Ted has one in sales section.
-
So they were playing oldies in M's then. It was just that you didn't know they were oldies.......
-
I can't comment really Russ, because I never went. But I was told by people that did go, that as soon as Mr. M's opened most people rushed in there, rather than listen to the new stuff being played in the main room. Phil.
-
Sorry I didn't notice that.....that's despicable, recording someones spot without their knowledge.
-
Martin, I wasn't condoning this item. On the contrary I hate bootlegs of any kind. I was just making the distinction between EMI's [shite quality] & carvers [very good quality] Also, this recording was obviously done from one of the original [very rare] 45's. so in turn must have been done with the owners permission. This works fine while the owner of the "cut" plays the game. But the new ebay owner can now cut as many as he or she likes......that's maybe why it went for so much money. As a business opportunity? Phil.
-
Get in the que Johno.....this is proving to be a very tough one....you got a bargain off me Ted.
-
There is a difference though EMI's are old technology, and all the ones that I ever heard were absolutely crap sound quality. And, they deteriate very quickly. The carver on the other hand, is very good quality sound, and will last for as long as a record if looked after. If you play the soundfile, it's fantastic sound quality.

M- copy of this mega rare Stafford spin......TONY DANIELS - I WON'T CRY - BEVAL......Can be heard on Manship's rarest of the rare. Offers over £600 please by PM.

I can't agree with that Jimmy, it's just a drawn out version that spoils it for me. That's what I always loved about 60's and early 70's 45's, they have an intro, tell a story, build to a climax and there gone. Bang, fantastic and leave you wanting more......play it again, play it again. You can have too much of a good thing. Just my humble opinion of course. Phil.
-
Never seen one....must be rare surely? But at the end of the day you can get a demo fairly easily for £150 - £200, so only worth more to a collector. By the way, there was someone on here that was desperate for an issue of this tune......sorry but can't remember who it was....but if you put it in the search box you should find him....he's advertised for it many times. By the way, this tune is in my all time top ten......awesome performance.

What Are The Current Big Spins Of The Moment?
Quinvy replied to vince ayres's topic in All About the SOUL
They are all terrible to my ears......the xover one ain't bad, but I'm not in to xover.....but the others aren't good enough to be played out in my opinion......if the Tommy Dent was £20 nobody would touch it.......and that bloody zu zu man.....I preferred the watts 103rd street rhythm band version that Ian Levine played at the Mecca in the early 70's.....Brown Sugar......and that was rubbish..... -

Only Dancing To What You Know when did this start Mr. M's

If you use a decent pair of headphones ie. Stanton Pro 3000 the volume is massive, and records can be heard clearly even in an allnighter. Why the heck you would want to play 45's at a picnic the mind boggles. The Vestax has very low volume, and if you are listening to a tune and want to take it off, the tone arm is very difficult to lift without scratching the record. Also, the Numark has pitch control, which is very useful. The tone arm is very easy to take off the record. The sound quality is pretty good through an amp, and deffinately preferable to the Vestax. I also have an original Sound Burger. These are very good, but much more prone to being upset at an allnighter. The headphone cable is prone to getting caught around the player or tone arm. Also the lid being up can be knocked by people reaching over for records out of boxes etc. and very susceptible to vibrations through the table. It also depends what you want to use the deck for. I imagined that the original poster wanted to use for record sales at venues or buying trips. After all, that's what they are designed for. If you want to play vinyl through an amp, no portable deck can hope to compare with a proper turntable with a good quality tone arm/cartridge. For listening to 45's at allnighters, and for buying trips to the states or record fairs, I stand by what I said. The Numark is the best I have come across. Phil.
