A cliche I know, but what's the alternative? Totally ignore your guests? Push them down the stairs and say "what the hell are you doing here"?.......... It's just like the thread on here about DJ'ing cliche's like, "last one from me before I hand you over to whoever" or "you've got me for the next hour" and "thanks to whoever for the last hour" ........ What else can you say? There isn't an alternative, and if you are promoting, you should be greatful that people are making the effort to travel to your event. There's plenty of hand shaking and cheek kissing going on when they get inside the venue, it's the way you greet your friends, and people you like, that's all.
