  1. I was thinking of trying to do one, but have a few questions. How long [duration] can each pod cast be? Do they download in real time? Any useful advice? Thanks in advance.

  4. I have always prefered the Debbie Curtis version, typical as the Juan Williams seems to have turned up on ebay.
  5. Never knew that.
  6. Yes, Butch and Mick H.
  7. That answers the question, who got the ones that went through ebay then. Fred Krol and John Parker. Just one we don't know about, unless Richard Lewis had the other?
  8. All joking aside, big boy [sorry] the Richard Caiton I have only ever been offered for sale once. And I've never even seen the Debbie Curtis 45 at all, ever.
  9. Blimey that Dave has a big one. Are you a porn star in your spare time Dave?
  10. I wouldn't do the gig, you can't do a good set with 12 tunes.
  11. Apologies then Dylan, I thought you were condoning the playing of an across the board music policy but obviously I was wrong. Sorry about that.
  12. I agree it doesn't, but it very rarely happens in my experience. Good taste is open to opinion, but you need to make people want to dance. I don't care what anyone says, that's what the whole scene was based on, "DANCING" I'm not really into soul music per say, I'm into northern, and that means a tune that makes you want to dance. I don't care if the artist is white, yellow, brown or black, or indeed an instrumental, as long as it moves me to want to get up off my arse.
  13. Apologies Phil, I missed that post as I was on my soap box...... But yes I agree the bats were a master stroke, and indeed went on to give the venue it's name. However, I did notice some other promoters were trying to steal the name for their own venues, and without realising the time and trouble that I had taken to arrange a coven of bats to perform to rare soul music, at my given signal. The cheek of it...........some people really.............
  14. I can't agree with that, unless of course you are talking about all eras and genres, i.e. 60's, 70's, 80's & northern, r&b, modern etc. trouble is, most of us don't enjoy all the genres, so wouldn't support a venue playing it all. Then there's the fact that most people who want to DJ are on a limited budget, so basically you are asking people to travel all over the country, to pay to go into a building and listen to very poor quality and and in more cases than not, their very bad taste, all played on very poor quality, and badly set up equipment. At the end of the day, most events on this scene are "very" amateurish. The promoters will think nothing of paying a small fortune on a 45, yet are quite prepared to play it on any old rubbish. To me if you are expecting people to travel a long way, pay to get in and come on a regular basis, you must make sure they have a good time. 1. The venue must be suitable. Right size, good location, plenty of parking. 2. The sound system must be spot on. 3. You should only employ Dj's who you would travel to hear yourself [not just your mates, or the guy that says all his friends will come if you give him a spot]. And if people ask you for a spot, and you don't rate them. FFS say no.....and if you see that one of your Dj's empty the dance floor for more than a couple of records, go and give him a rocket. All this back slapping and nobody dares to call a spade a spade, is what makes for a stale scene.
  15. No Bob, I think he's saying that he sold it for a third party, and has already paid the third party his money............
  16. The crux of the matter is................they are all played out oldies to some people................it depends what era you were out and about the first time around.............then, when you were born again,..............then, where you have been going since being reborn...............one persons up front newie, is another persons played out oldie.............you can never win............I personally find that the people who were on the scene in the 80's, simply know everything [well almost everything] and are impossible to impress.
  17. We all used to be dancers........now we are too old and knackered.............so now we are all Dj's.............but we can't get a spot anywhere.............so we start our own night................why is it not packed?..............Too many Chiefs...........not enough Indians. The End.
  18. I agree, don't see it for sale often, and when you do it sells very quickly and usually around £1200. The gold label boot, or re-issue what ever it is, is around though.
  19. YOU NEED TO BUY A SPARE PAIR AND LEAVE THEM AT THE SIDE OF THE PC. THAT'S WHAT I DO........... I WASN'T BEING NASTY, I WAS JUST LOSING THE WILL TO LIVE.
  20. That's the four tracks, we were discussing the FOUR VOICES..........FFS
  21. Wonder why it's so bloody rare then?
  22. It actually plays very well. https://www.mediafire.com/?dw6d7826696aejh
  23. I think he would have done if the lead was longer......... I keep telling him we should get a band together doing northern covers, and get on Britain's Got Talent....... I have a very pleasant light baritone myself you know...............
  24. That's the one mate, thanks.
