  1. THE DYNAMOS - WE DON'T NEED NO HELP / INSTRUMENTAL - DYNAMO 12 DS 604. 1977. Rare 12", 'modern' version of the Rex Garvin number. £30 post £2.50
  2. Jackie Trent is definitely a cover of the Ronnettes - The Turtles song is a totally different song altogether, same title, different record
  3. Hey it wasn't "Dobsons" fair was it because they gave those away at our fair too, along with hundreds of copies of "Cindy Incidentally" by The Faces!
  4. Are you 100% on this Alan - I've never, ever heard of this before and this was never a big enough sound to counterfeit - the crap pressing wasn't done til late 77 early 78. Not saying you're wrong, just not come across or heard of this in 30+ years. Used to be a standard £8 in the Wigan bar, bought 2 of them in 77.
  5. We had a bloke working on the waltzers here, he was Spanish looking, very dark skinned, pencil moustache, and he was known to all as "Dan The Bummer" nobody wanted him to spin their waltzer
  6. He was a living legend round here in the 70's - hero worshipped in fact. His Wigan coach was well dodgy though
  7. Same time as Monster Mash I think!
  8. Yeah that was very popular - it's actually Wet Dream by Max Romeo (Unity label) actually made the top 20 in 69 with no airplay whatsoever.
  9. 1972 and 1973, all our local fairground used to play was reggae, which is probably how I got into it so heavily. 1974 it all changed and they played soul, I was gutted...but I remember the records they played over and over again were Two Can Have A Party by marvin & Tammi and Feel The Need In Me by Detroit Emeralds. Oh, and The Locomotion by Little Eva for some reason.
  10. So you're saying Bonnie Herman isn't a Northern Soul record?
  11. Did I say it was a soul record? No I didn't, did I. You always have to try to be such a smartarse don't you, trying to get a cheap laugh. I said it was a NORTHERN Soul record, big big difference.
  12. Come on Rich, chalk and cheese, Hush Don't Cry is a fantastic Northern Soul track, the Duffy track is a very average retro style pop song which doesn't deserve the coverage it's got. It's like comparing Dean Parrish's soul efforts against Tony Blackburns.
  13. Crikey Ian, do me a favour, I had enough of that stuff from the hippies at school, the prog rockers...Tales From Topographic Oceans and all that crap (stuff we'd like to forget not be reminded of!)
  14. that was me selling it - thats my old book. It's ultra, ultra rare is that book, I've seen it sell for £100 in the days before the priceguides came out. I actually managed to get another one quite cheaply which I still have. If anyone wants me to bootleg it I will
  15. I thought Chris had access to all of the Motown tapes in storage at Abbey Road...or sommat. Definitely had the tapes though
  16. Whoever said she sounded like Brenda lee was right!
  17. bunny lee allstars - warfare - unity the pioneers - reggae beat - blue cat the wrigglers - get right - blue cat the uniques - my conversation - island owen gray - i'm going to take you back - collins downbeat boris gardiner - bobby socks to stockings - high note I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a soul record
  18. It could well have been a double A side because I've got film of him doing At The Discotheque on US tv (did post it on youtube, taken down, might be up again by now)
  19. Good idea Gavin but nobody would pay the postage asked! I've got about 40 altogether. Nothing special - Brass Construction, G.Q., Sun, Carolyn Crawford, Salsoul things. Maybe I could stick em all on at 2.99 start.
  20. No problem Paul, thats why I asked - only reference I have is JM's site
  21. I've got quite a few of these Dave, seem to keep accumulating them, never know what to do with 'em
