A Great Shame
If they've got that 60's sound or feel then fine, but do you really want to hear plink plonk disco music?

Vocalists / Musicians Needed For Soul Band
Without taking the p*ss, have a read of this and tell me if there would be any interest in this sort of thing, it's an email I got from a mate and I don't know whether there's any interest or demand for this sort of thing but at least they are not The Commitments so thats one plus point... "I'm forming a band with an old music pal doing mainly soul/Northern covers. He's a veteran of the old club scene. We will avoid the the cliched 'Commitments' end of things - no Mustang Sally then - but won't be too obscure either, so it will be Elgins, Spinners, Velvelettes type of territory. Do you know of any musos/singers to fit the bill? We've got keyboard, bass and backing singers sorted. Any advice or contacts would be great. We're based in Stafford. We're both nearing 50 and backing singers are teens, so age doesn't matter".

A Great Shame
If I were attending venues on a weekly basis I would agree with everything you say. I'd want to hear a much larger percentage of 60's newies and lesser knowns than oldies. Without the new discoveries the scene would have been playing statues with itself for the last 25 years. I just draw the line at the infiltration of non-60's tracks, with many notable exceptions of course.

Oh yes, and WHAT THE MUSIC SOUNDS LIKE. You can have as much attitiude as you want but if the music is sh*t, so is your state of mind.

A Great Shame
Only the first line of my post was directed at you Spot, the one that agrees with Pete Griffin. The rest had nothing to do with you or your post so you didn't actually need to reply to my post or defend whatever you've said because I was talking about something else completely different - about the way certain people treat those who only like 60's as dinosaurs and think their main purpose in life is making us see the light.

A Great Shame
Well done, round of applause.

Duffy
She sounds like an X Factor auditionee. Who didn't make the top 12.

A Great Shame
An excellent point. Hope you can hang around a bit for the inevitable backlash

A Great Shame
Thats exactly what it means Pete. When are people going to realise that the music of the era mentioned above is the preferred type of music that MANY people enjoy listening to and aren't interested in anything else? What relevence has a 1975 produced record to someone who likes early 60's rhythm & blues? I like 60's ska and reggae, does it follow that I should like f*cking ragga and digital reggae? It's rubbish, it has no connection to the music of the 60's which I like so why should I want to listen to it? And more to the point, why are certain people on a mission to convert people like me to their sh*t music?

Soul Tattoos, What Does Your Say?
I was just about to say that it's a bit sad having a soul tattoo until I realised that I'd forgotten I have the word 'soul' tattooed on my right shoulder blade in Japanese

Gary Haines On Sound
I don't quite agree with this Russ, the nashville stamp on mine is nowhere near as strong as they usually are and does look a little amateurish. It's 100% genuine though.

Gary Haines On Sound
As I said above, counterfeit doesn't have the stamp, thanks for confirming this John. I have an original here with the stamp. The white demo is ultra rare, I've only had it once, in fact that was the only one I ever saw.
