  2. Yes there was a buzz about them, I always felt that over the course of a night you could hear just about anything and the list of guest DJs was very strong and thats before we touch on the Niters held there and the live artist performances. There was even a short tv feature with Mark Randell, couldn't find it on youtube tho.
  3. Yeah definately from late 90s, Dramatics, Pat Brown, Jeff Floyd & Aleshure were all 90s releases. I think the second upload was more of an oldies spot until Eddie Hubbard Djs, but its funny because on the 1st upload you can hear people talking about there is too much modern stuff and this wouldn't got played at Wigan! Glad you enjoyed them. Steve
  4. Part two of the live tape from Newbury.
  5. Part two of a live recording of Yate from late 70s.
  6. en years + later I found my tapes again so like the Yate one I posted earlier in another thread, here's part of the above playlist, more to follow over the next few weeks. I did find a note in the box to send copies to Russ, Eddie Hubbard, John Smith and few others, no idea if I actually did, if not hopefully this will make up for it!
  7. FInally found my old Niter tapes, here's the first side from Yate which includes one of the most iconic Yate records Frankie & Johnny, Other records associated with Yate also on the tapes I found include On A Magic Carpet Ride (still covered as Chris Clark) and Kris Petersons "Just As Much.
  8. Shoulda called yourself the Fisherman mate!
  9. I must have missed this thread, but for those of you who were on EMS and don't know, there is a FBook version but sadly its nothing like the Forum with mostly event promos and very little song content, although some folks do post up their Mixcloud uploads, shame EMS was such a goldmine of information.
  10. I think there are more out there than we think, certainly a few appear to be snapped up a few years back for a LOT less than you'd expect to pay now, great tune !
  11. This one?
  12. Some great records here, I'll add 1. Marvin Gaye - My Love For You 2. Marvin Gaye - Where Are We Going 3. Etta James - Can't Shake It 4. Kenny Lewis (?) - Not The Marrying Kind 5. Naural Impulse - We're Gonna Make It 6. Relatives - Something Worthwhile 7. Detroit Strings - The Pocket Nice thread!
  13. Soul Bowls packs were usually very good for 70s and as tastes changed a few of the 60s tunes also went onto be popular, certainly had Innersection, Lou Kirton, most of the more popular U/A stuff like JB Bingham, James Gadson, Cornelius Bros, Capitol releases like Barrett Strong and Brown Sugar, 60s wise the ones that stand out are Wade Flemmons 'Jeanette', Tonettes 'Gotta Know' Jimmy Soul Clark 'Champion', plus multiple Jackie Wilson tunes such as "Lost You, also presumably as it was so common Spyder Turner " Make It" was in a lot of packs., happy days indeed
  14. A friend of mine got a lot of EMIs, think they were from France or Belguim, anyway the worst one he had was the Hawaii Five 0 vocal / instrumental which sounds awful now, but whenever did spots in Youth clubs etc they packed the floor. Fast forward a few years and he is sellin them off at Wigan a few at a time and had them in a 50 count box with some originals and a guy picks up the box to look thru and says the box is too heavy, must be emis in here and preceeds to tip the box back and forwards and then says if I get the number right, can I have one for a quid, if I am wrong I give you a quid. My friend says no way you can guess that so sure and ofc the guy guessed right and got a copy of Paul Anka / Carol & Gerri for a quid, funny times. Steve
  15. Fantastic posts, thanks for sharing!
  16. Great write up and a real treat to see the video (thanks Pete) Steve
  17. Many thanks for the offer mate but there are around 40 in this box and there is another box he has but hasn't found yet. This one is Yate, Notts Palais and Wigan, the other is Stafford, Peterboro, 100 Club, should be interesting listening, was gonna convert and chuck the best ones on mixcloud so people could have a listen. Its amazing how few people have cassette players these days, been asking friends n family, will most likely have to buy one eventually. Cheers
  18. Oh thanks, will check it out!
  19. Hi, was sure I saw a topic on this a while back, but had no luck finding a recent topic with search so.. Just got hold of a load of 'live' tapes and went to transfer them to Cd and my tape deck is no longer working, having checked it out it looks like either new belts and/or a motor will be required, so can anyone reccomend one of the purpose built converters out there, having checked a few reviews most seem to have poor mechanisms and run off USB causing speed fluctuations. Not too fussed about sound quality as these are all 15 years + old. Thanks
  20. Amazing site, its just gone from strength to strength, long may it continue! Steve
  21. Great channel, so many forgotten plays Mark Atb
  22. Mel Britt "She'll Come Running Back" Gwen Owens " Wanted & Needed" Herbert Hunter "Born To Love You" Nomads "Somethings Bad" Thankfully no ones played em back to back or I might collapse
  23. Hi Russ I've got a few live tapes, I'm off work next week so will dig them out and post up some track lists and if you want a copy just shout Cheers Steve
