  1. Ah, didn't realise you were on here Neil. In answer to your questions; 1. Yes thank you. 2. Definitely not. 3. Definitely not. Happy New Year.
  2. you've just gone down in my estimation Terry. bloody hell, I've just realised my smileys are working on't iPad
  3. I think you will find they are the same few copies that have changed hands since the 80's. The Springers I mean. Of course there are bound to be unknown copies in collections, but in all the years I was on the scene I very rarely heard it played out.
  4. Hear, hear. Anyone who says they have never bought a record that they heard elsewhere and thought wow I must have that, is either a liar, or isn't human.
  5. Surely if demand started to rise Timmy could re issue them. But would you play it out?
  6. Are we talking at cross purposes here? Bearsy, I presume you must be talking about Ray Agee? There can't be that many copies of the Springers about. Springers = 4/5 copies? Ray Agee = 20 copies?
  7. How many known copies are there?
  8. "Back in the day" it didn't matter that people taped and bootlegged the big tunes. The dj's just played some fresh tunes and discarded the "ruined" records. The fresh tunes have long since dried up, and if you can get excited about going out every weekend and hearing the same records over and over again then good luck to you.
  9. If the records that were played in the 1970's had been readily available to all, there wouldn't have been a scene. Every record that was bootlegged was immediately dropped from the playlist. The whole scene has been built on elitism. If you don't get that concept, you don't get the scene. Your argument has come from people who want to cash in on the popularity of this music by setting up events and playing bootlegs, re issues and even off lap tops. What next karaoke? The magic has gone. Most events are now social events for old people in fancy dress.
  10. If you re read my post I actually said that the value of the original record isn't affected. I don't know where you are from, but the whole ethos of the "Northern Scene" was built around the rarity of the music. The reason it has lasted so long is because one half of the scene has refused to accept the playing of anything other the original pressing at public events. It doesn't matter how good the music is, familiarity breeds contempt, and the easy availability of even the rarest tracks on you tube, Cd and cheap re issues means that people no longer need to attend venues to hear the music. This wouldn't be so bad if there were any new discoveries to replace the classics, but there aren't. These cheap re issues aren't being bought by people who want to listen to music they don't know. They are being bought so that they can be played at public events thereby undermining the Dj who has spent many years and many pounds acquiring the original. Anyway, I no longer collect vinyl, but I still hate the re issue of rare records.
  11. Any guesses how many known copies?
  12. That can't be right surely? Got to be one of the rarest and best 45's on the planet.
  13. Makes you wonder what Manship would get for this and the Springers. Has either 45 featured on his auction? I can't remember.
  14. You won't. They are all being played as originals by Dj's who can't afford one with the blue print.
  15. So what's it worth these days? £2k?
  16. You should know by now Mace, you will never stop the bootleggers. Now all this time has elapsed since these records were made, it's open season on re-issues I'm afraid. I'm totally against boots / re-issues what ever you want to call them, but most of the dealers/Dj's have been involved in some way or another since the early seventies. Better they make bad look-a-likes rather than trying to counterfeit the originals. It's never affected the price of originals to proper collectors anyway. Relax mate.
  17. What's up Mace? A bit touchy aren't you?
  18. I'm sure Tim Brown said that Ray Agee said it wasn't him on the record.
  19. I like the record and it looks great, but I find it impossible to dance to, so I've never lusted after it.
  20. I give up...........knock yourselves out..........I blame YouTube for this. Barstuards.
  21. I'm 58 you know………...
  22. Exactly, I would rather read the thread without having to play all the youtube clips. I could then write down the titles and waste my life listening to them at a later date. A much later date. If people want to bore one another with recommendations why not set up a cd swap? How am I going to have time to moan about everything if I have to spend my time listening to all these clips? Stop it.
  23. That's what I meant. It just ruins the thread. If people just wrote their recommendations instead of posting clips it would improve the ability to make head or tail of the thread. Some of these threads take for ever to download because of the youtube content, and I just lose the will to live half way through and give up.
  24. This thread just goes to show the vast differences in taste. You say tomato, I say tomato. We will never agree. And yet whenever there's one of these threads, people can't resist putting you tube clips up. Why? the ones that are any good I am already aware of. The rest I sit and listen to, and wish I hadn't. Please can you just write the title, and resist from posting endless you tube clips. I can easily find them on you tube myself. Like I said, I have yet to play one of these clips and think wow! I must have that record.
