There's a third version of A Touch Of Velvet by Sounds Orchestral on Pye or Piccadilly.
I'm with you all in remembering it from the radio (I thought it was Radio Luxemburg!) but it was never a Wigan 'top' sound in the true sense of the word, it was played by Dave Evison in his oldies spot and got reactivated because of that and even bootlegged.
p.s. I have packed in both drinking and smoking (14 days now) but I still would fight for a persons right to smoke in a pub or club situation. Blimey, remember the days when you could smoke in the cinema and on the top deck of the bus?
p.p.s. seeing as how I have not touched any alcohol for 14 days, how come I've still got f*cking gout?
I think this winter will see so many pubs and clubs close down that the government will soon have to rethink it's policy. What on earth is wrong with smoking and no smoking pubs?
Yeah I'll dig them out Mike. I was contacted by the main camerman from this show after I put some clips on youtube and he couldn't believe it existed as he knew the tv station had wiped the lot - he read the eulogy at the presenters funeral a while back, wish I'd kep his emails, fascinating stuff about the show
What about the legal side though, if I was to come on here and say "for sale, memory stick with 5000 northern tracks on" I think I'd get short-shrift.
p.s. for sale - memory stick with 5,000 northern tracks on
Two different sort of tracks really - I think they are both great myself. Kev Roberts told me he once left several hundred copies of this in some basement in the States
You may rate them at the same prices as US releases but in my experience they well sell for between a third and half as much...don't know why. I remember buying Sam's Candian Epic copy of Major Harris off him in 1979 for £22, that was a weeks rent then...
