  2. The reason I asked for paypal payments is because I didn't want to have to put this through my business, and it made it easier to simply transfer money into Karen's paypal account from which she could withdraw it, if she ever worked out how to do it also I didn't want to take it on credit/debit cards because the company doesn't like me taking transactions under £10. With paypal all you have to do is go to www.paypal.com and click 'send money' and they walk you through it, doesn't cost you anything as far as I know, but if anyone wants to pay by cheque they can always mail them directly to Karen and she can let me know where to send the discs.
  3. I did - in fact I doubt there was a bigger critic of the film than me and it landed me in hot water with several people, they even launched a website just to slag me off for daring to criticise it...ah those were the days...but if you go back to the film it gets better and better. For a start - the interview footage and history of the scene is second to none and the best thats been done. The special effects were done for a reason - to cover up the background of where the singer was peforming (many were done in the artists own homes). I know that Ian is going through all of the clips one by one and since the technology has evolved, he's removing the special effects. Have a look at jackie Ross - Keep Your Chin Up on youtube and you'll see how it's now filmed in subtle tints rather than swirly Doctor Who type effects. What I had a problem with was the recreation of the actual tracks, which is probably why you refer to it as karaoke, a lot of the basic 60's music doesn't translate into the multi-track 90's, but of course they couldn't get the copyright to use the original recordings and the artists would have had to mime anyway. I do know where you're coming from but I think if you dip into it again you'll enjoy it more this time.
  4. if anyone's interested but I have reopened my Ebay shop and have started to chuck everything in there, done about 100 today, will do another 100 tomorrow and so on. Mostly really cheap stuff at the moment, more expensive stuff to be added. 99% of it is buy it now. cheers pete https://stores.ebay.co.uk/PETE-SMITHS-PLANE...9QQftidZ2QQtZkm
  5. You can say what you like about Ian Levine and his music/film but if he hadn't had the foresight to film all of these people there would be no record of them whatsoever - look at all the artists who've passed away since the release of the film - Ray Pollard, Freddy Butler, Emanuel Laskey, The Carstairs, Jackie Day, Bobby Sheen, the list sadly goes on and on ">
  6. Well at least he knew of the affection soul fans had for him - just look how happy he is on Ian levine's film SWONS, you can tell he's overwhelmed by the fact everyone knows him and his music. RIP
  7. reduced to enable me to buy the worlds largest turkey LINDA LLOYD - BREAKWAY - COLUMBIA DEMO MINT 175 pete.smith@freeuk.com 01902 893569
  8. Whats all that about? It was on my £5 list on here last week!
  9. He's also got a Larry Clinton on Grapevine for the same price so he obviously knows f*ck all about records. I'd sell you 3 Bobby taylors for 60 quid
  10. What or who is CIS?
  11. Yeah its in the middle of the charity thread. Did you know I Can't let Go is on youtube as well, fantastic stuff
  12. Oops I just said exactly the same thing without reading replies first, sorry
  13. People don't like making offers, simple as that. Why not stick a price on them?
  14. Twice in 3 days for this one
  15. This is on my pussy cats charity dvd
  16. Outlets are usually bigger travel agents.
  17. That was me right? The thing is, I am sick of people charging say 1.50 for the first record then 50p for each after. You can send 3 records for 1.40 providing it's under 250g and it usually is. Thats why I didn't charge you any extra Paul.
  18. As far as I know it should never have jackie wilson on the b side and if it does, it must surely be a bootleg. Probably looking at £300 for a real one
  19. Well even if you don't like cats, buy the dvd cos normally I'd be charging 15 quid for it!
  20. I'm not a Scotsman and I moan about it as well, if I'm overcharged by 50p 500 times a year I lose 250 quid. Should never cost more than 2.00 recorded, actual cost of 1 x 45 recorded is 1.40
  21. There's some Stax/Atlantic EP's on London about but I didn't think there were any actually on Stax
  22. I think you did! It's crazy to think a Stax record sells for more than £30 to be honest. Is the Darrell Banks record rarer than Sly Girl on the blue Stax? I don't think it is, yet that goes for £25 tops.
  23. I don't rate it at half that. No UK Stax record is worth more than £75.
  24. About time too ***Clamping Down on Unfair Postage & Packaging Charges*** 05 December, 2007 | 04:20PM GMT We pride ourselves on bringing sellers a large audience of engaged, active buyers. In the last month alone, almost 15 million people visited eBay.co.uk looking for great deals on all manner of items. Over the last year we've been asking those buyers who have left eBay, or who no longer buy as much as they used to, why they did so. One of the most common reasons cited was the prominence of sellers who clearly overcharge for postage & packaging on their items. The introduction of Detailed Seller Ratings on the site earlier this year allows us to identify clearly those sellers who are consistently rated poorly by buyers for postage & packaging charges. As a result, we'll shortly be introducing changes to the way that we display search results based on Detailed Seller Ratings for postage & packaging charges. For the vast majority of sellers, this will mean that your items will continue to be featured as normal in search results. However, those sellers who consistently receive the lowest scores on postage & packaging costs will receive considerably reduced visibility in default search results by appearing much further down the list of items. This will apply to sellers whose Detailed Seller Ratings for postage & packaging are 3.9 or below, which accounts for roughly 0.5% of all sellers on the site. This small group of sellers are responsible for a hugely disproportionate number of buyer complaints about overcharging for postage & packaging, and taint the vast majority of good sellers who buyers agree are charging fairly. We will be introducing these changes during the week beginning December 17th, after the main Christmas trading period is over, and we encourage all sellers to continue to review their postage and packaging charges to make sure these are as fairly priced as possible. We expect to make further changes to the display of search results to protect buyers in 2008, including extending the use of Detailed Seller Ratings to other areas of concern for buyers. You can comment on and ask questions about this change here. Regards, The eBay Team
