  1. That's brilliant, thanks Paul. Phil.
  2. I was of the same opinion Chalky, but I have recently had some very over graded records. Especially when played.
  3. The problem with grading records, using the above standards is, they are all about play wear. Where as most of the records that come up on ebay etc. have had very little play, but have been stored without sleeves. ie. lots of scratches scuffs and ring wear. As these records get older I think we need to change the way we grade vinyl. I would sugest a two tier system, 1. The visual condition [as used now] 2. The how does it play? condition. [just as important, if not more so] I'm not a stamp collector, and it's what's in the groove that counts for me. I think a lot of the U.S. sellers think we just want to own these 45's and that we couldn't care that they are unplayable.
  4. Bloody hell Rod, Wish I had some money. I'm sure Fred would be very interested in the Tranells. He was second highest bidder on the ebay one. Give him a bell mate. Phil.
  5. A cliche I know, but what's the alternative? Totally ignore your guests? Push them down the stairs and say "what the hell are you doing here"?.......... It's just like the thread on here about DJ'ing cliche's like, "last one from me before I hand you over to whoever" or "you've got me for the next hour" and "thanks to whoever for the last hour" ........ What else can you say? There isn't an alternative, and if you are promoting, you should be greatful that people are making the effort to travel to your event. There's plenty of hand shaking and cheek kissing going on when they get inside the venue, it's the way you greet your friends, and people you like, that's all. Phil.
  6. You've hit the nail on the head there..........the music is fantastic, but you have to experiance it at a nighter to get it. Some tunes just don't sound the same played at home.......... It's like watching a great comedy on your own...........then watching it with like minded friends, you feed off each others laughter.........deep but true.
  7. No problems at all mate, no.
  8. I must say that I've tried the ally ones, but to me the plastic cone ones are the best money can buy. Give the lads at Beatin Rhythm in Manchester a ring, and they'll even post them to you. The ones they sell are perfect, and I'm a fussy bastard. 0161 834 7783
  9. I'm totally with you Ted.
  10. It's a funny thing this scene of ours. Since I've been promoting, I've spoken to a lot of people at venues all over the country. And I have been amazed at how many have never heard Butch DJ, and even more amazed, at how many don't rate him. And yet, by the sound of it, most of us on this forum regard him as simply the best......I think this shows just how fragmented the scene is now......... And if I'm brutally honest, since I've been travelling to hear Butch dj, he hasn't really changed his set that much........ So, has he still got more things waiting to unleash on us, or is even he, finding it hard these days?
  11. He probably can't remember where he hid it.
  12. Brilliant post, well put sir.......On topic, I am worried about what will happen at my allnighter when the ban comes in. The location is right in the busy town centre, surrounded by divvie clubs, spewing out pissed up divvies, who are going to come accross my guests having a smoke outside.........not a good situation me thinks.
  13. I MUST HAVE IT, I MUST HAVE IT!
  14. Never heard of it Tommy. Is it any good?
  15. I can see you looking Paul. Me first please.
  16. So which one has the best sound quality then Ady?
  17. Ah hah! I've sussed you out. That's very sneaky of you hiding behind that persona!
  18. Really? do I know you?
  19. Would like to hear the Insights please. philsoul45@btinternet.com
  20. Just looking at "ANOTHER" copy of Al Williams on a very nice Palmer W/DJ on ebay. I was always told that this was a rare piece. But despite the plentyfull amount for sale recently, it still seems to fetch a king's ransome. This must surely be down to demand, and not rarity. I suspect a 25 box of Palmer white demos has been found. Connor Cagle sounds fantastic. Who has it?
  21. You cleared the floor with Mac Staten??????? What did you do, play it at the wrong speed? Where was the gig, a home for the deaf?? When you tire of Mac Staten, you tire of life itself.
