers if you like. Otherwise I'll give some clues after tea
  15. Nope = good call re: two records. However, neither of this girl's records were hits. The one known to the souls scene sounds like it from around 1970 (at a guess) and is a pop record that got played in the 'anything goes' years. I think it's pretty rare but so unfashionable it wouldn't stand a chance these days. Someone liked it enough to throw it up on Youtube though The other record I know of I haven't actually heard. Judging by this pic I would guess a sort of 'teen' thing. Sounds like there's a Motown connection with this one too - don't think there is however. More clues when I get back from work
  16. Gotta hit the sack guys and gals. Cheers for having a bit of fun. I'll let the night owls carry on guessing and post the answer tomorrow. In fact i'll send a freebee record to the winner Cheers Godz
  17. Pat Upton????
  18. Except Anita Hulmes is black. Other than that you're well on your way to solving it. Here's another clue Suz - aint a bloke either ps- not Liz Verdi either
  19. It's called Bluebeard.
  20. I'll get me undertaker's shovel...
  21. American Scousers???????
  22. Joey Heatherton who recorded on Decca and Coral and was in the nuddy in a Richard Burton film? Too famous mate
  23. No to all of those. And; 1/ Wendy Dubbin - get a grip! 2/ Ken - Timi is too well known Come to think of it, Stevejan, Geri Grainger is too. As far as I know this lady only had two records. The Northern one and the one I nicked this pic from You're all good sports though
