When you get cheesed off with the backstabbing, I think I know it all, back slapping, internet gahoonies, promoter bumping, event bombing, name dropping, pepsi swigging, moments on Soul Source....where do you spend your internet time?
I spoke to Stuart about the acetate at the last SITC Solid Hit Soul ......he confirmed that it was now a bit worse for wear..... I always though ST got it off Dave Flynn...didn't know it was a PS sale.
As you will recall Dave, I made some reference to this point in my comments about the "Spirit Of" room at the Stafford reunion. Breaking new records must be a thankless task at times......taking time, money and research to find something new and then "losing the room" when you give them an airing.
I suspect this is easier if you are chucking out uptempo 60s style OKish tunes which people find it easy to dance to....but Dave you do not follow that line at all IMO...much of what I heard at Stafford was not conventional at all. Keep trying please.
I'm glad I'm not only one making this point Martyn.....as i have said i don't mind paying a premium price from JM as I TRUST him to sell me a legit first issue in tiptop condition. If i think he or CM or anyone else is willing to be economical with the truth then I'll stick to CDs.
I work in the legal profession so i would like to think i have a balanced opinion. John Manship posted on this subject today ...... so just when did he stop posting?
And why you're first post?....Big and small dealers must be honest unless....?
Really? here is his context.........
"Craig Moerer is the most honest of record dealers and would never knowingly mislead. He employs 3 times the staff i do and many of these are employed in solely processing records, and to my knowledge none of them are Northern Soul experts.
People who buy second issues for large sums only have themselves to blame, the info is out there to differentiate between bootlegs, re-issues and orginals to avoid mistakes like this. Equally the info is there for Craig and his staff also."
Just a secondhand car dealer IMO
I can see what you are saying Mark, but there is no way CM did not know that the Can't Be Still was a second issue...even I knew.....Why did JM come to his defence?
This is what John Manship says "People who buy second issues for large sums only have themselves to blame"...this was about a Buster & Eddie Cant Be Still on Class second issue placed on Ebay by Craig Moerer.
Why do you want to defend CM...Mark, i know you know your subject but this dealer needs to be honest or be outed.... i was amazed that John Manship tried to defend him. When i want a record I know i pay over the odds when i buy off JM but I hope it is a first issue unless he says so. i have lots of friends who give me the correct info but for JM to protect CM when he is trying it on is a no no IMO.
Check the timing of my post in reply to Kev Kents post and then look at the time of yours and you will see that I made my edit well before your post!
And just as an aside you can't have a basement "Packed to the rafters".....now bug off to Gloucester.
