  1. Got to be one of the best sax breaks ever. Well 'ard 45, Tim auctioned one recently, think he said it went for £1800. So my bid of a grand was a bit out then.
  2. The Age Of Bronze 45 has been pressed twice. The yellow label, is on vinyl, Chicago, 1st press. The gold label is on styrene 2nd press, Detroit. £250-£300
  3. I personally don't think it's on making comments about peoples sales. If you're not interested, then no one is forcing you to buy. If you have a problem with the post, just PM the seller. Last time I put some sales on here I got people making snide remarks, and in my opinion, spoiling my chances of selling anything. I'll think twice before using these pages for sales again.
  4. I was trying to do some business with Mr. Bert a while ago. He told me he was selling up his collection. But his comunication was very vague and the record that I wanted had been sold. I was very wary because he was so vague, and decided I wasn't interested in dealing with him. A wise move me thinks. Especially as I saw him advertising for big ticket items in the wants section not long after. And play lists he put on here, thought he was selling up??

Anyone want to by my copy. M- ?
  6. Yep me too, played out now in my opinion. Bob Hinsley was the one playing it, and then Karl Heard made it popular. Even Butch gave it a spin at Lifeline.... John, try PM'ing Gorgeous George on here. He did have a few copies. Phil.
  7. I understand what you are saying Barry, but I have noticed that many nighters that run till 8am are nearly deserted by 5am-6am. And then there's no atmosphere, and the poor b**tard that is DJ'ing at the end of the night, has nobody to entertain.... And, trying to get the staff at a venue to stay till 8am, when most punters have gone home, and let's face it, not many will be drinking, is nigh on impossible....
  8. I used to start my nighter at 11pm Chalky, but people were arriving earlier and earlier. And I was constantly asked to start at 10pm. So I now do 10pm to 6am as I feel the 8am finnish is too much these days. And the management wouldn't wear it anyway.
  9. I've thought a lot about this subject. I used to run a rare soul night [8pm-2am] on a Saturday night. The problems were, 1. some of the people wouldn't get there till 10pm-11pm, because of the distance they were travelling. 2. If there was a nighter on the same night, most punters would shoot off half way through the evening, to go to the nighter, and 3. Sometimes if it was a busy Saturday nobody would come at all. Then I read a post on here asking the same question, soul night or nighter. And was amazed that the majority said deffo nighter.... So I now run a rare soul nighter, and have it on a Friday, Why?, you get two days to recover. I have tasted the future, and so far so good.
  10. Hello Paul, I think you may have more luck selling the c/up if you could put up a sound file mate. If you can't do it I'm sure that Joan would do it for you. Just a thought. Best regards, Phil.
  11. Best club I ever went to, I used to wear the patch with pride too.

  13. Hello Ana, Try here, great site run by a friend of mine. https://www.freewebs.com/soul45s/45sforsale.htm Best regards, Phil.
  14. That's just your opinion Pete. Certainly ain't mine. Phil.
  15. I think this is a brilliant thread, and it's really good to see a few young soulies posting on here with there opinions..... I personally think that what James is doing is to be applauded, and if he succeeds in getting more converts to soul music in whatever form, then he's doing us all a favour. I think that Steve Cato was also trying to acheive this at his S.O.N. do's in Manchester. And I tried to support him as much as I could...... I think the location for these forward thinking venues is important, and London and Manchester are maybe the only places where this kind of venue can work. Hip and fashionable, vibrant and with lot's of young people looking for a scene to belong to...... I would love to see more young people at my allnighter, BUT..... For example, one night last year, three young guys approached me while I was on the door. I explained to them what was going on, and that I didn't think they would enjoy it, and that it was a tenner in. No problem says one of the lads. It was obvious that they had been drinking quite heavily. But the spokesman says "we love northern soul" ..... So against my better judgement I let them in with my final words "we don't want any trouble" Unfortunately at that time I had to do my dj spot. But while behind the decks I could see that the lads were causing problems on the dance floor, and were being spoken to buy a mate of mine. After I had finnished my spot, I discovered that the lads had been ejected by the doorman, mainly for their own safety, as they had been getting handy with the ladies.... Needless to say I was not flavour of the month for having let them in. But isn't it a shame that so many young people don't know how to behave.... Good luck to young Mr. Trouble though, and well done for your efforts. I'm afraid for the future of our music, so don't just sit there playing mp3's. Get out and support a venue that does it for you. We are all gonna be a long time dead, so dance while you still can.
  16. Would I be correct in thinking you are living in the States Boba? I think because I was a thousand miles away, he felt confident that he would never run into me personally. Hence the attitude problem. I always give a money back guarantee on all my sales, it's the only way to do business. And I find most of the American dealers are very good and honest people. The thing is, if you are happy with your purchase, you leave glowing feedback. And Mr. red-top has plenty of it. The problems only start when you are not happy with your purchase. Then he becomes Mr. Hyde. And the leaving bad feedback idea doesn't work because they just leave it for you. And there goes your 100% rating. I still say he's not a nice guy. Phil.
  17. Bet Joe's sick of answering the phone for this. I called straight away and it was gone.
  18. I know some people are very easilly satisfied, and for some reason will accept any old rubbish, as long as it's original. But when the seller won't do refunds, he should supply an mp3 of the actual 45. He's not a nice guy, and ALL his stuff is in crappy condition. I will never buy off him again.
  19. If you are thinking of bidding for these or any other 45's off this seller, then I'd just like to give you a friendly warning... I puchased a record from RED TOP a while ago that was graded by him as vg+ However, I felt after playing the record that it was more like G, and was of no value to me as the musical experiance was ruined by all the clicking and popping. I sent the record back explaining my opinion, and asking for my money back. I recieved a load of abuse back, telling me how he was a top record dealer and that, how dare I say that his grading was incorrect. And that as far as he was concerned I either had the record back, but had to pay for the postage again, or nothing. I told him I would name and shame him on here, but he just laughed and said he didn't give a s**t what I did. So there you have it. If you are happy to pay massive amounts of money for very rough looking 45's, from a seller who is never going to refund you if you aren't happy with them, then you can't say you weren't warned. Best, Phil.
  20. Strangest thing I've ever seen. Think the designer had been sampling the beer, big style. Thanks anyway. Phil.
  21. Yes but what was it?
  22. I love mini disc. As soon as I buy a record, I put it straight onto mini disc. Play the vinyl out, and play the mini discs at home. The process of recording vinyl onto mini disc also "cleans up" some of the background noise associated with vinyl. And you can do anything with mini disc, move tracks about, delete tracks, add tracks. As good as cd but a fraction of the size, and more or less bomb proof. Should have been far more popular than it has been. Brilliant!
  23. What the hell is that thing in the Va Va's Patch????
  24. Yep! sold mine tother week for £400. I think Headsy [Jeff Heads] had one for sale a while back, it may well have gone by now but he's on here so PM him Pete. Phil.
