  3. No idea why you bothered with the Willie Parker. I struggled to sell the original.
  4. Received the above in an email from Tim this morning, so maybe it will become a feature. The JM auction result can be accessed on his site for a week after the items end.

  6. But I'm sure the winners of the records on Tim's auction will be highly delighted, as will Tim. It's impossible to tell who is bidding on eBay auctions now.
  7. There's no such thing as a fair auction. If you don't like the way it's run, then don't get involved. How many times have I had a snipe on a record on ebay which has been pulled because somebody offered the seller a huge amount of money to do so? Shill bidding is rife. At one time you could spot it easily, but ebay have made it impossible to see who is bidding these days. You can't even check what people have been buying on their feedback anymore.
  8. Since the film, records that were flogged to death have now found a new lease of life as the newbies [hate that word] and the returnees all look to buy the real class records. Like Chalky said, Janette is a prime example. A record that is just so good it will always be wanted. Records can appear to be common when they aren't in vogue, because you see them constantly for sale. As soon as they get played, those copies disappear, and you realise they are quite rare.
  9. What a record, keep waiting for it to jump like the acetate did. Used to lift the roof off at the old Burnley nighters. Ordering my copy now!
  10. You would be amazed at how many people haven't a clue how to use basic equipment. Most turntables are belt driven and don't have strobe lights. They can be miles out. Also, if someone has been playing with the pitch control and not put it back to -0+ it may not have been noticed by the person recording the sound files. A lot of the early northern soul CD's were recorded at the wrong speed. I only noticed when years later I got the original vinyl.
  11. Current Auctions LOGIN OR REGISTER NOW TO PLACE YOUR BID Auction: RSV-876 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: LUTHER INGRAM Title: If It's All The Same To You Babe / Exus Trek Label: Hib 698 (W/D) Condition: M- Actually the first copy we've had of this for quite a while must be getting rarer, demand sky-high of course. Reserve Price: £300.00 Current Bid: £400.00 Auction: RSV-877 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: BOBBY RICH Title: There's A Girl Somewhere (For Me) Label: Sambea 101 Condition: VG++ Massive about a dozen years ago for those few deejays that had a copy and hardly ever turned up since. A 1974 dateline on this one, tho’ it sounds a little earlier. Reserve Price: £1,500.00 Current Bid: £1,500.00 Auction: RSV-878 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: SIDNEY BARNES Title: I Hurt On The Other Side Label: Blue Cat 125 (W/D) Condition: VG++ The original version of this classic tune seems not to have ever got an issue – promo only then, as is this one. Reserve Price: £300.00 Current Bid: £395.00 Auction: RSV-879 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: JOHNNY HOWARD Title: The Chase Is On Label: Bashie 101 (W/D) Condition: VG++ Storms along, murdering the Artistics’ version in the process, a great piece of Chicago soul. Reserve Price: £200.00 Current Bid: £200.00 Auction: RSV-880 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: EDWIN STARR Title: You're My Mellow Label: Ric-Tic 120 (DJ) Condition: M- For sure one of the rarest Ric-Tic releases – but on a promo copy rare indeed. Great flipside too, ‘My Kind Of Woman’. Reserve Price: £200.00 Current Bid: £230.00 Auction: RSV-881 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: BETTI LOU & BOBBY ADAMS Title: Dr. Truelove Label: Tra-X 16 Condition: VG++ Super soulful, gritty and great, Northern pounder with a slight R&B edge. Hardly a mark on the vinyl but just a slight ‘greying’ demotes it from mint. Reserve Price: £500.00 Current Bid: £650.00 Auction: RSV-882 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: TONY CLARKE Title: Landslide Label: Chess 1979 (W/D) Condition: VG++ White promo is the one to have on this, one of the all-time classic Northern sides. Reserve Price: £400.00 Current Bid: £430.00 Auction: RSV-883 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: CHARTS Title: Livin' The Nightlife Label: Wand 1124 (DJ) Condition: VG++ Another one that I don’t think ever got beyond the promo stage – and what a side it is. Memories of being stunned by Ian Levine’s ‘Solid Soul Sensations’ L.P. back in 1975 with this rarity one of the stand-out tracks. Reserve Price: £400.00 Current Bid: £0.00 Auction: RSV-884 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: THE "5" ROYALES Title: Catch That Teardrop Label: Home Of The Blues 2580 Condition: VG++ Still going strong with the R&B crowd, quite rightly so because it’s a great mover. 1st label before ABC-Paramount of course. Reserve Price: £200.00 Current Bid: £450.00 Auction: RSV-885 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: WILLIE KENDRICK Title: Change Your Ways Label: RCA 9212 (W/D) Condition: M- Always was one of the rarer RCA promos and time hasn't changed that fact. Flipside ‘What’s That On Your Finger’ is now the business as well (need I remind you?). Reserve Price: £250.00 Current Bid: £298.00 Auction: RSV-887 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: BOBBY LONDON & THE AMBASSADORS Title: Apple Of My Eye Label: Spyder 101 Condition: VG++ Very obscure Carolinas dancer which is definitely a black singer and group, unlike many Carolinas’ Northern records. A rarity for sure. Reserve Price: £200.00 Current Bid: £0.00 Auction: RSV-888 Ends: 24/06/2016 14:00 Artist: GARY SOLE Title: Holdin On Label: Knight 102-38 Condition: M- Fantastic late Wigan spin, rarely seems to crop up for sale these days. If blue-eyed soul is your bag, this is a gem! Reserve Price: £250.00 Current Bid: £350.00 FOR MORE DETAILS +44 (0) 170 681 8604 Copyright © Rare Soul Vinyl 2009 - 2016
  12. Thanks, I did check on there earlier, but had been given the wrong album name. Many thanks.
  13. Anyone got a copy of either of these albums for sale please?
  14. My pleasure.
  15. Is there an echo in here?
  16. I've never seen a Palmer issue, anyone got a scan or picture? I remember a few years ago somebody must have found a small box of Palmer demos, and quite a few came up on eBay, all mint. The Palmer has far superior sound quality too.
  17. Any of the dealers, or put them up on here and enjoy the arguments as people come on and tell you how much they were worth in the 1980's.
  18. I have sent Cd's in the past, but most have their own online download facility these days. But I'm sure they would still be able to take Cd's no problem. Will just take a bit longer with postage etc.
  19. Just ask him mate, he's always been happy to oblige when I've asked.
  20. We called it "Twinkle, Twinkle little star" because of the intro. To me this record is magical, and takes me straight back to the Highland Room. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.
  21. In actual fact, many of the big ticket tunes have been fetching far more than the prices in volume 6 for a long time now.
  22. OMG! Sell, sell, sell,.
  23. The classics are all going for big money. It's the film.
