  1. No mate, you have terrible taste....................I hate all three.
  2. The vultures will be PM'ing you as we speak mate. All looking to get your rare bits cheap.
  3. What's the sound quality like on the repro? I've bought stuff like this before to record for home listening and they have been terrible.
  4. But the reason that people are sitting outside and talking is that they have heard it all before. Bloody hell, I was off the scene for twenty years but it didn't take me long to get bored of the same old people playing the same old records when I started going out again. Some people have been active on the scene non stop since the seventies. How the hell they keep motivated is beyond me. I don't like the funk, but I understand why lots do. It's something new and fresh, and no matter how good the records you play are, if folk have heard them many times before they aren't gonna jump up and dance. Good luck with the new venture, but don't call it Lifeline, new name, new beginning.
  5. I agree entirely with Chalky that funk has taken over, Burnley has gone the same way. I don't agree that there are enough 60's northern newies to continue, but that's just my opinion. I only know this, if I wanted to start again, I would end up buying most of the same records that we played during the four and a half years of Burnley. And I'm not sure on dates, but that must be going on for ten years ago now. Many of those records I still see on play play lists at so called up front venues. So there's not too many quality new discoveries come to light in ten years has there? I don't know why people get so obsessed by anniversaries and the longevity of certain allnighter's. Change is inevitable and good. You can't bring back the past no matter how good it was. It should always be about passion, so start something new if you think it's possible. Have a break then start afresh.
  6. Everything has a shelf life, and everything must end. That's life. Otherwise you end up like the Derby and Joan scene you despise so much.
  7. Started to watch it, then lost the will to live and turned over.
  8. I must admit that when I read the "description" I thought I was in a parallel universe. Maybe it has suddenly become a wanted item? It has happened many times before, in that a record you see about for years and thought was plentiful, suddenly becomes in vogue and disappears because it's actually quite rare. Or. Will loads of copies suddenly appear as people try to "cash in" on the latest hot item?
  9. Pretty good, and let's face it she's not hard to look at is she?
  10. Agree with Jimmy, seems to be quite a few rare vinyl collectors of all genres. Nothing to do with the "Scene" as we know it. Just like collectors of rare art or porcelain etc.
  11. Thats fine Russ if you are lucky enough to have the financial stability to enable this utopia. I would love to still have my records, but every bit of money I had was in them. So when I lost my job they had to go.
  12. Like I said earlier, thay have been saying the bottom will fall out of the market since the 80's. Yet it just keeps going up.
  13. Whoever e***e is, he/she must have some money. They seem to bid on nearly every big rarity that comes up on eBay, and they win a fair amount of them too. There's some nice stuff going through, must be nice to be able to afford them.
  14. what did it go for Rod?
  15. There's definitely some politics involved as well. I've been to places that were always rammed, yet to me offered very little. There seems to be a bit of "everyone is going there, so we'll go with our mates". It's a social do for many people I think. The things that matter to me don't seem to matter to most people, that's why I was interested in others thoughts. The things that make a great nighter for me are: 1. Well set up sound system. (It doesn't matter how good the music if you can't hear it) 2. Dj's with taste. 3. Atmospheric venue. 4. Decent size dance floor. Simple as that.
  16. The vultures are circling.
  17. Looks proper mate. I seem to remember that the bootlegs have a small hiss just as the music kicks in?
  18. That version does sound like Joe Simon.
  19. Social media is anathema to me, but I have had to get on it in order to promote my business. However, and please shoot me down if I'm wrong, but you can only "reach" the people who are your "friends" or "followers" can't you? You can't just stick an add on Facebook and expect thousands of people to see it. I constantly get messages telling me to "promote my business" but when you click on the button you are invited to pay up for the privilege.
  20. You've got it Len. I once went to an event that had literally thousands of views and many hundreds of posts, and there was no bigger there. I hear that certain events are packed, but I never really see any of them advertised so I just wondered how the hell the promoter gets them there?
  21. I have noticed that things have changed big style since I was promoting. So how do promoters well, promote their events these days? The events forum on here used to be full of, well if I'm honest, bullshit from promoters and their loyal supporters. This seems to have all but disappeared now. So how do people find out about events, is it Facebook, Twitter etc? or is it simply heavy flyer bombing of other events? It's a genuine question and not meant to cause any grief.
