  1. I think that it's a crying shame that tracks like this are so badly managed. I remember this one being played years ago on Richard Searlings radio show when it was on a Sunday afternoon. I recorded the program, and I have been raving about this, [and a couple of others that were played on the same show] ever since. If one or maybe two DJ's could have had cuts of this for 12 months or so, I think it would have gone massive. I did actually PM you Ady, a long time ago about this very track, but I never got a reply. Very strange that you started to play it at the 100 not long after. Problem is, once it is out there on CD the kudos is lost. Phil.
  2. Can't resist askin ya Phil, how did you know you had heard it? When the CD had finished playing, I looked at the track listing and thought, blimey I didn't even notice that Wade Flemons track. So I played it again, then put the CD in the cupboard for a couple of years. True.
  3. F*king ludicrous!.. A weak record that's dead common (bet the prats who are bidding on this don't even know 'Two of a Kind' - now THERE'S a proper record!) Dave I must agree that the price paid was very nice for the seller. But I must disagree most strongly with your comments regarding musical quality. Jeanette, fookin awesome record, that has suffered from being hammered into submission by overplaying. That's the reason it's been overplayed. It's bloody fabulous, and it makes you want to dance. On the other hand, you could play "Two of a kind" till the cows come home, and not get a reaction. If it was a rare record, Jeanette would be worth thousands. The first time I heard Jeanette, I had to have it. The first time I heard Two of a kind, I didn't even notice. True. Phil.
  4. Here we go, PM to reserve please..... Ty Karim.mp3 Ty Karim b.mp3 Massive in demand west coast double sider, just click on the sound files and see why this lady is so highly rated. Beautiful M- copy £1k Big Jay Bush.mp3 Fabulous and very obscure R&B style dancer, that's got the lot, inc. brilliant sax break. M- £150 Jimmy Robbins.mp3 Wow! how nice is this? Original of this iconic record in M- condition, and sounds so much better than the Jerhart release. £150 Shirley Combs.mp3 Really nice funky dancer that sounds just right for today. Very obscure. The record is in mint condition apart from the strange label damage that looks as though it was done during manufacture. £100 Ty Karim.mp3 Ty Karim b.mp3 Big Jay Bush.mp3 Jimmy Robbins.mp3 Shirley Combs.mp3
  5. I may be barking up the wrong tree, Is this a release? I'ts nothing like the demo I've got! please forgive me if this has been covered before.. B Unreleased version, and quite brilliant in my opinion. Except for the backing vocalist clearing his throat during the intro, which is probably why it wasn't released. I've played it out a few times, much better than the released version to me.

    A Few Wants

All others acquired apart from: Eddie Daye - Lean on me - Dayco 4564 Gladys Knight - If you ever - Soul S-20662 The Gladys Knight is unissued, but is readily available on a poor looking boot with another great unissued track on the flip. Try Ian Clark, or Richard Domar, they both did have copies. Phil.
  7. Where did my post go? did I break a rule or summat????? mods?????
  8. Slight drift from the thread, Has Edwin's version of I can't escape your memory been played anywhere? I think this would have been huge at Station Road, and should be huge now. Sorry I can't put a clip up. It is on the Involved LP. Sorry Brian, but in my humble opinion, not in the same league as the Four Tops version mate. Phil.
  9. Great record mate. Snap it up someone. Tommy Dodson III -
  10. Any chance of someone posting a sound file for the benefit of us un-initiated, please ???? Anything I've heard from this group - even their doowoppy early ditties - has appealed to me. After a discussion about said 45 with A.N.Other at Burnley's Kestrel Suite 'Niter, on Saturday, I'm intrigued to hear this outing. People that DO know of it / have it speak ONLY very highly of it.. Just to make me feel, even MORE, that I'm MISSING OUT !! & not privvy to an invite to this 'party'.. Fingers.. Stuart played it on Saturday night at Burnley John. Must have been before you got there.
  11. Got a marvellous hampton but not parting with it at the moment. Hope that's helpful Got a little un' that I no longer use if that's any help Neil.......
  12. Tommy & the Derby's.MP3 Offers being taken for this fantastic and very rare record..... TOMMY & THE DERBYS - DON'T PLAY THE ROLE - SWING Record is VG+ with a couple of pops at the begining of the track. Soundfile and label scan to follow. Serious offers only please. I would be open to possible trades but only for 45's of similar value. Thanks, PM me please.
  13. I thought the GM release was the original? I never heard the one with the shouting played until recently, and don't like that at all. Is that the U.S. Ember release? Anyway, heard it too much in the 70's to want to play it now personally. p.s. I seem to recall the GM 45 being very quiet.
  14. The Tony Mathews is now sold....thanks First £120 for the Willie Parker gets a bargain.
  15. I second that Malc, When I finaly got a recording of this years ago, it sounded so muffled I thought it must be the tape ..... But the vinyl sound is just the same ! I Haven't forgotten what I promised ya by the way .... In the next week or so mate No offence mate, but I think your signature is a bit o.t.t. isn't it?
  16. Cheers guys, hope to see you all on Saturday.....
  17. Lot's of interest, but nobody seems to be able to come up with the money. Like I said in the post, the Convoy 45 has a small edge warp. The last minty one I heard about went for a grand....
  18. That's a bloody awful version Ken. This is far superior in my humble etc. Larry Houston lets Spend Some Time Long version hmpf -
  19. Last copy I saw for sale was £350 mate.
  20. The last few that I've seen for sale have gone from £1000 to £1200.....
  21. TONY MATHEWS - MY WISH - CONVOY The record has some kind of a heat mark on the flip side which has caused a small edge warp, but the MY WISH side plays perfect, as you can here on the soundfile. Massive record at the moment and very in demand.....half price, SOLD Number of downloads: 78 WILLIE PARKER - I'VE GOT TO FIGHT IT - M-PAC Very hard to find thses days, one of Guy's cover up's from Stafford. Getting plays again, proper gritty uptempo from one of THE great soul voices. Vinyl is lovely EX condition, but has a label tear but nothing serious. £150 NOW REDUCED TO £120
  22. Nope, John Richbourg picked up Ann Sexton for SS7 directly after the Impel issue of Gone Too Long (which by the way I still have...thanks Tes), so she only had one release on Impel. I've never seen any other label for I Still Love You than the multi-coloured one, though for years I was convinced that they were 2nd issues, so bought a WD to be certain... ....and yep, they're both great sides. Yes, thinking about it, I've never seen a yellow issue of I still love you....
  23. Do you mean a yellow issue or that multi colour thing?? that i assumed is a re-issue?? Just £20 for a yellow issue is damn cheap imho That said theres always one on ebay EVERY WEEK! Think you may be confusing this one with "you've been gone too long"? "I still love you" never seems to show up, and much rarer than people think. I can't recall seeing a yellow issue, or a white demo, for a very long time.
  24. Mike, I really need an "over my head" smiley.......... A confused expression, with a load of bollocks going over it's head......p-l-e-a-s-e-!
