  3. I got a copy off ebay last year, but it was in bad shape. That's the copy that Sam now has. I had a EX+ copy when I sold up in January, this went to a private collector for £2.4k. It's one of 3 titles that I wish I'd kept hold of. Phil. Phil, you told me you couldn't stand the record!! And here you are saying it is one of the 3 records you wished you'd kept. I give up I think you must have miss heard me there, or got me mixed up with somebody else Joan. Loved it since the first time I heard it played. Absolute class.....hence me buying it twice....

  5. Just make sure it's an issue Neil, otherwise you'll get Ruby Tuesday on both sides......nice.....where's the emoticons gone?????? some seller on ebay had the promo up as a featured auction all hyped up and I emailed them saying that it was worthless as a promo and they were all friendly about it like "oops" (apparently the osborne guide actually has the promo listed for money) and they STILL ended up getting like $150!!! I think there are a lot of confused people buying on ebay. I know Bob, because a mate of mine thought he'd secured a real bargain. "They've listed the wrong side"he says... he wasn't laughing when the demo came in the post. goooodbye ruby tuesday

  8. I think the reason that people on here get so pissed off is, that another opportunity has just been wasted. I think we would all love to see a movie that captures the pure spine tingling emotion of this music, and the allnighter experience. In my humble opinion, the best music based movie ever was The Commitments. Based on a novel by Rody Doyle, Directed by Alan Parker. But most important [in my opinion] the screen play was written by the best in the business, Dick Clement & Ian Le Franais & Roddy Doyle himself. But no big name actors and no bloody pop stars had anything to do with it. So, all we need is for someone to write a brilliant novel about the scene......
  9. Sound files added to all tracks.

  17. I think you should find the answers to these questions before you start buying. Otherwise you will find that quite a number of people will be reaching for the mint sauce! You should first buy Mr Manship's latest guide and look at how to tell what has been bootlegged and what hasn't. Remember to subtract at least 30% from his guide prices so you know roughly what to pay. If you are planning to DJ then the list you put up isn't much cop as everyone has them; has heard them and doesn't want to really hear them all again (at least not all at the same time). Most people collect records and then decide they want to DJ or get asked. If you want to buy records just to be a DJ you will need a big house and no mortgage as you'll need to sell it to fund the record buying spree required to fill a decent 200 box for a set. Planning to DJ is a bit of a joke phrase really because unless you are really good you won't get any sets. The only other way is to have hideously rare or exclusive records and then you can get booked at the chinstokers dos (back to selling the house here). Or start your own night if you can find a venue. To be honest there are more more DJ's than dancers these days anyway. Dundee Davie's advice was best - don't do it. Alternatively, if you are under 25, just buy CD's, bootlegs and compilation albums and play them to your mates to get them interested in the music. Start your own night in a decent venue and have a strict "nobody over 30" policy on the door. You'll have much more fun, you won't have anyone clouding your vision with 40 years of NS politics and bullsh*t and the music might transfer to a new generation. Brilliant post......many a true word......
  18. Krol,I think ........Andy Killick mate.....
  19. still looking not a cheap sound by any means kev What's it like Kev, uptempo 60's?
  20. Problem with most rigs is they are not powerful enough for most venues. Djs come on & put the volume control to max regardless of what is coming out of the speakers. If they were to look at the desk every once in a while they might see some nice flashing ligts - green - amber & red - treat them as you would traffic lights & that is how the equipment should be run. If you try to "bounce" sound off a wall 30 yards away & your rig isn't big enough all you are doing is amplifying distortion - which equals very poor (but loud!!) sound quality which also equals damage to ears & you can't nip down to your local hi-fi shop to get them repaired. Brilliant post.......DJ's should be told not to touch anything. One person should be in charge of the sound, but they need to know what they are doing, and have some common sense.......the sound system is the most important part of an event.....it's not taken seriously enough, and I've been called a miserable **** when I have complained at certain nights.......But I won't put up with it any more, and either don't go back or take some ear plugs......people think nothing of paying thousands for records, but won't spend anything on decent PA. Most speakers that I see are set too low down, usually at head height, right in your lugholes..... If you get home from a do, and your ears are ringing. Then the PA has been set up wrong, or you've been standing with your head in a speaker. Either way it's bloody dangerous....
  21. Anyone tell me what this is like, or even better could email me a soundfile please? MAXINE WOMACK - ONE STEP AT A TIME/WHAT'CHA GONNA DO - TACK Thanks for looking. Phil. email philsoul45@btinternet.com
  22. Gambrells is where??????????
  23. Are they all styrene?
  24. Buy a copy of John Manships bootleg guide, it's invaluable. In fact I'm very disappointed that he hasn't bothered to update it. Instead of trying to combine it with the price guide, which doesn't work in my humble opinion.
