  1. Do people actually ask for that, or are they just attending nights that have that music policy?
  2. Kitch is one of the only Dj's on the scene that I would go out just to hear play. I didn't realise he had some new covers. Now I am very interested. Second only to Butch in my humble opinion, and some of the best nights I've ever experienced when he played at Burnley. Top man.
  3. How anyone can be into northern and yet prefer Pervis Lee to Butch's Mighty Lovers is totally beyond my comprehension.
  4. Please PM me to reserve. GLORIA TAYLOR - TOTAL DISASTER - MERCURY M- £50 Apparently it was too expensive when I first listed it. Bloody cheap now. Gloria Taylor 1.mp3 ELLIOT SMALL - STILL IN MY HEART - NEW SOUND EX £75 One of the best tunes around at the moment on the original local release, with the name misspelt as "Elloit" Elliot Small.mp3 JIMMY HUGHES - WHY NOT TONIGHT - ATCO M- £80 This is the album with the incredible "slippin' around" track on it. This album is mint and is "mono" so ideal for blasting out on a big system. Proper Northern Soul!!!!! Jimmy Hughes.mp3
  5. It's out and out R&B and very monotonous.
  6. Bloody hell I would be.
  7. It's bloody ordinary, end of.
  8. I apologise to Mik, I thought you were part of the Pow Wow promotion. I wasn't denigrating the lack of mic use, I was merely asking if there was a swing towards that these days, as I don't go out regularly now. Like I said many times before, stop taking everything as a personal attack Chalky. I was merely asking a question.

  10. I normally agree with everything you write Mik, but aren't you a bit too involved with this promotion to make an unbiased assessment? He seems a very likeable young chap, I met him briefly at Burnley the other week. He played some decent selections when I was there but didn't use the mic, is this the fashion these days?
  11. Ending very soon.
  12. Not been to this event since it moved, and not been to Bidds since it was done up, so can't comment Mik. I used to love the old Bidds venue.
  13. Touché mate.
  14. Please PM to reserve, and add £2.50p for postage. WALLACE JOHNSON - BABY GO AHEAD - SANSU W/DJ M- £75SOLD Superb dancer that doesn't turn up these days. And it's mint. And it's mint as well. Gloria Taylor 1.mp3 Gloria Taylor 2.mp3
  15. I disagree mate. I've been to do's that are touted as being fantastic, and they were terrible from my point of view. Don't forget that most people go to soul do's as their social life. They aren't bothered about anything other than they can get a good drink and their mates will be there. Also, if you aren't one of the in crowd and you don't ask everyman and his dog to do a spot, people won't attend your event no matter how good it is. Nobody dare criticise anything as it will be seen as a personal attack. How are promotions going to get better if we are willing to accept any old rubbish? Politics has killed it.
  16. https://www.ebay.com/sch/cravenmodelcentre/m.html?item=171427994680&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Ending Saturday 30th August. Don't forget I'm in the UK so there's no customs to worry about, and you will probably get your record the next day. And I provide a money back guarantee if you aren't happy with your purchase. If you live outside the UK then no problem. Will post anywhere.
  17. There aren't any good ones, that's the problem. Unprofessional in every way, the ones I've been to. Never been to the big oldies nights so maybe they are run properly. It's usually a case of lets start a night up. Find a room, buy a Dj in a box set, and beg, borrow or hire some PA. Get your mates to Dj and expect it to be rammed. Fantastic flyer, shame about the [venue, sound system, music, lack of seating, lack of lighting for record sales, unfriendly door staff etc.] add as applicable. If only there was a nighter that addressed all those issues.
  18. Trouble is Bearsy, the people who have the best records haven't got the time to do Dj spots all over the country, and aren't that interested in doing so. Conversely, the people who push themselves forward at every opportunity, and constantly promote themselves on facebook haven't got the records or the taste. I don't give a **** what anyone says. There IS a finite number of good sixties records.
  19. Hear, hear.
  20. I'd be climbing over tables trying to get out if that was playing......
  21. See post number 3
  22. My god that's ghastly.
  23. TOWANDA BARNES - YOU DON'T MEAN IT - A&M W/DJ EX £100 WALLACE JOHNSON - BABY GO AHEAD - SANSU M- £100 Please PM to reserve and add £2.50p for postage and packing.
  24. Never, never, never, use the centres that come with the Technics 1200 series turntables. They are far too big in diameter and will jam in 45's especially styrene ones. Either throw them away, or for aesthetics glue them into the recesses in the deck.
  25. I love music......anyway you choose it........
