  5. Anyone know who won the auction? I used to love ebay before it became a secret society.
  6. Blimey, a bit off topic guys, the OP just asked for the end price not the Spanish Inquisition, NOOOOOOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!! This one usually goes for around £4k
  7. The voice of reason, well put Andy. When you are involved in a scene that evokes so much passion in it's followers, i.e. Dj'ing and trying to find new things to play. Bearing in mind that this music hasn't been produced for 40+ years. Then the lines of what constitutes a "Northern" record, are going to become blurred, as the searcher struggles to find suitable 45's to give impetus to the dance floor, and the changing taste as we evolve and get more mature [Grumpy] I have never been worried about the colour of the artiste's skin, just as long as it has that indefinable "something" that moves me to dance. However, in my own search for the ultimate Dj set, when I was involved, I applied a rule of thumb for records like this one [The Grey Imprint] and it was this. "Would you buy this record if it was easily available, and cost £20? The answer for this particular record, and from a personal perspective would be "no"
  8. Wish I had a box full.
  9. I think The Guru [Rod Shard] has put the auction prices up. Not sure though as I don't get on here much these days Ged.
  10. This was a massive play for Cliff Camfield from 2 or 3 years ago at the old Burnley Allnighters. Covered up as - LITTLE JOHNNY BLAIR - RIGHT ON - This I pressume is played by all and sundry by now. This however is the quite hard to get white demo copy, and is in lovely condition. Sound quality is much cleaner than the issues, and to me looks much nicer. BOBBY PATTERSON - RIGHT ON JODY - PAULA W/DJ EX+ £50 Bobby Patterson.mp3
  11. I think Phil is Implying that a good way to get people to give you their rare records to auction is to have a lot of high value auction results be they real or imaginary. Who would know? No I didn't mean that Ged. If you had had any dealings with the auctions then you would know the score. I'm not about to make allegations on an open forum. I'm just saying, that if you believe everything you read, then you are being very naive mate. Of course I doubt anyone would go to such lengths. I mean business just isn't like that is it? Isn't it Phil that often posts up the results of a well know sellers auctions. Nope, not guilty.
  12. It's definitely one of those that sounds much better played out. In the grand scheme of things though, a classic it ain't.
  13. I would change the thread title to "Do some people believe everything they read on auction sites?" Jackanory, Jackanory.

  15. Can't agree with that Dave. "Things a lady ain't supposed to do" is far superior in every department. Better song, better production, and better vocals. "Let's take a look at our life" Emory's voice becomes quite grating after a while, in fact the whole thing starts to irritate, and I wouldn't buy it again. Unless it was cheap and I could sell it on that is. It's one of the loudest records I've ever heard too by the way. You need to adjust the levels on the mixer when you play it out otherwise you will get distortion and deafen everyone. The fact is, the dance floor decides. Play the two records in the same set [i have] and see the reaction.
  16. Think you would struggle to get 600 for it to be honest.
  17. It's never been a grand, I would say £400- 600. I had an issue which is much rarer, but I struggled to sell it. It's not a popular record with the masses. The 4 dynamics is very rare, and to be honest a much better 45.
  18. My God, when will people realise that it's not about lists of records, it's about "Passion". If you hear a tune that moves you to want to dance, then buy it, and play it in your set.......do that 26 times and you won't go far wrong.

  20. Sorry wasn't sure on this hence the question mark. Top, top, record, and I don't normally go for 70's stuff. I always remember the first time I heard Butch at the first Lifeline at Sheridens. He played this, Joseph Webster and Purple Mundi........which to me are the best three 70's records ever made, just brilliant. I got a copy for a mate off Butch a couple of years ago 2.2k I think it was, and it was far from mint. There was some discussion at one time that the Palladium release was dodgy? Anyone know the truth?
  21. 1.Lil Major Williams - girl your so sweet That's a thoughie, I would have thought around £2k for an original on either label. Been reissued though hasn't it?

  25. I remember the first Lifeline allnighter there. It was the first time I had managed to hear Butch Dj'ing after being recommended "you must see this guy" by Guy Hennigan. I even took my tape recorder to record his spot..............WOW! I don't think Butch has ever done a better set since that night, I was completely blown away. The place was rammed, that was a very special night indeed. The place was a dump, the dance floor was downright dangerous [i used to dance on my own on the little dancefloor in the other room] but it certainly had atmosphere.
