  2. We can shoot each other mate.
  3. I am speaking for myself Mik, I'm not qualified to speak for anyone else. I'm pleased to hear that you are having a good time, and good luck to everyone who is. I am obviously a fossil and should be put out of my misery.
  4. When you find yourself singing along to most of what's being played. Au contraire. I went out for years, and was bored ****less for a lot of that time. But then again, I only went for the music. I've never been interested in all the "other things" Like I said, respect to all who want to keep it going, I'm probably just bitter that I missed the 80's when it was fresh and cool again.
  5. If certain people have decided that "the soul scene" is their preferred social life, then that's fine and dandy. It's just the same as any other club / pastime / social scene. But to try and make out that it is still a cool, underground and cutting edge music scene is just nonsense. Most of the people who throughout the years have been at the cutting edge, or who have really lived for the music, have long since realised there isn't any fresh material, and have moved on. There's nothing wrong with loving "the scene" and wanting to keep it going. But for "upfront" we should probably be using that other well used description, "underplayed / lesser known" but even this can be very contentious.
  6. Not to me they ain't.
  7. Totally agree Nev, but can think of a lot more that fit the bill more than this one. But that's personal opinion again.
  8. We can argue endlessly [come to think of it we do] on this forum. But the paragraph above says it all. Hats off to those trying to keep it going. But if I'm not constantly thinking "wow what is this" when I go out, then what's the point?
  9. When did you last see one Nev? A genuinely rare record I think.
  10. I like it too Simon. At least it's northern.
  11. Or "Real Deal" Chalky? Whatever description you use to promote an event, someone will pull it to pieces.
  12. No mate. Cliff played that.
  13. Someone has put it up on here thanks Kev.
  14. Many Thanks Very nice record, but hardly a floor packer?
  15. Mick there's no sound clip so we can't comment. No bids yet.
  16. I was very disappointed with the response to all my Arctic stuff Mark. I had a Kenny Gamble issue which is bloody rare and a Herb Johnson that I couldn't give away. My Honey and the bees was minty but had to settle for lower prices for all of them.

  18. I was off the scene when it was played Kev. So it sounds fresh to me.
  19. I noticed even back a few years when I sold up that Honey and the Bees wasn't easy to sell. Seems to be out of fashion. I like the Delrays. Bet it sounds great played out. It must be very in vogue as the price seems to keep going up.
  20. Turley Richards is the best version by far. It's the production that kills it.
  21. I tried to buy a copy last year and gave up. Have a look on popsike. https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=turley+richards&sortord=&pagenum=1&incldescr=&currsel=&thumbs=
  22. It's the solid gold big ticket records that are fetching the huge sums. I still believe that the majority are buying them to Dj with. It's the guaranteed floor fillers that everyone wants. Try selling most of the mid tempo / slow big ticket stuff and it's a real struggle. A lot of the ones that fetch big money aren't even that rare, but everyone wants to own them. Supply and demand.
  23. Thank you all for the input. Sounds like he isn't known these days? I only dealt with him through letters, but I liked the guy very much.
  24. Sorry Mick, but you can't possibly rate this Betty Swan in the same league as those two?
  25. Now that is very true, and I have had to hold my hand up on a few occasions in the past. However in my defence I have got some very decent quality speakers plugged into my computer these days, and am able to ratchet the volume up to get a better "feel" of any sound file.
