The Bootleg "everybody" Sells As An Original
Quinvy replied to Premium Stuff's topic in Look At Your Box
Apologies then Mick, I have never had the chance to compare them personally. I was quoting what other collectors have told me. Something about the dimples in the vinyl being very difficult to spot. To be honest I think that any boot can be recognised as such if you have an original to compare. And these days with high res scans available to view on line it's not like back in the day. -

This is a non starter unless you are prepared to wait years to trickle them out. Any more than two copies of a £1000 record suddenly coming onto the market will cause an outcry and the price to plummet. Cries of "turned up" and "dodgy" will abound. -

Give over, that's easy if you have it in your hand. It's see through. The answer is in post 22. This record has caused more arguments than any other, and the boot is still in some top collections. It isn't as easy to spot as it says in Manship's guide. -

Salvadors. -
Call me an old cynic, but give it 12 months and you will be tutting at every tune that comes on and thinking, these Dj's are s**t, I could do loads better.......I'll buy some proper records and show 'em how it should be done. 12 months later, t***ers won't give me a spot. I'll show 'em, I'll start my own night.............. Sorry mate. Enjoy yourself and don't get involved in the politics.

Quinvy replied to The Milk Man's topic in Look At Your Box
Exactly. Very formulaic and has nothing else to say. Really poor in my humble opinion. If it was a tenner would you buy it? Not this child. And this is in look at your box, not sales. -

Have no more copies turned up then Chalky? -
What, dancing on the radio? Yes that's bound to be a big hit. I could be the world dancing champion at last.

Did this not become massive then? Or is it still too rare? Bloody awesome in my humble opinion. -
I really miss the wanker smiley. I seem to be constantly looking for it for some reason.

I'm gutted! Will the smileys be coming with us?

I don't know Andy, I've never seen it. I know it has a count in as Butch once failed to cue it out. Made it sound even better. -

Don't think it's a cover up, it's an acetate that Butch has just called The Mighty Lovers. Probably un credited like the other one off acetates he plays. -
APRIL RARE SOUL AUCTION FINISHES 2.00pm FRIDAY 25th APRIL 2014 (25th Apr — Birth date of King Edward II (1284) and Oliver Cromwell (1599) Highest bidder at that point wins the disc. No extensions, no games. End of. Thanks. To view the items below go to www.raresoulvinyl.co.uk and click on Auctions.....Min Bid £ APR - A Betty Brooks There Must Be A Love Somewhere Le Cam 107 M- 300 Totally superior vocal to ‘Soul symphony’ is easily the best, and rarest, of all of them — has the popular instrumental ‘Funky Funky’ on the flipside APR - B Vickie Baines Country Girl Parkway 966 WD M- 1000 One of the biggest spins in the land back in 1978 and a 45 which has always been a rarity. Top collectable APR - C Trends Thanks For A Little Lovin ABC 10993 WD M- 300 We listed our last copy of this monster in set sale and we were inundated with calls. Seemed only fair to give all of those of you rang an even chance on this one APR - D Buddy Ace Color My Love Mind Tripper 100 VG++ 250 Very rare West Coast mover with a funky edge and soul to spare. Just the kind of thing waiting to take 2015 by storm in fact! Check out the sound bite if you don’t know it APR - E Ruby Johnson Don’t Start Nothing Neb’s 101 M- 250 A top want for many on the hard-edged, R&B- ish side of Northern Soul and Ruby’s one 45 on the label that appears to be pretty darned rare APR - F Parliaments Heart Trouble Golden World 46 WD M- 250 They don’t come much better than this one — not surprisingly given the names involved in this Northern classic. So much rarer on a white promo APR - G Don & Debbie I Can Be Happy Amos 142 D M- 300 Want to hear a piece of crossover at its very best? Well, try this one — it has all the right ingredients. A tough one too, we’ve had just two copies in 25 years APR - H Jimmy Armstrong I Won’t Believe It Til I See It Jet Set 768 WD VG++ 250 Does manic Northern get any wilder than this one? Of course this is a Shrine record in all but label APR - I Rick Hamilton (Ooo Girl) Something’s Wrong Polly 106 VG++ 850 Always thought of as a Deep Soul big hitter (the flipside ‘Deeper Than The River’) but it turns out that the reverse is great Northern. Check out the soundbite. Awesome, awesome, awesome, holy grail and all that clichéd rhetoric APR - J Sequins He’s A Flirt Renfro 113 M- 500 Super rare — reissued on a maroon label and pink without the lines across the middle. The genuine original (here) is very scarce — in fact I can’t see that it has EVER been on eBay. Great version of ‘That Boy’ (answer to Carl Henderson ‘That Girl’) on the flipside

How can the authorities value a second hand record? Any "normal" person thinks these things are worthless. It's only what's in the grooves that makes us pay stupid money for them. If the sellers put a low value on a big money record, who the hell would know except one of "us"?
-
No, don't understand any of that either.
