  1. Bloody brilliant post. Wish I'd said that. I'm gonna print that, and keep it. Phil.
  2. Yet another masterpiece posting Hammy.
  3. I've been after one for ages. Never had a sniff of one.
  4. Roccia understands what the scene is all about. You, on the other hand do not. And thats the tragidy.
  5. What a bloody fantastic post Hammy. My feelings exactly.
  6. --> QUOTE(Mike B @ Dec 5 2006, 08:04 PM) link First chance I've had to do an RA - Here you go - the version with the girls as requested Enjoy Mike Bolderson I think that it sounds like children singing "Nobody Knows" on the intro
  7. Could be because it ain't soul Godz.
  8. Yes but Simon where were these £20 copies. I bought one on ebay a couple of years ago and the price just went mental. Think I ended up paying £60 to win it. I know what you are saying with the Deep Dark Secret, but that's a recent play, and ain't in the same league as the Gene Chandler. You see less copies of Gene Chandler than any of the other things you mention. In my opinion Deep Dark Secret the price will drop, I think Gene Chandler will just keep creeping up. Phil.
  9. I've got to agree with Chalky on this. Some of the people who post on this site really need to get out more, and stop living in the 80's. You just can't pick up quality mint 45's at cheap prices anymore. Certain titles are always popular, and supply and demand will always determine the going rate for anything. I'm sick of people posting ridiculous statements that records aren't worth what they are fetching. Like Chalky says, unless you can actually supply a record at your estimated price, then you are talking crap. If Gene Chandler - Mr Big Shot can be purchased at £20 then I'll have your copy and, you will easily pick up another one won't you? The same thing happened a while ago on here concerning John Wesley - Love Is Such A Funny Thing - Melic. People were quoting totally unrealistic prices. In fact one wag said he would sell his copy for around £650. My mate PM'd him and said he'd have it off him, never heard from him again. Strange that. In defense of Pete Smith, he does have some records at reasonable prices, but they have normally gone before you ring up. It's the same in the sales section on here. Occasionally there are bargains to be had, but by heck you've got to be quick. So, anyone who wants to sell Gene Chandler for £20 and John Wesley for £650 I have cash waiting. Phil.
  10. I have to agree with Andy on this Ken. I actually don't drink or smoke, and I would love to go to a nighter that had no bar, and a smoking ban. Unfortunately I would probably be the only one there. On a serious note, the people who own the venues are business men/women and all they are interested in is how much money they can make. If you tried to run a nighter without a bar, my guess is that the room owner would want all the door takings. So no money for the DJ's or the promoter. And to be honest, I don't think most people would turn up. The first thing I'm asked, is usually, "what time is the bar is open till" So yes, I would support a nighter with no bar, but, the only things that matter to me are the quality of the music, and the sound system. Get those right and nothing else matters to me. Phil.
  11. Won't play on my P.C.
  12. I got a good thing going - executive 4 - lumar This has to be the most uplifting sax break ever. Guaranteed dance floor viagra[gets everybody up] wot a tune. Sounds like it was made in somebodys basement in the ghetto........ FANTASTIC

  14. The management have cancelled my allnighter on the 30th December. A new manager will be taking over the room next year. I will be meeting him for talks next week, so fingers crossed. I will post on here as soon as I know anything definate. Thanks for your support. Please pass on this message to anyone who was coming to the nighter on the 30th. Thanks. Phil. 15. When I was looking for a venue in the Burnley area a couple of years ago, somebody suggested looking at the Bankhall Miners. So I thought, fantastic idea. So I went to check it out......... Couldn't find the bloody place........ walked up and down........ the gate was locked....some football club sign on it........ Finally worked out where it should have been........ Just the shape of the foundations on the floor. That was it, gone. Flattened, God only knows when. Shame. Finished up at The Cricket Club for a while, another venue that I used to attend when in my youth, early 70's. At the moment I'm running an allnighter at the Falcon, in the Kestrel Suite, another venue that has had northern soul events through the years. If you want to relive the halcyon days of the B.H.M. you should get down tomorrow night. Many of the old faces will be in attendance, Cliff Camfield & Fred Krol will be DJ'ing, Stu Bennett, Barry Wadd, Brad, Steve Green, Andy Hutchins, Rod Shard and many more. Phil.
  16. Have PM'd you mate.
  17. Bloody strange this link, it was working fine on my pc last week. Now it's not showing final bids, again!
  18. I'm actally looking for a copy myself now [then I can get an Anthony & Delsonics for it] how much do you want for it ?
  19. Yep, I think it sounds like what I call "cowboy" music. Or "popcorn" You didn't influence my thinking at all. That's what it sounds like to me, I'm quite capable of recognizing a style of music on my own.
  20. I've just played it ???????????? just sounds like country & western to me, I can't believe anyone could call this SOUL ? Wish I had a few copies, could get some proper soul 45's in exchange. I. M.H.O.O.C.
  21. Sorry mate I never saw you're post. I reckon it's a £250 - £300 record. Tim Browns book has it at £300, but I see JM's got it at £400 in his new book. I think you would struggle to sell it for £400. I think there are an awful lot of copies around now. Great record though. Phil.
  22. Try one of these, there THE BEST. www.swanflight.com
