  1. How can you tell from that scan Paul? Was it booted as a WD?
  2. From an advert in Black Music, April 1974: New imports from... INVITATIONS NOLAN CHANCE MEL WILLIAMS PATTI YOUNG JERRY WILLIAMS OLLIE JACKSON STEINWAYS BEN AIKEN FRANKIE & THE CLASSICALS VEL VETS ROZETTA JOHNSON SHARON SOUL So I was wrong about Frankie & Classicals. Don't ever remember seeing the Steinways.
  3. Think they may be heading off to Manchester...
  4. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/60S-SOUL-COLLECTION-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. OK well just going from memory, I don't think any of the above came out on OOTP though obviously I am probably wrong on a couple. One to add is Tony Clarke - Landslide
  6. Loads of these didn't come out on OOTP Mel, I'll try and do an edit to your list later
  7. I'll second that
  8. It's already up on the site somewhere. Must be a single.
  9. Changed a few prices and removed all sold items
  10. That boot was done by 2 people from Wolverhampton who are still on the scene. They were originally sold through Ruby Red records. Ruby Red closed down about 3 years ago and the owner found about 200 copies in the basement, so you can guarantee that they will appear very regularly on ebay. Sound quality is a bit quiet. (The same people also did Jeanette Williams - All Of A Sudden)
  11. I sent out 5 lots of cd's on tuesday (free, not for swaps) and only 2 people bothered to even say thanks so I don't think I'll bother in future.
  12. Bet it appeals to the people who liked Amy Winehouse's retro-type version of soul though. Nothing wrong with this cover, except Etta's voice is incomparable
  13. PETE SMITH 28 JENKS ROAD WOMBOURNE WOLVERHAMPTON WV65 0BL 01902 893569 Pete.smith@freeuk.com NORTHERN SOUL ORIGINALS **************************** JOANIE SOMMERS - DON'T PITY ME - WARNER BROS DEMO M- 350 Probably the best copy I've seen - vinyl demo, faultless HOWARD TATE - YOU'RE LOOKING GOOD - UTOPIA EX 300 Very seldom seen stormer SAM FLETCHER - I'D THINK IT OVER - TOLLIE EX 275 Lovely yellow issue, one or two very light marks not affecting play, spotless labels DORIS TROY - FACE UP TO THE TRUTH - CAPITOL DEMO M 125 This is a bargain price for an outstanding record THE LOLLIPOPS - LOVE IS THE ONLY ANSWER - RCA ISSUE EX- 30 JOE PHILLIPS - WITHOUT YOU - OMEN M 25 Little known midtempo - nice and soulful THE PERSIONETTES - CALL ON ME / IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY - OR DEMO M 40 Beatuiful white demo, two great sides THE DELCOS - ARABIA - SHOWCASE EX 40 This is seriously rare - the West Coast vinyl press with sea green label, and in nice nick too MALCOLM HAYES - BABY PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME / I CAN'T MAKE IT WITHOUT YOU - OKEH DEMO M- 75 "Baby" is the best side but both are superb EDDIE HOLLAND - IF CLEOPATRA TOOK A CHANCE - MOTOWN with beautiful pic sleeve No idea what this is worth - the record is and sleeve are both in excellent condition, bit of ring wear on the sleeve EX 50 THE POPPIES - THERE'S A PAIN IN MY HEART - EPIC DEMO EX 40 Nice demo but someone has marker-penned out the part that says "demonstration record not for sale" LITTLE MILTON - SOMETIMEY - CHECKER EX+ 15 THE CHARTS - DESIREE / FELL IN LOVE WITH YOU BABY - WAND EX 15 CHARLES PERRY - HOW CAN I - MAGNUM EX 15 LITTLE ESTHER PHILLIPS - WHILE IT LASTED - LENOX EX 15 JIMMY RUFFIN - AS LONG AS THERE IS LOVE / HOW CAN I SAY I'M SORRY - SOUL EX 15 Two great lesser played Motown sides here JIMMY HUGHES - MY LOVING TIME - GUYDEN EX 20 Classic popcorn dancer LEN BARRY - 1-2-3 - UK BRUNSWICK DEMO M 30 Alright so 1-2-3 was a monster hit but the UK demo is ultra-rare LOU JOHNSON - UNSATISFIED - LONDON VG++ 50 Bringing the condition of this down from EX to VG++ as I can see a mark near the start - plays flawlessly THESE NEXT FEW ARE NOT MY USUAL EX TO MINT: THE PRICE REFLECTS THE CONDITION BUT I AM HAPPY TO SEND AN MP3 OR PLAY ANYTHING YOU WANT TO HEAR SOUL BROTHERS SIX - I'LL BE LOVING YOU - ATLANTIC VG 10 Very crackly at the start, improves as it goes along JOHNNY NASH - YOU NEVER KNOW - MGM DEMO VG+ 20 One of his best, really underrated too...a little bit crackly at start, I might be being a bit fussy here DARRELL BANKS - THE LOVE OF MY WOMAN - COTILLION DEMO VG 20 Just some crackle in the background on this one DEE CLARK - IN THESE VERY TENDER MOMENTS - COLUMBIA DEMO VG 10 Again, crackle especially near the start, the louder the music, the less the crackle ROY HAMILTON - EARTHQUAKE - EPIC DEMO VG+ 40 Again, minor background crackle for the first minute, lessens as the record progresses then it has the odd pop. No problems for djing. In fact the only thing really wrong with this one is that the actual record is rubbish... THE ENJOYABLES - PUSH A LITTLE HARDER - CAPITOL VG+ 45 Bit of background crackle on the intro otherwise no problems BRUCE SCOTT - YOU CAN'T LOSE SOMETHING YOU NEVER HAD - MGM DJ VG++ 20 This might be unfamiliar to many but a demo version of this appeared on a 100 club anniversary single credited to Chubby Checker (when it was actually Jimmy Radcliffe). Here's the version that bgot released and it's a tremendous beat ballad. Crackles at the start though. 14. One of those records that you don't hear for ages, then you listen to it - and it sounds bloody fantastic...then you forget about it again for years
  15. Cheers Mark, looks exactly the same actually. Note on the sleevenotes, they call her Gloria "Towanda" Barnes..
  16. Cindy Gibson?
  17. Yeah this guy has the best album collection I've heard of let alone seen - he seems to have got everything and he's having to start letting them go now, so if there are any serious album collectors with dosh who fancy a trip to the midlands, do let me know

  20. What a record this is...and I don't think I've heard it played out since the 70's
  21. OK Kevin, I'll stop going on about it. Presumably the nice bits are the run on and run off grooves. Oops I did it again.
  22. Sorry, I had that wav on my pc for about 6 months and knew it would come in useful one day, I go back to school on monday
  23. Are you serious, honestly, the track you posted up is possibly the worst track ever heard on this forum and you call me tone deaf? Come back George Lemons, all is forgiven
  24. I found part 2 of your lovely song, same vocalist I think
