............................ ............................ .............................. ............................ Changing Scene When The City Sleeps C/w You Can't Destroy My Love Harry Bass (of Shrine fame) teams up with LaMont Johnson for a recording session of imaginative, individualism and attitude. BOTH sides deliver Northern Soul how it should be, a brass driven beat rode by swirling male group vocals that get kinda angry until the horn arrangement quells their rampage. Both sides are wild, unbridled runaway truck dancers of the very highest calibre! I'd NEVER sell mine, if you owned one would you? Sorry, this item has already been won! The Summits "toy Soldiers" On United International
Quinvy replied to Gasher's topic in Look At Your Box
Thanks for that John. That's sublime male group harmony......not really northern, but very good indeed. -

I can't agree with you on that Bob. I've always found the lead singers voice [intensions] very grating to my ears. Screeching almost. Thank you for sharing your knowledge though mate. I never thought Toy Soldier sounded like a Carolina's recording, but I would never have doubted Butch and Andy's superior knowledge. I like Toy Soldier, but it's the "I'll be over tomorrow" track that I was always looking for. Best regards, Phil. -

Strange, I can only find the one release with "love is blind" on the flip. I wanted to hear the "I'll be over tomorrow" side. -

I've tried to find a copy for a few years, before I sold up. The consensus from Butch/Andy Dyson was that it's a Carolina's 45. I'm desperate to hear the I'll be over tomorrow side from the other release. -

You can see the difference in a review from someone on the outside of the scene......the problem for me seeing the film was, I have seen it and heard it all before so many times. Especially the This England footage, that I felt cheated......on the other hand, if you were seeing and hearing everything in this film for the first time? who knows? maybe you would be very impressed? Phil.
-
Just shows how bad things are when this hasn't sold, absolute bargain for someone......
-
That's good to hear Karen, at least they are using people of the right age, and your Lottie looks the part......very promising......I love Elaine's work, so I'm very hopeful of the outcome. Phil.
-
Pete, it really is poor. I was desperate for it to be good.....but it's just not mate.......the trailer is better than the film.....all the best bits are there. I look forward to your opinion, when you have seen it. Phil.
-
I saw the film on Saturday.....I was desperate to enjoy it....unfortunately I was disappointed.....most of the dancing scenes were the out takes from This England......the script was poor and was crying out for some humour.......most of the characters were completely unbelievable.......the wait continues for a movie we can all get behind and enjoy.......I won't hold my breath....... Phil.
-
I'm the same mate. Even as a teenager I was s**t at spinning. I think you can either spin or you can't.....don't think you can learn. I would kill to be able to do the moves like that guy on the film......it must feel fantastic. Sadly I will never know.
