My project in Madia Vale is just lose ends now so after a short visit this morning I walk the short distance to Lord's the home of cricket to watch the last day of the County Championship match between Middlesex and Warwickshire... The Warner stand has been pulled down over the winter and the replacement is in the early stages of construction..... I sat in the Tavern Stand and took this picture....the fielder is Jonathan Trott.

I have on offer the very rare withdrawn issue of The Miracles hit "Shop "Around" . In stunning condition !
Matrix H-55518-A2.
Very hard to find in any condition but this is a beauty, near mint.
Some background info below.....
"From the Soulful Detroit Archives, July, 2004, Ron Murphy wrote:
"Here's the deal on 'Shop Around'...there are 3 recorded versions of 'Shop Around'.
At the original session they recorded 2 versions 55518-A1 and 55518-A2. Gordy decided to press the A-2 version first but right after the records came back he changed his mind and decided to switch to the A-1 version, now since it took a couple weeks to print new labels they just pressed the A-1 using the labels printed with the 55518-A2 master number on them, labels were ordered for the A-1 version but these were only used for promos.
After having both versions pressed up and getting feedback from some DJ's, he knew he had a hit if he could re-record it with a different arrangment, so he called everyone back in for a 2nd session and they recorded the 'HIT' version numbered L-1....once the record took off Gordy decided to press some copies at Columbia's LA plant and that's where the ZTSC copies come from, now on some of those the name Gordy in the writers credits was mis-spelled as Gordt.
On re-issues there were mistakes made of using the original stamper of the A-2 version because new employees at the pressing plant were only matching the stamper to the labels not knowing it was wrong, also in Canada the only version that was ever issued during the original release date was the A-1 version.
When Gordy got the L-1 back from the plant he drove all around Detroit trying to trade the 'HIT' version copies for the 2 earlier versions."Best bid in excess of £100 to finish Monday night at 8pm. I will include Special Delivery cost to a UK address. Overseas please contact me to agree additional charge. PayPal F&F or BACS payment.

The recording was not the problem. It came out on the Kent compilation 'floor shakers' and it sounds just perfect from the tapes (recording). It's a master-plate pressing issue with the USA 45. My quest was to understand if some original USA 45's didn't suffer the same fate as it's sometimes the case when another pressing plant is doing it's own masters...
Well that would explain why Ady had a good one if he had gained access to the master tape and then had a carver done to DJ with.....

I recall a thread about this maybe 10 years ago as my MCA reissue was poor quality and if I remember correctly the only thread contributer who claimed to have a sweet sounding version was Ady Croasdell.

Stay in and keep warm. Seriously.
Oh my goodness.....that is so sad! I recall her being very weak on Jools New Year show a few years back but that YouTube clip is even worse. I think I will save my money and go and see Gregory Porter on Saturday night.
